Work Text:

During sixth year at Hogwarts Remus calmed down. He slipped back into a routine of sorts, let himself relax again.

After reuniting with the marauders, Remus made sure not to forget about his other friends. Whenever their schedules aligned, he hanged out with Barty, Evan, Reggie and Pandora. It was at least once in two weeks which was just fine. Remus didn't lack social interaction and they moved on. It was nice tho, to be on good terms with them. Because knowing Remus is on both 'sides', they stopped attacking eachother. Or rather Regulus stopped being an asshole to Sirius, Sirius decided to talk to his brother again and Sirius and Barty stopped fighting physically. It was calmer and Remus, if anyone, loves calm.

That's how he found himself with Pandora in the woods. They were supposed to study today but they quickly put down their books to hang out. Pandora read from his palm, tracing lines with her long nails, as they chatted.

"Remus, are you gay?" She asked as she traced his lifeline.

"No." Remus chuckled at the bold question

"You slept with Evan and Barty, and you kissed Regulus." She says as if reminding him "You're not straight."

"Didn't say I was straight." Remus smirked "I'm bi. Bisexual."

"Oh, nice." Pandora let go off his palm and looked at the trees "So, everyone?"

"Yes, everyone." Remus nodded

"How did you figure that out?" She turned to look at him, meeting her eyes.

Remus shrugs, looking into her beautiful eyes. "I dunno. I just let myself kiss someone and decided if I like it. I liked kissing everyone so far."

"You never kissed everyone and not liked it?" She scoffs "Lucky."

"Why? Who did you kiss?" He smiles at her in amusement, knowing where this is headed

"Just some guy from my year." Pandora shrugs

"And you didn't like it?" He asks and she shakes her head. "So you're wondering how I figured out I like men?"

"Or how you figured out you liked women?" She adds, looking back over at the trees

"I don't know, Dora." He shrugs "That's some things you have to figure out for yourself. Just because you didn't like kissing that guy does mean you don't like kissing any guy. Maybe it was him."

"You think so?" She asks almost hopefully

"Yeah, maybe he was a bad kisser." Remus shrugs, playing with a loose thread on the blanket they're sitting on.

"Are you a good kisser?" Pandora asks "Can I kiss you?"

"Dora…" he starts but she is quick to add context

"Platonically. Although, I objectively know people fancy you so…" she looks into his eyes.

Remus smiles and sits up straigher. "Sure."

Pandora smiles at him and, not waiting a second, kisses him. Her lips are plump, slippery from lipgloss and slightly spicy because of the chilly chips they ate earlier.

She is quick to pull back, looking flabbergasted.

"What?" He chuckles.

"I think… I think I'm a lesbian…"

Remus laughs slightly, stopping himself not to offend her "Is this a good moment to say this isn't the first time someone said that after kissing me?"

Pandora chuckles and lies down on the blanket with a smile on her face.

Surprisingly so, this isn't the last time Remus has to solve a sexualitie crisis before leaving Hogwarts.

In spring of their seventh year, just two days before their Potions finals, James comes back into the dorm after a study session and looks at Remus as if begging for help

"Moony?"

"Yeah?" Remus mumbles without looking up from his book. Peter and Sirius are out in Hogsmeade, and James was at a study session with someone, he's refusing to say who, so Remus took the opportunity to study by himself since Lily is hanging out with the girls, and can't study with him.

"Remus, this is serious." James sits on Remus's bed, looking at him.

"Yeah, sure. Sorry." Remus sighs and looks up at him "What's up?"

"I think…" James starts, fidgeting his hands and bitting his lip. "I don't fancy Evans anymore."

"'Bout time, mate." Remus chuckles "Is that it? Come on, James. You'll find someone."

"Yeah, yeah. I'm just, well," he sighs, meeting Remus's eyes "I'm not sure who I'm looking for. I mean, I may… I think I'm not very straight?"

"Alright." Remus nods "That's fine. As you know, I'm bi. It's no big deal."

"It's not but… I want to figure it out. I know I like gals, so I'm wondering about the other part. And I don't know anyone else who is… open to that stuff."

"Prongs, what?" Remus chuckles, looking at James with such amusement and humor

"Can I snog you? To figure out if I like it." James blurts out, fidgeting with his hands and picking at his nails

"You want to snog, platonically, I assume, to figure out if you like boys?" Remus asks, trying to keep the grin out of his voice although he fails not to actually grin

"Yeah." James nods.

"Alright." Remus says, the grin on his face widening "That's very ridiculous but sure."

James sighs and stands up, standing in front of Remus and taking his face in his hands. He points Remus's head up at an approachable angle and collides their lips.

James kisses softly, like he's treasuring everything and savouring the moment. Remus smiles into the kiss, nipping James' bottom lip and earning a chuckle.

James deepens the kiss, his hands sliding down to Remus's shoulders. James tastes of caramels and hazelnuts. He's holding Remus firmly but in a way that's reassuring him the hold can disappear any moment.

When they pull apart, Remus smiles at him.

"Okay?" He asks as James throws himself onto Remus's bed, face down in the mattress.

"I'm definitely not straight." He mumbles

"Good for you." Remus chuckles. "Gonna tell me who you like? Tell me whoever is giving you potion lessons?" Remus asks, chuckling "Is it Amor Diggory? He's a handsome bloke. Or maybe Egdar Bones? Oh, fuck, please tell me it's not Lockhart?"

"Regulus." James mumbles into the mattress and Remus freezes. He looks at James for a few seconds, waiting for the other to laugh or indicate it was a joke in any way. He doesn't.

"Regulus…" Remus echoes "As in Regulus Black? Sirius' brother?"

James nods and Remus rolls over to lay next to him.

"Merlin, Prongs, you know how to choose them."

James shrugs and turns his head to look at Remus.

"What do I do?" He asks Remus desperately

"Make a bunker."

"A bunker?" James questions "For what?"

"Well, I have information Regulus has a thing for you." Remus explains "So, sooner or later you two will do something. Sirius is bound to find out and well, when he does. That's when the bunker comes into action."

"You think he'll freak out." James asks with a groan of desperation "He so will, won't he?"

"Yup. And if he asks, I didn't know." Remus says, standing up and putting his books away.

"Traitor!" James laughs, throwing a pillow at him. Remus laughs and avoids the pillow.

Sirius might freak out but Remus is sure he'll come around to it, he loves James and Regulus both so dearly that he must let them be happy. And Remus is sure they will be once they get together.
