It was another day of successful hero work for krisis, they were on the car back to A.S.H headquarters to fill their report on the mission. “After all this time, why do we still have to do the reports in person?? I swear they keep treating us like rookies” Wilson complains on the back of the car.
“You always whine about it, yet you're the cause of why we have to extend them” Vanta retorts back, a little tired from the day’s mission.
“Yeah it’s always Wilson the one that fucks up like you don't cause collateral damage with your strength” both heroes keeps bickering while the medic hero laughed at their usual antics.
“Anyways, Vanta, didn't you have something to say?” Zali finally stops them and successfully changes the topic.
“Oh right! Wilson, do you remember my son Kaelix? He’s coming back to the country and will be staying with us while he finds an apartment for himself”.
To this the youngest hero perks up “oh cool, no problem” he's always been curious about his friend's mysterious son, after all those years of friendship he's only heard of him a couple of times, in fact, this would be the third time in more than ten years. Considering their current (and previous) line of work makes sense though, himself being quite secretive about his own past.
The group of heroes finally arrives at the headquarters, however, the usually loud and energetic hero does his reports in silence, looking lost in thought. Vanta and Zali exchange glances of concern, this always happens whenever the topic of family is brought up, they haven't got any more details besides him coming from a family of assassin's, and that was just by the conclusion they got by the little snippets of lore they had in all those years.
Vanta’s phone vibrates on the desk,
- Dad!!
-It's been soooo long 🥹🥹🥹
-I'll be back on Wednesday
-Will u pick me up??
Vanta looks fondly to the messages while he answers and shows something to Zali.
“Must be nice…” Wilson says so low, almost like a whisper of a ghost.
Vezalious has always been very observant, he has seen how Wilson reacts every time someone mentioned family, how he would look sad, sometimes just yearning and other times even haunted by the word and how he would freeze momentarily every time they encounter someone with white hair. He's also seen how he would look at them, he knows he's happy his friends have each other, his expression doesn't lie, neither does it hide the yearning.
At first Zali thought Wilson might have been in love with one of them, but that idea died quickly, it would be obvious if that was the case. His only conclusions are that he might have been in a relationship before joining ASH, and that something might have happened but still can’t grasp what would be.
He just hopes his friend would be fine with Kaelix living with them.
“My love, are you sure you want me to accompany you to pick him up? I know he gets overwhelmed easily and maybe meeting his dad's boyfriend might be too much for him.” Zali asks again, he wouldn't usually do that, however the idea of meeting Kaelix does makes him slightly nervous, after all, he hopes they could get along.
Despite what you might think, Zali has never seen Kaelix in person and the only pictures he's seen has been of when Vanta officially adopted him and the occasional update photo, he only had the chance to greet each other through Vanta’s phone calls.
“It’s exactly why I think it's better if we go together, he would be even more overwhelmed if he meets with you and Wilson at the same time, besides, he already loves you.” Vanta reassured him once again.
Having reached an agreement the couple gets in the car, and enjoys the ride talking about random things and singing along the radio. Once they reach the airport, they start looking for Kaelix.
“Kae mentioned he's grown quite a lot since I last saw him, he should be easy to-” Vanta gets interrupted by a sudden collision.
“Daad!!!” Zali only was able to see how a giant teen throws himself into Vanta's arms, he looks fondly at them
“Dad Zali!! It'ssogoodtofinallymeetyou!ihopeyoudontmindificallyoulikethat,icancallyousomethingelseifyouprefer” The teen, Kaelix, starts speaking at a pace so fast that it makes it a little difficult to keep up.
Zali was a little startled by the sudden hug “It's fine don't worry” he's surprised on how easy going Kaelix is, he just has a little concern… Why does his boyfriend's adoptive son looks like Wilson when they just had gotten into A.S.H?... Whatever, it's just a coincidence.
They spend the rest of the morning talking about Kaelix trip, and how he was actually very excited to meet one of his favorite heroes (not considering his dads obviously) to this, the heroes looked slightly concerned, they just hoped Kaelix wouldn't take it personally that Wilson would not be his happy/outgoing self. It would be fine…
After a quick lunch they arrive at their shared home, only to find an abandoned tentapod with a note.
I took a giga secret mission, I'll be back soon. Wilson
“Oh dang it! Wait, it is true that he always leaves behind Tentapod, I thought that was just a bit, you poor boy” Kaelix says as he pets the ‘poor boy’, and the hero couple looks at each other with concern.
