Work Text:

The evening in Phuwin’s condo was quiet—the way he liked it after a long morning of shooting. With an early call time tomorrow, he chose the condo for convenience instead of going home. All day, he had been thinking about a hot shower, and when he finally stepped out wrapped in a towel, hair dripping, skin flushed from the steam—it felt like heaven.

His phone buzzed on the table. He glanced at the screen and froze for a second.

Pond.

At this hour? Pond usually never called during the day unless it was important.

Phuwin picked up, already smiling.

“Hello, partner~” Pond’s voice came through the speaker.

A chuckle slipped past Phuwin’s lips at the greeting.

“What? Why are you calling me now?”

“Why? Can’t I talk to my partner?” Pond’s tone was light, playful—almost suspiciously so.

“…Pond?”

“Mmm?”

“Are you drunk?”

“What makes you think I’d get drunk in broad daylight?” Pond laughed—maybe a little too dramatically.

Phuwin tilted his head, remembering.

“Right… you have an event now.”

“Ohooo, my partner is so good~ he even remembers my schedule.”

Phuwin laughed softly, shaking his head.

“What’s wrong with you? And what’s with that ‘partner’ thing?”

“Why? Isn’t that what I am to you?”

Pond’s voice dipped, just enough seriousness to catch Phuwin off guard—though he quickly masked it with a tease.

“You’ve only been away for 12 hours. Do you miss me that much?”

There was a beat. Then, so faint Phuwin almost missed it—

“...Maybe.”

The whisper was shy, almost unintentional, but it sent a rush of warmth shooting up his chest, flipping his heart upside down. His face turned red instantly, as if caught in the sun.

He tried to cover it, stammering, “Do you… want me to video call you?”

Half-hoping Pond would say no—because his cheeks were embarrassingly red. But at the same time, he hated the thought of disappointing him. If seeing him would lift Pond’s mood, he’d do it.

“No. I have to go.”

Pond’s reply was quick, almost abrupt—but soft, like he was just as flustered. That was when Phuwin realized Pond must be the same as him. Staff would probably tease him too, seeing how red he was right after a call with Phuwin.

Before hanging up, Pond asked quietly, “You’re at your condo, right?”

Phuwin blinked. “…Yeah. Call me when you’re done.”

He ended the call before Pond could say more, his heartbeat still racing.

When Pond’s schedule finally ended, he stepped into the basement car park of the mall with P’Ying. He had just called Phuwin to let him know he was done. Since Pond hadn’t brought his car that day, P’Ying had offered him a ride. But someone else was already there—leaning casually against a car, looking straight at him.

“…Phu?” Pond froze.

Phuwin smiled, holding up his phone.

“You asked if I was at my condo… so I figured you already decided to come over. Thought I’d save you the trouble.”

The way Pond’s face lit up at those words—it was worth everything. Phuwin opened the door for him, making Pond’s ears turn red, while P’Ying didn’t forget to roll her eyes.

The ride was easy. They talked here and there, and even when silence fell, it was comfortable—never awkward.

By the time they reached the condo, Pond took a quick shower. When he stepped out, the smell of Japanese food filled the air—his favorites.

Phuwin stood at the table with a knowing smile, one that Pond was sure was meant to make him happy.

“What’s the occasion?” Pond asked, raising an eyebrow.

Phuwin only laughed him off, setting the table.

“No occasion. Just felt like it.”

They ate together, chatting about their day—the little things they had missed by not being side by side. After dinner, they sank into the couch, the glow of the city lights streaming through the window. The TV played something neither of them paid attention to.

Pond repeated the question, softer this time.

“Seriously though… what’s the occasion?”

Phuwin studied him for a moment, then leaned closer, teasing glint in his eyes.

“A certain puppy called me earlier, acting like everything was fine—but I could hear it in his voice. He wanted to be more than just my partner, didn’t he?”

“Phu…” Pond’s voice was almost a warning, but his pink cheeks betrayed him.

“What? Am I wrong?”

Phuwin inched closer until their faces were just a breath apart. Pond’s gaze flickered—eyes, lips, back again. His voice came out soft, trembling, but steady enough to make Phuwin’s heart race.

“Can I…?”

Phuwin smirked. “Can what?”

“…Be more than your partner?”

The words hung in the air—fragile, precious.

Instead of answering, Phuwin closed the gap, pressing his lips gently against Pond’s. It wasn’t rushed or desperate.

It was soft, teasing—like testing the waters, like savoring the moment. He nipped at Pond’s lower lip, then pulled back only to kiss him again, slower this time.

Pond responded eagerly, matching his pace, their mouths moving together with a sweetness that made the world outside disappear.

Phuwin cupped Pond’s cheek, thumb brushing his skin, while Pond’s fingers tangled in Phuwin’s hair, pulling him closer. Their kisses melted into a rhythm—playful bites, soft tugs, lips parting and meeting again in a dance only they knew. Pond slowly pressed Phuwin back against the sofa, climbing onto him just to kiss him better.

For Phuwin, kissing Pond felt like discovering one of his favorite things in the world—something he could never get enough of.

When they finally pulled apart, foreheads resting together, breath mingling, Phuwin whispered with a smile, “You were always more than just my partner.”

Pond nodded, cheeks flushed, lips swollen from their kiss. “Same for me.”

Phuwin chuckled softly, stealing one last peck. “Let’s go to sleep. We have to wake up early.”

“Only if you let me cuddle you,” Pond murmured, still not moving.

“Okay, okay. I’ll do anything you ask today,” Phuwin laughed.

Pond sniffed along both sides of his neck before scooping him up and carrying him to the bedroom.
