Chapter Text
The moment you get a name engraved in your skin is always relative-- you could literally meet them that same morning and then see the name appear later at night. Or you could've had that name since you were born and meet that person until your mid-teens. Days, weeks, or years, the time for when you are gonna meet that person is relative.
In Ryouta's case, he's had a name engraved in bright, red colors since he was seven years old.
'Daiki'. That's what it read on the left side of Ryouta's hip bone.
"That's so dumb", said Shintarou one day when they were nine years old. It was a summer day, and they were hanging out and eating popsicles in Ryouta's backyard, while both of their mothers were talking in the living room. "How can you already know it's love?" The green-haired was a smart kid, always seemed to point out the obvious things, and happened to think before acting. Ryouta was none of those things; he really could use that wisdom.
There was a hum that emanated from the blond's throat, suddenly in deep thought while still eating that popsicle. He then looked up at the bright, cloudless sky; a bird then passed by, and Ryouta wondered where that bird was going. "I don't know", shrugs off. "Maybe it's destiny? Like in those romantic cheesy movies my sisters watch". Oh, to be young and just think that romance is so easy. At that time, they were just children, so they didn't know any better.
They didn't know what love can do to someone / didn't know how far one is willing to go for love / didn't know that loving someone can make you feel everything and nothing at all at the same time.
They didn't know that loving someone meant that the person in question had power over your heart.
They didn’t know the pain that came from loving, and how could they have known? They were just children, naive to all those things / unable to protect themselves from that kind of attachment.
The conversation could've kept going, but Shintarou's mother called to him. Saying that they had to leave and make dinner for his father, who was going to come home earlier that day. Ryouta said his goodbyes and just stayed outside the porch for the rest of the evening. Thinking. Thinking. Just thinking, wondering how destiny was going to make him and this 'Daiki' person cross paths. He's known for being the most impatient, but he'll try and wait for as long as it's needed.
He stayed outside for a while longer, until the sun started to hide and the sky greeted the moon. It was then that Ryouta's mother called him for dinner.
Maybe tomorrow will be the big day.
…
And he said that to himself for years to come, eventually forgetting.
