Part of The Fated Stars Arc

Notes:

After many years, I’m slowly getting back to writing Kingdom Hearts fic again. Mainly based on my AU I've been working since I was in highschool.
I think by starting this AU again from Riku’s perspective would hopefully get the reader's attention, and depending how well it goes, or how motivated I am, I would shift POV to my main Oc.

But for now, let's see how far this story can go.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

~Five Years Ago~

It was a lovely dawn.

The sun rose over the horizon. Painting the cloudless sky with different shades of pink and blue. And the ocean glistened by the soft rays of sunlight, reflecting on the rippling surface.

On the sandy shores. There was a boy, gazing at a small island that was across the sea. As he sat on the warm sands, arms wrapped around his knees, and resting his head on top of it. While the salty breeze caressed his face and silver hair.

“So much for the best summer.” He murmured to himself. Thinking back what his friend once told him, at the very end of the school year.

In the last week or two. He had to say goodbyes to his two best friends because both were leaving their home island for the summer. One of which was visiting relatives on another island with his family, and the other going to a fancy resort with her adopted parents.

Basically, he was all alone for this summer.

He sighed to himself. Wondering what he was going to do without them. Visiting their favorite little island felt pointless, and his home town was so dull that nothing exciting ever happened. Not to mention, he dreaded spending most of his time at a house with parents who barely acknowledged.

Moments like these made him wish he could just leave this world with his friends, so they could go on real adventures together, and never be separated ever again. His two best friends were only people that matter to him. And he could care less what happened to this place. So long as he has those two, he wouldn’t have anything to worry about.

As he wallowed in his sorrow, a faint cry caught his attention. That was becoming louder by the second. He looked around to see who or what was making that sound, but found nothing—until he finally looked up at the sky.

His eyes grew wide and sprang up on his feet, when he saw a distinctive shape hurdling down to earth. It was twisting and flailing, and crying that sounded too human. He also caught sight of a bright glimmer coming from it, too. Whatever it was, he needed to act fast before it hit the ground.

He sprinted across the beach as sand flew everywhere with each step. Barely managed to arrive at the spot where it was about to make an impact. He stretched out arms, and by sheer luck, caught it in his hands. He nearly lost his balance but found his footing again.

What he caught was something he didn’t expect at all. It was no bigger than a plush toy. Cover in soft pale silver fur with dark-colored ears. A small and plumy, feather-like tail. On its forehead has a curl that seemingly covers a diamond-shape mark. A tiny pink nose. And around its neck, he noticed a tattered golden collar. That has a pink heart-shaped, prismatic gemstone dangling from it.

“A kitten?” He noted.

The poor thing was shaking nonstop. Ears flat against its head and paws covering their eyes, unaware that it was saved by him. He can’t imagine what this small kitten must’ve been through, and how it ended up falling from the sky in the first place.

It took a moment for the kitten to uncover their eyes and stare at him, curiously. Unsure what to make of him. While he was amazed by how big and bright blue they were, like a clear summer sky.

He put on a smile, hoping it would help to put the kitten at ease.

“Hey, little fella.” The silver-haired boy spoke ever so gently. He tried to pet but the kitten ducked its head, trying to avoid his touch. Which made him realize that he needed to take a different approach.

“It's alright, I’m not going to get hurt.” He said, “You're safe, I promise.”

The silver-furred kitten still seemed hesitant. But after a while, they decided to move their head close to his hand. Allowing him to pet it, and just like that, the kitten started to purr happily.

His smile grew wide on his face, that he managed to earned it trust. While he doesn’t consider himself much of a cat person, this one was the exception.

If only his two friends were here with him right now. Perhaps this summer wouldn’t be so lonely after all.
