Summary:

Ejen Ali F1 AU fic

Since 2021, Ali Ghazali had been apart of one of 24 seats in Formula 1, alongside his childhood best friend, Alicia Kheng.

After some incidents in the team he joined, both of them rejoined, after 5 years not in the same team.

Chapter 1: PROLOGUE

Speed is definitely life for Ali Ghazali.

Since he was 8 years old, Dr. Ghazali and his wife, Aliya, had been bringing their son to karting. From there, his skill was sharpened into something both of them did not expect. Although Dr. Ghazali wanted his son to become a successful engineer, like himself, he didn’t mind Ali to be interested in karting and thus, his journey to become an F1 driver started. He climbed his way into Formula 3 and Formula 2, and finally he got his place in Formula 1.

2021

That was his first year in Formula 1. He finally got to meet the stars of the game; Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso. He managed to secure a driver’s seat in Gamma Racing, a racing team under his father’s company, pairing with Viktor Ong; which kind of sparked some controversies during the 2021 driver lineup introduction during mid-2020. In the same year too, his childhood friend, Alicia Kheng, also joined Formula 1 with MATA Racing after both of them performed well throughout their Formula 2 career. At the time, Max Verstappen was doing a great job after the 2020 Formula One Championship, landing in 3rd place behind Valtteri Bottas and Lewis Hamilton. The 2021 season started with the Bahrain Grand Prix and finished with the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Throughout the 2021 season, Viktor managed to secure a win in the Hungarian Grand Prix and 3 podiums, while Ali managed to secure 2 podiums. Max Verstappen finally got his first World Champion title and Sergio Perez managed to secure 4th for the Driver’s Championship, which only allowed Red Bull Racing to secure 2nd in the Constructors’ Championship. However, some people assumed that the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was rigged because a safety car was deployed in the final 2 laps and allowed the cars between Hamilton and Verstappen to overtake the safety car. Meanwhile, Gamma Racing was placed in 6th place and MATA Racing was placed in 7th place.

2022

In the middle of the year, Cyberaya Pioneer Foundation had found their way for major funding into MATA Racing, allowing their name to be stamped on the team for the 2023 season, into Cyberaya MATA Racing. Although some people thought it was a major change for the team, like when Lawrence Stroll took over Force India in 2018 and turned it into Racing Point for 2019 and Aston Martin Racing Team for 2021, Dato’ Othman, the mayor of Cyberaya, had stated that there won’t be any acquisition for the time being, as there was no point of owning a Formula 1 team, from his point of view. For the 2022 season, the reign of Verstappen had begun, which sparked Ali Ghazali to become a better driver for the team. Throughout the year, he managed to secure 4 podiums and Viktor managed to secure 2 wins and 3 podiums, allowing Gamma Racing to be placed in 4th in the Constructors’ Championship behind Red Bull Racing. 

2023

Rumors started spreading among drivers and teams about a filming of an upcoming F1 movie happening during some weekends. During a free practice session at the British Grand Prix, the film production team came to Silverstone to shoot their film there. All of the drivers were also given a talk regarding their roles for the F1 movie. During the summer break, Cyberaya Pioneer Foundation had declared that Gamma Racing will join the Cyberaya Wing, a group of Cyberaya-based racing teams funded by Cyberaya Pioneer Foundation, alongside Cyberaya MATA, with a new name of Cyberaya Gamma. With this "acquisition", the foundation was able to fund more money to both of the teams for their future success. This had sparked some controversies among the team. On one hand, both of the teams could finally escape the mid-field area of the competition allowing them to compete against the top dog of the sport. On the other hand, the public might view this “wing” type of racing teams could be potentially caused by some money laundering scheme. After all, Dato’ Othman isn’t the most favourable leader around the world due to his policy of not spreading the technology Cyberaya had, so it was also a potential scheme. However, Dato’ Othman had cleared himself in a media conference that he won’t be involved in this funding due to having no power in the Cyberaya Pioneer Foundation.

2024

Cyberaya’s Pioneer Foundation had decided to increase their fund to the Formula 1 scene for the 2024 season up to USD 100 million for each team under Cyberaya. Other than that, they also planned to build a circuit that could host a Formula 1 weekend for 2027. At the end of 2024, Alicia Kheng’s contract with Cyberaya MATA had come to an end and she decided to sign her contract as the third driver for Cyberaya Gamma. Some people in the crowd viewed it as a misdirection of her career, but for her, it might be finally time for her to step down a little bit from the chaos of the circuits before finding a chance to slip in her hidden talent.

2025 

The 2025 season had marked something on Cyberaya Gamma, importantly during the Brazilian Grand Prix towards the near end of the 2025 season. Viktor Ong unfortunately crashed at turn 10 while trying to avoid Ollie Bearman who was also oversteering to the barrier and blocking some parts of the track. This caused his wrist to be broken, and unable to finish the 2025 season. Due to this incident, Alicia decided to become the second driver for Cyberaya Gamma for the next 3 final Grand Prix. Soon enough, this would become the start of a new journey for both Ali and Alicia.
