Defendants Lobby
'Alright Liz, this might be your first trial ever...but you can do this. Just stay calm, stay calm, stay-' A brunette women in a black suit thinks to herself, while nervously pacing around the lobby before her thoughts got interrupted.
"Easy there Ms. Sharp, no need to run around like that." a man in a grey suit with a 3 day beard and greying hair, wearing a fedorra with a feather and pokercard says smirking, at the nervous Lawyer making her jump before she sighs regaining her composure.
"Detective Morgan! There you are." the Lawyer, Elisabeth Sharp said to the man who doesn't drop his smirk.
Detective James Morgan blows a bubble of gum, before it pops. "Are you nervous Ms. Sharp?" he asked, the woman nodded.
"Y-yeah a little, this is going to be my first trial in a real court of law after all." the woman says, before sighing again, the detective shakes his head smirking.
"As opposed to a fake court?" he asks but all he get's is a "huh?" in response, the investigator let's out a laugh before cracking a smile. "I understand your nervousness, it's a good thing I am here for you then right?" the detective says, getting a nod in response.
'That's right', Elisabeth thinks, 'Detective Morgan said he was going to be my assistant for today. He has been in a court many times by now so he will be a big help me for today.' the woman thinks, relief washes over her until...
Morgan begins speaking again. "So, you got your court record and everything ready right?" Morgan asks, making Elisabeth gasp with panic.
"!" Elisabeth pales, "Oh my- I for- I need to run back to my office and grab those! Please excuse me and tell the court I'm gonna be late, if I am fast enough maybe I can-" before she gets any further, Morgan interupts her.
"Slow your horses young lady, you're not going anywhere." he says with a serious expression. "I got all you need right here with me." the detective says presenting the court record.
"oh."
Obtained Court Record Folder. Court Record Folder has been added to your Items, You can now access the Court Record.
Elisabeth lets out a sigh of relief, "Thanks Mr. Morgan, I'd be screwed without this." Elisabeth proclaims.
"You are welcome." the man says back to her, "So, are you ready to enter the court now? Everyone's waiting for us." he asks.
Elisabeth shakes her head, "I...don't feel ready, can I really do this?" she asks, James Morgan let's out a "huh?" in response.
He tilted his head, "What do you mean?" he askes, Elisabeth looks down.
"W-well, what if I'm gonna fail?! What if I'm not gonna be good enough!?" She asked. "I mean, an innocent person's life is depending on me, I don't know if I can-"
"Elisabeth!" Morgan cuts her off, "Don't overthink this, I know this might seem difficult without any other lawyer by your side for this case but I belive you can do it." The detective says, "after all you have done well in all your previous cases so far." he nods, looking at her admirably and proud.
Elisabeth is not convinced, "Yeah but, the previous cases were all civil cases! This is a full blown murdercase, this is an entirely diffrent beast!" She said nervous.
The detective shakes his head at her nervousness, taking a pause to think before responding.
"Think about it like this Mrs. Sharp: you want to protect someone innocent, someone who did no wrong." James said, Elisabeth nodded.
"Okay." she responded.
James continued, "Now, think about how hopeful she looked when you accepted her case. Use the hope and trust she put into you as your fuel and motivation to protect an innocent girl from the injustices of this world." Elisabeth nods smilling.
'That's right!', she thinks, 'my client is a girl named Alyssa Allen. She has a criminal record and is currently on probation for larceny, apparently she frequently stole jewelry and other expensive goods to resell them for money.' Elisabeth thought.
'Her parents hired me to defend her in court at the last minute (apparently they struggled to find a good criminal defence), the whole world seems to belive that she commited the murder of William von Gegangen, an old man who works at an antique shop titled "William's Antiquties". The police seems to believe that she commited a robbery of his store and killed him during the robbery, but they are wrong and I am going to prove it.' Elisabeth thinks, she takes a deep breath.
"That's right! I am going to defend her, or my name isn't Elisabeth Sharp!" Elisabeth said with conviction, giving James a genuine smile.
"Now that's what I like to hear, let's get them then Elisabeth." Moran said, before the two enter the court room.
