Work Text:
Crowley had, as far as the last several thousand years were concerned, grown accustomed to loneliness. He had never much fancied the companionship offered by the others in Heaven, instead preferring the company of his stars.
Not that he often considered the times before his fall. He knew, logically, that there had been a Before, but didn’t quite see the point in considering it.
The Before didn’t hold everything he found most comforting in the After. The Before did not have any clever little humans, with their clever little minds. It did not have alcohol, and how he truly coveted a good vintage. It did not have the fun of temptation, or the fascinating little fish that filled the waters, or the clever little birds that sang their funny little songs.
The Before, by and large, did not have his Angel.
But the after, oh, the After had his angel in abundance.
