Work Text:
"Ugh... What a pain.. Where should I put this...." Ace asked herself, fiddling with the CD jewel case in her hand.
"What the— Ace?!?!"
Ace froze as she heard the sound of Nate's voice. She had snuck into his and Everett's dorm room, and wasn't expecting Nate to be there.
"Wha— why are you here so quickly?! I told you to go to the library!"
"I forgot something... and now I can see that is a good thing. What are you doing here?! You're breaking the rules!"
"Uh.. Uh.. Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh"
"Ace."
"Okay! I was going to leave something for Everett here.."
"and you couldn't give it to him directly because?"
"Uhm... Because.."
Ace immediately looked away. Shit, this was embarrassing.... There was no way she'd tell Nate that she liked— no, fell in love with Everett!
Nate groaned. He wasn't in the mood for this.
"Come on, out. Out!"
"fine, fine!"
Ace quickly dropped off the item she was holding on Everett's table and followed Nate out the room.
Everett flopped onto his bed. Man, he was tired, but he had to work on an English essay. He knew Nate would chew him out if he did. Everett groans and gets up to sit at his desk. Right before he sat down, he spots something.
"Huh? A CD jewel case?" Everett raises a brow.
He picks it up and sees that the words 'To Everett' was written on it And... It sort of looked like Ace's handwriting.
"Fuck the essay, this is more important." Everett mutters. He grabs his portable CD player and earphones and starts to listen to the CD.
"Hello? Is this thing working?" Ace's voice filled Everett's ears.
"Uh.. Right, okay. Uhm. Hi, Everett? It's Ace, as you can probably tell... I hope you're going to listen through the entire thing."
Everett huffs. Of course he would!
"Well, I made you a song! Well, a snippet.. I just had to get the song out and.. Yeah."
Everett's eyes widened. A song? He then heard the strum of a guitar. And humming. Then he heard Ace start singing. And fuck... The song was heavenly. And the lyrics... Wait. Was this a fucking love song?
Everett immediately got up and rushed out the dorm. He needed to see her. Now.
Everett practically ran everywhere to find Ace. The classrooms, the girls dorm, even the lounge. When he ran into the library, he was taking deep breaths.
"Ace?!"
"shhhh!!"
Everett paid no attention to the librarian, scouring the area for Ace. That's when he saw her. Packing up her things while talking to Nate.
"Ace! There you are! Fucking hell, I should've known you'd be here! I've been looking for you everywhere!"
"Everett? Why would you—"
Ace suddenly blushed. Oh yeah. That.
"You wrote me a fucking love song! Yeah it was short as hell, but still!"
"WHAT?!" Nate's jaw dropped. "Is that why you snuck into our dorm?!"
"You snuck into our—?! Holy fuck... I thought you'd ask Nate to put the CD on my table or some shit!"
"I was scared he'd ask about the contents of it... I wasn't going to tell him!"
Nate groaned. "I wouldn't ask!"
"You never know!!" Ace sighs, "Whatever.. What did you think of it, the song...?" Ace asked Everett.
"it's.. Pretty fucking good." Everett blushed a little.
Ace then grabbed Everett by the shoulders.
"... Be my boyfriend."
"... What?"
Ace jumped back, "Nothing!" she then attempted to run off, but Nate grabbed her by the collar.
"Can you both stop pining already?! I'm tired of hearing you both talk about one another!!"
Ace and Everett blushed.
"I'm leaving! You two settle this! And I swear if you both don't—"
"Okay, okay! Jesus..." Everett huffed.
Nate left the library, leaving Ace and Everett in silence. They stared at one another in silence before Everett cleared his throat.
"So... You want me to be your boyfriend, huh? We could totally make it work.”
