Liko knew she had to tell Dot how she felt.
Seeing Dot’s cool, calm demeanor and skillful strategies during her recent battles in their Tera training course ignited a fire of admiration inside Liko for the other girl, almost to the point that she felt it was going to overwhelm her. Liko knew that she had fallen hard for Dot, the hard part was just telling her friend how she felt.
With Dot having passed her usage test against Larry, their group were set to head up to Montenevera for Roy's usage test. Liko wanted to tell Dot how she felt as soon as possible, and Liko knew that with how much Dot disliked the cold there wouldn't be a super ideal time for Liko to confess her feelings up on the mountain. Liko decided that now was her best chance.
The group had managed to snag 2 rooms at a hotel in Medali so they didn’t have to sleep in their tents for the night. They snagged 2 rooms since each room only had 2 single beds, so Roy took one room while Liko and Dot had taken the other. It was already decently well into the night, and Liko’s heart was pounding inside her chest. She was all alone with Dot, and she now just needed to build up enough courage to tell Dot how she felt.
“Alright, it's getting pretty late,” Dot said. “We should probably get to sleep so we have the energy to start climbing the mountain.” Liko was starting to sweat bullets now. She hadn’t quite built up the courage she needed, and her chance was starting to slip from her grasp. “W-wait Dot!” Liko said with a bit of urgency. “Theirs, actually something I was hoping to talk to you about before we go to sleep.” It was now or never.
“Oh yeah? What's up?” Dot asked with curiosity. Liko had Dot’s attention. Now she just needed to properly form her words. “I was just wanting to talk to you a little bit about your battle with Larry today,” Liko said, masking the true intentions of their little chat for now.
“Really? What about it?” Dot seemed even more curious now.
“W-well, I just thought that you were really cool during your battle today. Seeing you, Quaxwell and Tinkatink holding your own against Larry today was simply amazing to watch.” Liko said.
“You really think so?” Dot said while scratching her cheek. “Thanks. I’m just glad I was able to pass my usage test even after not winning the battle.” Things seemed to be going well so far Liko thought. She just needs to keep going now.
“Honestly, it’s not just your battle against Larry that’s amazed me, but your battles with Iono and Poppy too. How you're able to come up with amazing strategies on the spot is simply incredible,” Liko continued. She could see that Dot was starting to get a bit flustered from all the praise. “Th-thanks Liko. That means a lot.”
It was time. Liko knew it was time to shoot her shot. “I’m also amazed by how much you’ve grown as a person too. Seeing you come out of your shell more and more recently has been amazing to watch, and getting to know more and more about you as a friend has been amazing too.” Liko could see that Dot’s face was very visibly red at this point. Liko could start to feel her own face get increasingly hot too, but Liko knew she had to keep going.
“However, seeing you grow so much as a person, and getting to see you shine in the spotlight, has been making me feel something new. Something different.” Liko could see the curiosity return to Dot’s face again. Curious as to what her friend meant by her words.
“I’ve been having feelings for you. In more of a romantic way. I know it isn't exactly considered normal for a girl to catch feelings for another girl, but I can’t help how I feel at this point. I needed to tell you how I felt. If you don’t feel the same way, then that's ok. I just hope that we can still continue to at least be friends," The words came flooding out of Liko like a waterfall, and she couldn’t look Dot in the face anymore.
There was a long pause between the girls, but Dot eventually was the one to speak first. “You, you really feel that way about me?” Liko managed to look Dot in the face again. With her words not working any more, Liko gave Dot a small nod. Liko could see Dot ponder her response before she began to speak again. “I actually feel the same way.”
Liko couldn’t believe what she was hearing. “R-really?” Liko asked. Her voice breaking a bit. “Y-yeah, I’ve felt this way for a good while myself,” Dot responded with a smile “I’ve been wanting to confess my feelings myself, but I haven’t been able to work up the courage to do so. I’m-I’m really glad you were able to tho.”
“So, does that mean, you’d want to be my girlfriend?” Liko asked, tears starting to prick the sides of her eyes from her overwhelmed emotions. Dot walked over to her and wiped the tears out of Liko's eyes. “Yeah, I’d love to be” Dot responded before wrapping liko in a hug. Liko could only smile and return Dot’s hug. Liko was beyond happy now, and she couldn’t wait to spend even more time with Dot. Not as friends, but as more than friends.
