Chapter Text
Chris McLean stood in front of the camera, the makeup department adding a final touch of powder on his face. They gave him a quick thumbs-up before hurrying back to the production tent.
The port where they were was quiet, aside from the hum of rolling cameras and the squawk of seagulls, surrounded by a maze of shipping containers stacked high like a chaotic game of Tetris.
Chris adjusted his collar, took a deep breath, and flashed his trademark devilish grin. The cameras started rolling.
Show time .
"This... is Total Drama , the show that pits a bunch of teens against each other for the sole purpose of entertaining me."
He paused for dramatic effect.
"We’ve been gone for a while. The pandemic hit us all hard. No one to torture, no ratings to spike. But don’t worry, we’re coming back stronger than ever."
A familiar roar echoed in the distance. A rugged school bus, held together by duct tape and spite, screeched to a halt nearby. Chef was behind the wheel, expression unreadable behind his dark sunglasses.
"This season, sixteen brand-new contestants are gonna battle it out for the million," Chris continued, waving toward the bus. "New faces. Fresh meat. Can't wait to see how they'll do."
A dramatic pause. Then, the classic evil chuckle.
"Let’s meet the poor souls... I mean, contestants."
Kala was the first out, more pushed than stepping. Courtesy of Chef.
"That was mean," she muttered, brushing her skirt off.
She was the kind who'd get caught in the rain and apologize for getting wet. Sweet, maybe too sweet for what was coming.
Carlos followed, tripping on his own feet like gravity had it out for him.
"So much for starting off on the right foot," he said with a sheepish grin.
He seemed like the type to laugh off falling into a volcano. Enthusiastic. Cursed.
Regina stepped off like she owned the dock. Perfect posture, camera-ready smile.
"Hey y’all, I’m Regina. Nice meeting you," she beamed.
She looked both delicate and untouchable.
Levi was next. Bag over his shoulder, hair tousled just enough to be intentional.
"So excited to be here. Can’t wait to see what the island is like."
Charming. Too charming. Heartbreaker vibes.
Alice nearly tripped, then laughed it off like she'd meant to.
She didn’t speak, just joined the others with a grin. Quiet, but not forgettable.
Tyrone followed, a walking protein commercial. Tall, built, and dripping with confidence.
"Get ready to see me win."
He could probably carry his team to victory. Literally
Ashlynn missed her cue. Mostly because she was still nose-deep in a book.
"Sorry! This part is just so good," she said, still reading as she walked.
The bookworm. Probably lost in some other world.
Ahmed stepped out quietly, eyes scanning, pen scribbling in a small notepad.
He didn’t say a word. Observing. Calculating. Definitely smarter than all of them combined.
Hannah descended like a judge entering court. Cold eyes, tight arms, sharper tongue.
"This is the competition? Yikes."
The type to start drama without lifting a finger.
Henry came out grinning like he’d won a contest to be here.
He high-fived everyone down the line. Supportive. Kind. Doomed.
June came out like a wrecking ball of chaos.
"When’s the challenge starting? I need some action!"
Adrenaline junkie. She’d either win the whole thing or explode.
Logan was hot on her heels, eyes already scanning the girls.
"Come on, ladies. I can totally rock your world."
His flirting landed like a bad joke. Try-hard with a six-pack.
Camila stepped down like she was walking onto a stage. Smile tight, hands shaking.
Trying very hard to stay cool. We’d see how long that lasted.
Oliver almost ran past the camera. Head down, hoodie up.
The introvert. Blink and you’d miss him. He’d prefer it that way.
Iris sauntered out with an eye roll baked into her DNA.
"Just put me on the boys’ team. I’m not like other girls."
She was exactly like other girls who said that.
Eddie came last, squinting after Iris.
"If you're one of the boys, then men have fallen too low."
The snark was strong with this one.
Finally, Chef exited the bus. His job was done. For now.
Chris clapped his hands. "Wonderful, you all made it here intact. You sure will be regretting that after a few days. Now, you're probably wondering why we're staring out here instead of our chosen island. The answer to that is simple:" He guided the group to the docks, where three large ships were waiting. "This season, we took a new approach. Instead of starting at some cool-looking island, you guys will have to set sail and travel by sea to reach that island."
The teens gasped and commented among themselves. Chris allowed it for a second before continuing.
"Each team will have their ship to command, while production, Chef, and I will have our own ship. Only half of you will reach our main island; the rest will see some smaller islands we'll visit exclusively for challenges along the way. Now, speaking of teams..."
Chris took out a remote from his pocket and pressed a button. The sails on each ship were opened. One was blue with a Manta Ray in the center of it. The other was red with a Seahorse. These were clearly the team themes.
"You shall each be known as the Glorious Manta Rays and the Valiant Seahorses," Chris explained. “The following people will be part of the Manta Rays: Regina, Carlos, Alice, Logan, Iris, Levi, June, and Oliver. Please walk up to the blue ship and say hello to your new team. The rest of you: Camila, Ahmed, Hannah, Eddie, Ashlynn, Tyrone, Kala, and Henry, you guys are now the Valiant Seahorses. Your ship is the red one.”
The teams looked at each other and slowly came to terms with the fact that those were the people they would spend most of their time with.
“Let’s do our best to work together then,” Said Carlos, taking hold of the flag that Chef handed him, but dropping it.
Regina picked up the flag and handed it back to Carlos. “Starting by not dropping the team flag,” She laughed teasingly.
CONFESSIONAL – REGINA
The team looks good, not great; it’ll need some polish for that. But if there’s one thing I excel at, it’s making things work
Meanwhile, the Seahorses also presented themselves.
“Our team looks great, I’m sure we’ll be able to win a lot together,” Said Camila.
“You guys come up with the strategies and I’ll make sure they get done,” Tyrone said while flexing.
CONFESSIONAL – HANNAH
So, from what I can see, no one is a strong social leader. This is the perfect team for me to be the queen Bee. Give it 2 days, and I’ll be running this team like Taylor Swift runs the music industry.
Both teams were being given a tour of the ships that would be their living spaces for their entire time as a team.
“These are the beauties that will take you from one Island to another. I suggest you don’t wreck them too much, you only get one, and damages are repaired only if very necessary,” Chris continued.
The ships were in tip-top condition, equipped with everything that could have been thought of to enhance challenges and comfort.
CONFESSIONAL – OLIVER
“Ok, so I spotted maybe 3 places where I can go to hide. I doubt even the cameras can follow me there.”
“This looks amazing, but why isn’t it rundown? Total Drama never gives out stuff in tip-top condition unless there are challenges involved.” Kala said, looking around and getting more impressed by the second.
Chris sighed, a genuine, sad sigh. “Yeah, due to the pandemic, we had to provide appropriate living conditions, or else we wouldn’t have been picked up again. Believe me, my team tried to use the ships we initially picked out for this season, but it was either these or no show, and I can have fun in… other ways.”
The screen cut to another faraway dock, where two old, rusted-looking ships were already halfway sunken, before cutting back to the current ships.
The cast stood there for a second before continuing with the tour.
The group entered what looked like a dining area, where Chef was overseeing some other cooks preparing the kitchen for future use.
“Oh, so I assume the food will also be edible?” Logan asked smugly.
“Are you trying to make me cry?” Chris said angrily.
The tour finished, and both teams were outside once more.
“Now that you’ve seen what your living situation will be like, it’s time to start with your very first CHALLENGE,” Chris announced.
Both teams cheered, not knowing this would probably be the first and last time they would ever cheer after hearing this.
Amateaurs
“For your very first challenge, your job is to locate the supplies needed for the entire season. You have the entire ship port to look for these supplies. In total, there should be four sets of crates with your team logo,” Chris explains. “First team to load their supplies and set sail obtains bragging rights.”
CONFESSIONAL CAMILA
“I still can’t wrap my head around the fact that we’re gonna be sailing around, going to other islands before reaching a main island. I wonder if I’ll be around to see it.”
“If there aren’t any follow-up questions, then your very first challenge starts… NOW!” Chris announces, shooting a flare up into the sky. Each team scurries into the maze of containers, stopping a few feet in to talk strategy. A few seconds pass, and then a seagull falls dead in front of Chris, having been hit by the flare.
The Mantas huddle up together, Logan trying to be next to any of the girls, and Alice trying to stand slightly farther away from the group.
“Alright, this place looks big. Should we split into groups to cover more ground?” Levi suggested
“I can go alone, I don’t need a babysitter,” Alice said, already heading further into the shipport. Regina stopped her before she was totally gone.
“Nobody goes completely alone. We can separate into 4 groups of 2, and then you can separate to cover an area if you really want to be alone,” She said, looking around for any objections. When she got none, she looked at Carlos, “Carlos and I will cover this area; the rest of you choose another one to cover.”
Iris got paired with Logan, who went to the farthest point of the ship port, and Alice went with Levi after determining he was better suited to be company, leaving June and Oliver as the last pair.
“So, uh, where do you think the supplies could be?” Oliver asked, bordering on fidgeting and panic.
June looked around, hoping to find some sort of clue. “Hopefully somewhere high, I’d hate it if this first challenge doesn’t offer any sort of thrill.”
CONFESSIONAL – JUNE
“Normally, I give people a chance, but this kid Oliver was literally trying to kill me with his boring self. I couldn’t find a single thrilling thing about him.”
On the other hand, the Seahorses had taken a different approach to the challenge. A lot of strong voices spoke up to provide their 2 cents. Ahmed said splitting up was the best option, Hannah pushed for staying together, and Kala suggested splitting only within certain areas, but covering an entire area as a team would cover the same ground faster.
“It has been proven in several tests that splitting up is the best way to cover large territories,” Ahmed explained condescendingly.
“Yeah, but the other team already realized that faster than us, and by doing the same thing they did, we’ll look like copycats, like uncreative thinkers, and I won’t have that,” Hannah insisted.
“In that case, the best thing to do would be to cover entire areas together, but dividing every area to cover everything as fast as possible, then moving on to the next area together,” Kala spoke up, trying to match Hannah and Ahmed’s height.
“That’s the same as splitting up,” Hannah dismissed, and added, “Let’s just start looking over here. Some of us go one way and the others go another; we’ll meet here again after covering this part of the port.”
Everyone agreed and started looking around in the same area. Kala stood there for a second, surprised that Hannah managed to make her idea look bad one second and implement it with some rewording the next.
“I just got gaslit in real time… Cool”
CONFESSIONAL – KALA
“I mean, it wasn’t nice, but I honestly never experienced something like that before, and I guess I can now cross that off the list.”
Eddie and Ashlynn were together checking out some containers. The port seemed to stretch in every direction; neat rows of containers, stacked like skyscrapers, surrounded the place, blocking most of the sunlight.
“I feel like we already checked this one,” Ashlynn said, closing another empty container.
“We haven’t, I’m keeping track,” Eddie corrected. “This one was rustier than the last one.”
They had, in fact, checked the same one as before.
“These all look the same!” Hannah complained.
“We just gotta speed up the search,” Tyrone added, finishing his search of another container and starting on another one.
Camila and Kala approached their group, having finished searching a particular area.
“Nothing there either, are we finished with this first zone?” Camila asked
Hannah looked around, shaking her head. “Novel girl and… that guy aren’t finished yet,” She said, pointing at Eddie and Ashlynn.
CONFESSIONAL – CAMILLA
“They still weren’t done? They were literally the first to start!” She sighs and then takes a deep breath. “It’s fine, we still have time, it will be okay.”
Within the same area, Alice and Levi of the Mantas were searching containers discreetly. Alice was more focused on checking out the other team while Levi was the one actually looking for the supplies.
“They really should have split up,” She commented, opening one of the boxes she saw was not for her team, and looked through it. She found a bag of marbles, examined it for a second, and then put it in her pocket. She was so focused on her own search and spying on the other team that she didn’t see Levi struggling to open another container
“Yeah, don’t really see why they didn’t,” Levi said, going into the container and coming out empty-handed a few seconds later. “Feel like helping out with the search?”
Alice snapped out of it and helped Levi with the next container.
In a different part of the port, Iris and Logan were searching their assigned area. Dozens of containers had already been opened, leaving only a few remaining.
“Ugh, another empty one,” Iris complained.
“But at least we’re stuck here together,” Logan said, flirty as ever.
Iris rolled her eyes and continued looking.
CONFESSIONAL – IRIS
“He’s cute, but not make-out-in-a-ship-port-in-the-middle-of-a-challenge cute.”
The other groups within the mantas were also struggling. Regina and Carlos had nearly emptied the north side of the port, Alice and Levi were not even halfway through their containers due to Alice being more focused on spying on the other team, and lastly, Oliver and June were also not done yet.
Meanwhile, Chris and Chef were on the crew ship, watching everything go down comfortably.
“How long do you think it’ll take them to find the supplies?” Chef asked, mockingly
“I mean, I would hope that the amount of time I had the interns spend on hiding them would make it worth our while, so maybe like an hour or two?” Chris said, taking a sip from a margarita.
Regina was sweating; the only thing keeping her calm was the fact that the other team had not found anything yet either. She cussed out once she saw that the container she just opened was also empty.
“How many do we have left?” She asked
“There are 4 left,” Carlos said, closing out another empty container
“Gosh, how hard can it be to find four containers?” Regina complained.
“Wouldn’t be any fun if we found it in two seconds now, would it?” Carlos tried to lift the mood, but received a disappointed stare from Regina.
“I guess you’re kinda right, but still, we gotta find at least ONE container, my sanity depends on it” She responded.
Both teammates looked at a container and started opening the locks. For some reason, this container had an additional lock, which Regina internally cursed.
“You better not be extra locked just to be empty,” She muttered under her breath.
They opened the container, and to their relief, inside it sat the first of four crates with their team logo. Regina let out an excited scream.
“Finally, it was about goddanm time!” She exclaimed
“We gotta get it to the ship,” Carlos said, walking up to the side of the crate and attempting to pick it up, but when he did, his hand slipped and caused him to drop the crate on his foot. He groaned in pain, but held it in and tried again, this time with Regina’s help, and together they started making their way towards their team’s ship to secure their first supply crate.
An intercom came to life throughout the port. “Looks like after an eternity of waiting, I can finally announce that the Glorious Manta Rays are the first to finally find a crate. Seriously, I planned out like three more seasons while you guys took your sweet time.” It was Chris, as sarcastic as ever.
Oliver and June cheered from inside another container, glad some progress was finally showing.
“Looks like we, uhm, got off to a good start, huh?” Oliver said, looking around only to find June in a high-up spot.
“Woo! Nothing gets me more fired up than winning!” June screamed, her voice echoing around the port.
CONFESSIONAL – OLIVER
“June is… intense. One minute she’s on the ground, and the next you see her climbing something you didn’t think someone could climb. Where does she get the energy for that?”
The pair continued to look around, now entering a warehouse within the port.
Oliver saw what looked like rows and rows of shelves where more stuff seemed to be. “Oh great, more stuff.”
Back on the crew ship, Chris and Chef were still watching.
“Oh look, they finally went into the warehouse,” Chris said, giggling. He took another sip from his drink and continued to watch the teams struggle.
The intercom within the warehouse came on.
“Welcome to the warehouse, sailors. Just a quick heads-up, if any of your supply boxes are in here, and I’m not saying that they are, you’ll have to know that they are not marked the same as the boxes within the containers. These boxes you’ll have to open up. If they have your team logo inside, you have found the right one. Good luck,” Chris announced, followed by a mischievous laugh
The camera cuts back to the Seahorses, who were finally done with their first area, no red crate in sight.
“We have to start picking up the slack, guys, the other team already has a crate and we’re still missing all four,” Hannah said, looking at the rest of her teammates with disdain.
“Maybe we should actually split up; we can cover more ground like that instead of wasting it all in one place,” Henry suggested.
“That is clearly the better option, the same one me and other teammates proposed but were ignored by Ms. Popular,” Ahmed complained.
Camila stepped in before Hannah could snap back. “It wouldn’t hurt to try, at this point, what do we have to lose?”
The rest of the team seemed to agree, and sensing that she was outnumbered, Hannah gave in to the splitting-up idea. Camilla went off with Kala, Hannah picked Tyrone, Henry went with Eddie, and Ashlynn was left with Ahmed.
“Try to keep up, I won’t lag behind because of you,” Ahmed said, arrogance leaking from his entire 5’4”.
CONFESSIONAL – ASHLYNN
“Why do I get paired up with the jerks? Can’t a girl catch a break? I haven’t even been able to take a peek at my book since the challenge started.”
Camilla and Kala were assigned the crates nearest to the ocean. They had quickly devised a functional system to cover all containers in a timely manner. Fueled by their team’s current situation, they managed to search through the containers pretty fast, and luckily, it wasn’t in vain.
“Oh my god, Kala, I found one, I found one!” Camilla shouted, nearly squealing.
Kala ran up to her to see it for herself. “Let’s gooo, that’s awesome, Camilla. We gotta get this to our ship fast.”
The intercom came back on, announcing the seahorse’s first find.
“The seahorses have finally caught up! Now you’re all back at square one,” Chris said, teasingly.
Over the following minutes, both teams stepped up their game. The Mantas found their second and third crates shortly after, but their lead died out quickly since the Seahorses caught back up almost immediately. Now, only one crate was left for both teams.
The intercom went back on. “The game is on! Only one crate left for each team. Time to move it or lose it” Chris announced.
The Mantas were all together now, looking around in the warehouse part of the port. June was climbing the shelves like it was easy, Alice was trying to find a spot to be by herself, Regina and Levi were leading the search, and Oliver was trailing behind, trying not ot be noticed too much.
“Come on, guys, we’re almost done, we’re doing great,” Regina cheered, closing out another incorrect box from the shelves.
“I think I see the other team coming,” Carlos said, pointing at the other entrance where the Seahorses were arriving.
Alice perked up from her end of the shelves. “I’ll go look over there and keep an eye on them,” She announced, making her way towards them subtly.
The seahorses had just finished loading up their fourth crate and were eager to keep looking in the last spot. Tyrone made it there first and immediately landed eyes on the Manta Rays.
CONFESSIONAL – TYRONE
They might have gotten a head start, sure. But that won’t slow us down, not on my watch.
“You two, look around there. Big guy and I will look around where the other team is to bother them and also to make sure they haven’t already hidden our last crate,” Hannah ordered, pointing at Kala and Camilla to look around a mostly empty part of the warehouse.
The girls looked at Hannah, at the area they were “ordered” to look around, and back at Hannah, and went off elsewhere, not wanting to waste time.
Now that the warehouse was the only area left without searching, both teams were crossing paths much more often. Judgy looks were shot, and tension was in the air. Neither side was giving up, eager to be the one to win the first challenge.
Eddie was at the top of a ladder, checking on more boxes to see if any of them were marked for his team. Ahmed stood nearby, checking the boxes on the lower rows.
“This’ll be the last time you give me orders, nerd, I’m not the type of guy you can just boss around,” Eddie said angrily.
“In these types of games, you either give out orders or you follow them, Edward. Few people are giving out the orders on this team, and none of them were given by you.” Ahmed countered.
Eddie stood there for a second, silenced almost completely, grumbling to himself while he continued his search in silence.
Tyrone passed by them, carrying another set of unsearched boxes for Hannah to look into.
“Here’s the next batch, princess.” He grunted, placing 3 more unmarked crates in front of the blonde. He raised an eyebrow at Hannah when he realized she had already looked in the last set of 3 boxes he had brought her.
She clocked his look and challenged it with her own. “What? Surprised blondie is not totally useless and is only here for the drama?”
“Have to say I am. What with all the queen bee moves you’ve been trying to pull, didn’t think you could keep up with serious gameplay,” He responded.
She shrugged, smugly. “Well, I can. Now leave these crates here and bring the next batch. I’ll be waiting.”
Hannah watched Tyrone leave and started looking through the crates when she noticed Alice staring from afar. She glared at her, but didn’t seem to manage to make her stop spying.
CONFESSIONAL – ALICE
“So the other team was slowly starting to realize that I was watching them like a Hawk. It is my duty as a member of the opposite team to spy on them in order to know what they’re up to, so no matter how hard they glare at me, I shall not stop.”
Back with the Mantas, Levi was checking out some boxes in a separate corner. Iris was lurking around him, occasionally looking his way, hoping to make eye contact.
Levi sighed and, without looking at her, said, “Need something, Iris?”
Iris fluttered closer, smiling brightly. “Oh, I was just wondering if you need any help?” She asked, coming a bit too close.
Logan came out of the same area Iris was looking in.
“Hey, I thought we were looking around this part together?” He complained.
Iris ignored him and kept looking expectantly at Levi.
Levi spotted an area that no one was looking in and pointed across the room.
“Nobody’s searching that lane, you’ll probably be more help to the team over there,” He pointed out.
“I can totally help you look around there much faster,” Logan pitched in, walking up to the pair.
CONFESSIONAL – LOGAN
“Iris and I were vibing the whole challenge, and then suddenly she just ignored me completely and started flirting with Levi. The guy’s ok, I guess, but I honestly don’t see what he has that I don’t.”
CONFESSIONAL – LEVI
“What do I have that he doesn’t? Headaches , that’s what”
“Well, why don’t I help you finish up here, and then we can both go over there and look around together?” Iris insisted.
“I’m literally already helping you out, Iris, don’t know why you’re asking for help we don’t need.” Logan said while prying open another box, trying to prove his strength.
Levi was starting to look uncomfortable. He looked around, hoping to find someone who could help him, when he spotted Oliver, only halfway through the first row of unmarked crates.
“Sorry Iris, but I already told Regina I would help Oliver out on his row. Once I finish up with him, I can stop by and see if you and Logan need any help, ok? For now, I think it’s best if you start out on your own over there.”
Levi left before Iris could say anything else. Logan once again walked up to her to try and get her attention, this time getting it and walking away to the lane of boxes they were previously searching in, leaving the empty lane Levi mentioned un-checked.
CONFESSIONAL – LEVI
“I mean, she’s cute and all, but I don’t wanna lose my focus on the game over someone. Winning has gotta come first. Once I win, I can go out with any girl or guy I want.”
The camera cuts back to the seahorses. Henry was searching his lane alone, Camila and Kala were almost done with their lanes, Ahmed and Eddie were arguing in theirs, Ashlynn was done with her lane but was hiding to read her book and Tyrone was walking around the warehouse looking for any possible spot that wasn’t looked in yet accompanied by Hannah, who was mostly on her phone.
Tyrone called for a team huddle.
“Alright, everyone, how’re we doing?” he asked.
“Kala and I finished our lanes, so far no crates,” Camilla reported.
“I still haven’t found anything either,” Henry stated.
Hannah pointed to Eddie and Ahmed, who were still glaring at each other. “You two, why are you trying to petrify each other?”
“Well, teammate, it seems that Edward is incapable of accepting that he has failed to occupy the role of team leader and is angry at me for pointing it out,” Ahmed explained, smugly looking at Eddie as if he wasn’t nearly half his size and already red with rage.
Hannah scoffed at Eddie. “Aaw, Edward, you thought you could run this team? That’s cute”.
CONFESSIONAL – EDDIE
“I don’t care what the nerd says; he’s wrong either way. But the blonde chick? Nah, no girl is gonna act like they can humiliate me.”
“Listen here, Airhead, just because I’m not running the team now doesn’t mean I won’t be running it in the long run. I just don’t play all my cards on the first hand,” Eddie said, almost getting in Hannah’s face, before Tyrone stopped him.
“Calm down, Eddie, it’s not that serious,” Henry intervened.
Eddie backed up a few steps and glared at everyone.
“Whatever losers, I’m out of here. I’m not gonna keep wasting time standing here doing nothing when we should be focusing on winning.”
The group watched him storm off to another row of boxes.
“As much as I’d hate to agree with him, we are wasting time standing here,” Henry pointed out.
“Fine, everyone, go back to where you were originally searching in, let us know as soon as you find anything,” Hannah said.
The group disperses, ready to put in the last push needed to win this first challenge. Tyrone was ripping through boxes twice as fast, Ahmed looked like smoke was coming out of his head from how fast he was thinking up plans, and the rest were working at a breakneck pace.
“I swear, if we don’t find this soon, I’ll go crazy. Like, full-on straight-jacket crazy,” Camilla said to Kala, reaching another lane of unchecked boxes.
Kala opened another box only to find it wasn’t the one. She sighed, “Maybe the fourth crate is the friends we made along the way.”
They both shared a small laugh when they were suddenly interrupted by the best news they heard all day.
“I FOUND IT” they heard, followed by a loud crash. When they followed the noise, they found Eddie buried under a row of boxes.
“Oh my god, are you okay?” Henry said, rushing to help Eddie up.
Eddie shook himself off and pointed the broken box with what were clearly supplies with their team's symbol.
“Take that, suckers. Who’s leader material now? WOO” Eddie cheered, before fainting from the hit he just took.
Tyrone ran up to him, picked Eddie up, and told the rest of the team to handle the last box.
“We gotta move quick before-” he started.
“The Valiant Seahorses have found their last box! They haven’t won yet, though, they still have to make the long trip back to their ship if they wanna claim victory” Chris announces over the intercom.
“Before that happens” Tyrone finished.
“Go, we’ll take care of things here” Ashlynn told him.
CONFESSIONAL – ASHLYNN
“So as soon as I see Tyrone run off with Eddie, I feel this ominous feeling, like I’m being watched or something, almost prayed upon”
CONFESSIONAL – ALICE
“All of my spying has been preparing me for this moment. It’s time to set operation stall them into motion.”
Alice jumped off from her high spying spot and ran to her other teammates.
“We need to delay them as much as possible” she said.
Regina looked at her, a little annoyed, a little intrigued.
“How do you suggest we do that? By continuing to spy on them and do nothing?” She snarkily asked.
Alice let it slide and countered. “We’re going through a bunch of boxes with a bunch of useless stuff. We have to be capable enough to find a use for one thing.”
Oliver pitched in, “I saw a few boxes with bags of marbles over there; we can use them to slow them down at least a bit.”
“That actually sounds solid, Oliver, good idea.” Levi praised.
The Mantas set up a plan in motion to delay the other team, while the Seahorses were picking up parts of their broken supply box and running with them to their ship.
Ashlynn came back from a trip and looked at what was left.
“I think we should be done with just 3 more trips” She said.
“Grab what you can and run. I overheard the other team trying to come up with ideas to slow us down. We gotta move fast.” Henry informed her, having come back from his own trip.
Ashlynn rushed to pick up some more supplies and ran to the ship. Henry looked at what was left and, in quick movements, tried picking up everything he could. He was annoyed by the fact that only a few more things were left to pick up, but his hands were already full.
“Wait,” He heard Camilla call out to him. She had just come back from her last trip and was already looking at what was left. “I can help you load up the rest, and we can finish this in a single trip. I heard the other team wanted to slow us down, so I grabbed some box lids to use as shields in case they want to throw stuff at us.”
Henry stood there, questioning if it was actually possible for him to carry more than what he currently had. “Whatever you say,” he responded.
Camilla added the last few things, stacking them over what Henry was already carrying. To Henry, she looked like she was playing some high-stakes Tetris. Just as she finished, the Glorious Mantas made their appearance. Marble bags in one hand, sports balls in the other. They scattered the marbles all over the floor in front of them, making it so Henry could not rush his trip without risking slipping and having to start over.
“I wasn’t expecting the marbles, but we can definitely shield you from their throws.” Camilla looked up at Henry, hopeful.
Kala ran up to them, another box lid in hand, ready to join the fight. “Let’s get this seahorse to the ship” She said to Camilla, smiling.
CONFESSIONAL – HENRY
“So, all of a sudden, I’m in some sort of crazy escorting mission, and that’s when it hits me. This is Total Drama, and I am one hundred percent here for this.”
The Mantas start throwing soccer balls, footballs, tennis balls, and even one or two bowling balls towards the other team. Camilla and Kala did an excellent job at shielding Henry from their attacks. At one point, Henry almost trips on the marbles, and the Mantas double up their speed with the throwing. June and Alice were the ones throwing at light speed. Levi would come and go, bringing more things to throw at them, while the rest of the team would continue their search.
“Now this is my type of challenge!” June shouted, excited.
Eventually, Henry managed to make it to the Seahorse’s ship, and the rest of the team helped him unload everything. Once they were done, they triumphantly set sail and rang the bell of victory.
The production ship sounded a loud horn, and Chris’ voice came back on the intercom.
“And that’s curtains on the first part of your first challenge! The Valiant Seahorses found and loaded every last one of the supplies needed to endure the entire trip to our mystery island.”
The Seahorses cheered, but the Mantas caught on to one small detail.
“Wait, so this challenge isn’t over?” Regina asked.
Chris, who was happy that someone understood what he meant, cackled. “Nope! First challenge isn’t over yet, Mantas, there’s still a whole part two I’ve been dying to see you guys reach”
The Mantas sigh a sigh of relief. Determination filling them up once more.
“Before we can start, though, I’m legally required to make sure both teams have their supplies” Chris explained. He pointed to some interns, who were instructed to guide the Mantas to where their last supply box was hiding.
“Isn’t this where I told you to look Iris?” Levi pointed out.
Regina butted in, “This was actually supposed to be Alice’s lane.”
“great, now we’re playing the blame game” Alice sighed.
The Mantas continued bickering while they loaded up the last of their supplies.
The camera then cut back to Chris.
“Which team will win this next challenge? Who will be kicked out first? When will the real games begin? Find out all of that here, on Total Drama Voyage of Lost Islands!”
The camera pans out, fading out into black.
