Chapter Text

-

In a world, where the 4th ninja war never happened.
Lady Tsunade, the 5th hokage of the hidden leaf village, stepped down from the hat. As much as it was an honor, it all crashed down on her. Too much to handle, she tried to do what she could but she felt it wasn't her place.

Leading her to the conclusion of;

"And who will take the hat, tsunade?" one of the elders mumbled, unpleased by the sudden rock in the boat. To there knowledge, everything was /fantastic/.

Tsunade, holding her teacup in hand and looked up with a smirk. With words of confidence, she spoke.

"I nominate Kakashi hatake."

The room went silent for a moment. With careful consideration, it made sense. And that's how Kakashi ended up under the hat, at 32.

-

Kakashi hokage, lady Tsunade training Sakura more frequently now that she's retired the hat. Sasuke,, where ever he is. And Naruto.

Left standing by, as the rest accomplish there dreams. How could he get stronger, take more action?

His fist hit his palm. "I GOT IT!" The blonde shouted, "I'll join the anbu corps. Kakashi sensei would definitely agree!" With a new idea in hand, 16 year old Naruto went to kakashi.
-
//The map that leads to you, ain't nothing I can do.//
-

This was NOT going the way the fox expected it too.

"no." It was firm, no room left to argue. But knowing Naruto, that meant nothing.

His arms crossed, scowling back at the hokage.
"Why not?? I'm strong enough now! Me and Kurama are a bit more,, in sync." He spoke as if confusion laced his tongue.

Kakashi slowed, his pen no longer producing ink against the paper. His eyes glanced up. Detailing every part of Naruto. Slouching, arms crossed childishly, a stupid smile filled with frustration. A nice smile, that might get him killed one day.

"No, it's not that you aren't strong Naruto. I have full faith in your abilities. It's.." Kakashi thought about the brutal missions back then, the amount of blood shed. The storm that hovered over anyone who joined the corps really. It was no place for the boy. The sleepless nights, heart hammering wondering if you're still capable of feeling anything other then nothing. It gets more numbing the higher your kill count goes, yet addicting watching the missions rank through. It creates monsters. It created //him//

-"More complex then what you call for." He finished plainly, looking back down at the messy ink on the paper.

Naruto's eyes widen, eyebrows crunching downwards. With the way his breath caught, the grey hound could tell he wasn't exactly,,, happy. Kakashi braced himself for the loud ear full, and huffed softly.

"Too complex..? Is that how you think of me as Kakashi sensei. Stop thinking of me like im some kid. Haven't I proved myself enough?" The blonde replied, his voice cracked. It wasn't loud, it was the quiet opposite. Stern and low.

He didn't understand where this was coming from, why would Naruto even want to join? Kakashi's eyebrows creased, thinking about the scenario in his head. Images of his younger self flashing before his eyes. War, hatred, disappointment, it ringed in his ears. 'Haven't I proven myself enough?'
-
The tension in the air was thick, Naruto stared down at the hokage. His throat suddenly dry, anxiously waiting for an answer. Something, anything. The silence was deafening by the second. it was time for him to improve and move into a different league. He swallowed hard. His hands now by his sides, fist shut and clenched.
-
"If this is what you want, then I won't persuade any. You'll be placed into the anbu black ops corp." Kakashi said lowly, clearly detesting the idea. But he found some truth in it all, Naruto is strong, possibly stronger then himself. He couldn't deny that factor. Yet his skin crawls with dread.

The kid who had everything taken from him the moment he was born. Robbed, and treated as if he was a demon. Yet the fox never won, the darkness that dwells within him is purely suited for being a anbu. Nine tails lurking in the shadows, firey chakra that burns from inside the seal.

But that wasn't Naruto. The beast inside was merely part of him physically. Not mentally. The good seemed to seep in uncontrollably; no matter the circumstance. It was,, like a fresh breathe of air. Drowning in deep blue eyes that he can't say no too.

Naruto eyes shot up, his hands no longer by his side and in the air celebrating. "thank you sensei! You wont regret it." He declared, sticking his right arm out and giving a thumbs up. The other on his hip. His confidence unwavering, almost ensuring Kakashi. But it doesn't

"I believe you. Ill fill out the paper work. But my one condition is; You have to be teamed with sai." Spoken with a stern tone, this is something Naruto has no say in. 'I could trust sai enough to ensure naruto won't be too reckless.' It carried through his bloodline of course. Not breaking eye contact for a spilt second. He watched naruto's face act in disgust.

"WHATT? THAT GUY. He's just a wannabe sasuke." Naruto grunted. Whole body stiffing at the mention. It was still a sore spot. Kakashi never blamed him, with obito in mind. Although, suppose it was different. He never did what Naruto did for sasuke.

He shook his head. "Do you want to join or not? This is your golden ticket." Kakashi smirked at the remark, tapping the desk with his free hand. Making Naruto grow more frustrated.

"Urgghh fine! Just because he's going with me on mission's doesn't mean I'll listen to that jerk!" And with that, he turned around and stormed out the office

'What if you regret it, naruto?' Kakashi thought to himself, his eyes turning back down at his desk. His fist gripped the pen, almost breaking it. Time kept going despite his wishes. He leaned back in chair and sighed. What has he gotten himself into with this position? Wearing the hat his dear sensei wore before him, and dealing with his brat of a son.
