Pangi stared at her ceiling. She couldn't sleep. She got out from her bed, staring out and looking through Wemmbus window. There wasn't much to see outside from the decor she left her. She debated about going to see Jaron. She hasn't talked to him in a while.
She stared at her shoes on the floor, before deciding to put them on and leave the house.
It was quiet outside, she enjoyed the breeze that it gave. She headed out to the castle, resisting the urge to fly over. It wasn't like she needed to anyway. She depended on her wings too much.
She hasn't visited Jaron in a while, she wondered what he would say to her. He always seemed eager to be around her. She thought it was nice of them. He was always so enthusiastic.
She ended up at the castle door, looking up at the entrance. She always wondered why Jaron needed such a large place. Did he even know all of the rooms?
She made her way to Jarons room, staring at the ground while doing so. She knocked on the door and called out Jarons name. "Jaron! You there buddy?"
"Come in!" He shouted back. Pangi let herself into his room. He was faced away from her, she could barely see his body as his large wings covered most of it.
"M- Pangi! What's up man?" He turned around to face her. He fidgeted with his sweater before apologizing.
"Sorry— I was expecting someone else." He stated, he seemed to relax after realizing it wasn't Minemanner.
"It's good man." She walked over to Jaron, the closer she looked the more she saw how tired he looked. He seemed disheveled.
"Can I stay with you tonight?" She questioned, staring down at Jaron. She would've expected him to be taller, but what does she know?
"Of course!" He clasped his hands together and smiled. It seemed very forced coming from him, but she didn't say anything. She didn't want to bother him more than she already has.
She took her shoes off, placing them next to the bed as she laid down.
Jaron took longer to go into bed, he turned off the lights and laid down beside her. He covered himself with a majority of the blanket and closed his eyes.
Pangi shuffled herself closer to Jaron, gently hugging him. He let her do it, it felt nice to be held by her again.
He heard noises from the ceiling, causing him to flinch. Pangi jumped in suprise of the occurrence.
"You okay Jaron?" She asked. The to had sat in silence for a moment before Jaron spoke up.
"Am I a good leader?" He questioned, Pangi wasn't really expecting anything of the sorts— regardless she still responded accordingly.
"You're a great leader Jaron." In all honesty she didn't believe herself when she said that. Jaron wasn't known for being a good guy or anything.
"You wouldn't leave me— right?" She could feel him tense up under her, clinging onto her. She knew she wanted to leave. She couldn't stay here forever.
She was planning on leaving, they all were one way or another. She didn't want to lie to Jaron, but what other option was there?
"Of course not." She let out a nervous chuckle, though it seemed to calm Jaron down a bit.
He could see right through her. He knew her well enough after spending a year with one another. But he wanted to believe it— just for a moment longer he wanted to indulge in a fantasy where nothing was wrong. Where it was just the two of them.
He looked up at Pangi, leaning in towards her before stopping. "May I?" He asked, receiving a nod from Pangi.
He kissed her, they've done this many times before— but it felt different this time. It felt right. He could feel his feelings of sorrow melt away, even if it was just for a second.
He pulled away, breathing heavily as he laid atop of Pangi. She seemed to enjoy it, that made him feel good inside. He could finally show his worth to someone.
"You're good man." Was all she said. She was never the serious type, though it comforted him a little.
"Thanks." He grabbed his face, pulling her close.
"I missed being with you dude." Pangi stated. She missed his company, or just anyones for that matter. Sure, she and Jaron had a relationship. If she could even call it that. But she loved interacting with everyone else as well.
"I missed you too." He replied. "Let's go to bed, yeah? I need my beauty sleep." He joked, earning a chuckle from Pangi.
Pangi drifted off to sleep, leaving Jaron with his thoughts alone.
He thought about his kingdom, his people. He knew downfall was inevitable. Nothing good ever lasts forever. He hopes maybe— just maybe it could live to see another week. Another month, another year.
He wanted it to stay like this forever. But he knew what Minemanner was up to, he wasn't stupid.
Sometimes he wished he was oblivious. He wished that he coul pretend a little longer.
He could act like everything was fine, no one would leave, no one would get hurt.
He knew he was wrong. In a year, a week, this would all be over. But right now it was still here. Pangi was still here.
Wasn't that all he needed anyway?
Still, it wasn't enough. It was never going to be enough.
He tried to stop himself from tearing up, it was unlike him to do so. Though he couldn't.
He sniffled, this was everything to him. He couldn't loose it just like that. He mourned the loss of his kingdom, even if it was still here.
He knew it was going to be gone. He might as well do it now.
In a few days he was going to lose everything. He was going to be fine with that.
He still had it now. That was would be alright with him. It had to be.
