Sleepy Moments

Summary:

In the year after arriving at House de Riva, Kal and Viago share a moment despite Viago trying everything to avoid it.

Work Text:

Kal yawns, sleepy after a fun day of training and baking. Aloe looks at him as he shovels his food into his mouth. It’s yummy, just like everything else he’s been given here.

“You shouldn’t stuff your mouth like that.” Lonely states with an emotion he doesn’t know the name of. “It’s gross.”

Kal stops, blinking at his sister. “Wha’dya mean?”

“Kalias. You know you shouldn’t speak with food in your mouth.” Viago scolds. “Don’t make me send you off without finishing dinner.” Kal freezes. He can’t lose dinner! It’s too yummy!

Kal eats quietly, slowing down so he gets to eat it all even though he ends up yawning several times. He blinks several times, his eyes growing heavy. Weird. He’s never been this sleepy while eati—

Viago sighs, picking Kal up to take him to the bath. Why does he still deal with this idiot? He knows this kid has skills, but is it really worth all the grief he gets in return?

“You two have the rest of the night off.” His wards look at him with various amounts of excitement. Kal might be a pain in his ass, but even Viago has to admit the boy has a generally positive affect on them.

A hand grabs his sleeve, refusing to let go. It’s fine. He just has to take the boy to the bath and then he can dump Kalias in his bed and be done with him for today. It’s a trivial enough matter to get this idiot clean. One that only takes a few minutes with the boy unconscious.

Kalias might still have his grip on Viago’s arm, and Viago might not know how the child sleeps so deeply sometimes, but really, he’s more than happy to use it to his advantage. How someone sleeps through a whole bath is unknown to him, but considering it’s the only way they get this idiot clean…

Well, whatever. He’s got Kal clean and now all he has to do is drop the strange boy in his room. Or that was the plan, anyway. Instead, Viago’s found himself in his own bed with Kalias still gripping to his clothes while snuggling into his side. It’s almost cute, but there’s a string of annoyance in him keeping Viago from relenting.

It might be warm. It might be cozy. But Viago refuses to fall asleep and let a ten-year-old beat him. He’ll just let himself rest his eyes after his long day while he plots a way to get Kal to release him.
