Nerris stood in front of their castle, looking to the side, Nikki was in front of them looking confused. “You asked me to meet you here today, what’s up Ner Ner?” Nikki asked.
The sorcerer swallowed the lump in their throat, “I need to tell you something.” Nerris mumbled.
”Okay!!” Nikki smiled at Nerris, “What is it?”
“…” Nerris took a deep breath before finally looking Nikki in the eyes, “I like you Nikki, not as a friend but more.” They admitted, rubbing the back of their neck with a dark red tint on their cheeks. “Do.. Do you like me too?”
“Oh,” Was the only thing that was heard from Nikki, Nikki chuckled awkwardly and looked to the side, acting like how Nerris was before. “Nerris… I’m sorry.” She responded. “I.. Don’t like you like that..“ Nikki then said, “I’ve already got my eyes on someone, and she’s amazing..!”
Nerris’ eyes widened as their heart dropped, just like Nikki, speechless, “O-Oh. I see.” They were able to say, “That’s alright..” Nerris murmured.
Nikki looked at Nerris with sympathy before putting a hand on her shoulder, “You’re amazing too Nerris, and extremely brave for being able to admit your feelings to the wonderful Nikki!!… And… I’d totally like you back if I wasn’t already “crushing” on someone. I’m sorry.” She gave Nerris a grin, as if Nerris wasn’t trying to hold back her tears currently. “But..!! We can still stay friends if you’d like!!” Nikki suggested, eyes brightening at the idea.
“Mhm..!” Nerris nodded, choking back the tears that were going to fall, “I-I’d like that idea.. Just.. Friends.” They muttered, they were.. A bit.. Heartbroken to say the least.
“You’re so accepting!!” Nikki complimented, “Thank you, Nerris!” She exclaimed, Nerris just avoided eye contact before slowly nodding again, “Anyways..l have to meet up with Neil and Max now!… So.. See you later?”
“Yeah,” Nerris answered, “See you.” They said while Nikki waved goodbye before running off.
”…God this is hard to deal with.”
Nerris wiped the tears falling from their eyes while walking towards their four friends who were talking behind the curtains of Preston’s stage, Harrison, Preston, Dolph, and SK. At the sight of Nerris the kids ran over to them. “NERRIS!! What in the world happened?!” Preston wiped some of the tears off of Nerris with his hand. Harrison pulling them towards the stage so they could sit down.
”I… Finally confessed to Nikki.” Nerris muttered, staring at the floor.
The boys looked at each other concerned, “I’m guessing, she…” Harrison tilted his head, knowing Nerris would know what he was talking about.
The sorcerer nodded, “She said.. She said that she already has her eyes on someone, so we decided to stay as friends.”
Dolph rubbed their back, while SK thought about what to say, “Well.. At least you’re staying friends!! And.. You were really brave for admitting that!!!” SK commented.
”Heh,” Nerris laughed weakly, “Yeah I was.” They looked at their friends.
”At least you have US!!” Preston said, “No matter how much sadness we shall go through.. It is LIFE!! There is no life without SADNESS!!”
“Yeah. You’re right.. Thanks.”
