Mizuki was putting the dishes away into the dishwasher, having just finished eating. Since breakfast, Mafuyu had been holed away in her room, busy studying and working on projects again, so the pink haired girl had taken it upon herself to make them lunch. She had made cream of mushroom soup with some freshly made garlic bread, a special treat since she knew her girlfriend had been working hard.
"Thank you for lunch dear." Mafuyu kissed her girlfriend on the cheek
"Of course~!" Mizuki cooed, "I'm going to head out to pick up some fixings for dinner tonight, do you wanna come along?"
"Do you mind if I stay home? I'm feeling a bit tired."
"Of course!" Mizuki figured that Mafuyu was tired from staying up the night before, and was more than happy to let the sleepy girl rest. She could take on the groceries on her own.
Arriving at the grocery store, Mizuki immediately headed to the baking section. She loved baking, but was nowhere near as good as Mafuyu, she loved the purple haired girls pastries, her favourite being her apple strudel. Oh! Poppy seeds are on sale, we can use that for potica! Mizuki thought to herself before grabbing a bag. She was always thinking of new things the two could make together, which really meant that she would watch as Mafuyu meticulously followed the instructions while she waited until Mafuyu needed something or gave her instructions for something simple like mixing. As she walked around, she mentally went through her list, carrots, celery, onions, parsley, chicken. She figured that she could get home, start prepping some chicken soup, and finish up her video editing while it simmered until dinner time. After she had finished gathering all her ingredients, she began walking to the checkout when a display caught her eye. Lavender honey, I bet Mafuyu would love that for her teas, she thought as she grabbed a jar. She knew Mafuyu loved her teas and her honeys, and thought this would be a nice surprise for her girlfriend.
Once home, Mizuki stepped through the door to silence. She figured that with the silence, Mafuyu would probably be sleeping and didn't want to wake her, and so entered their home as quietly as possible. Quickly, she put away the groceries, before going to check on Mafuyu, opening the door just enough to get a peak inside. Sure enough, the girl was resting. It's best that I let her rest, she thought to herself, before heading into the kitchen to start prepping dinner. She started by chopping the carrots, celery and onions in quarters, adding them into a larger stock pot, followed by the chicken, parsley and some salt, before covering it all with water and setting it on the stove to boil. Mizuki set a timer for 2 hours, with half hour intervals to check on it, she figured she could get some work done in the meantime. On her way back to her room, she passed by her girlfriends room, when she heard her coughing.
"Mafuyu?" She called, walking back to the door, "are you alright~?" She peered in to see the girl sitting up in bed, looking disheveled and tired, despite having just woken up from a nap.
Mafuyu sneezed, "I think I've caught a cold".
"Oh honey," Mizuki walked over to feel her forehead, "not too hot, so I don't think its a fever, that's good."
Mafuyu nodded, "I should be well enough to help with dinner." She started to get up when she suddenly felt weak in her legs.
"No! What you need is rest!" exclaimed Mizuki, sitting the purple haired girl back down in bed. "Stay here, lie down, and rest. I'll take care of dinner, would you like some tea for now?"
"Yes please." Mafuyu whispered, her throat feeling sore.
Mizuki leaned in to brush a strand of purple hair out of her girlfriends face. "You don't need to speak if your throat hurts okay~?"
Mafuyu nodded.
"I'll be right back, please, get some rest~!" Mizuki walked back to the kitchen, filling the kettle and prepping Mafuyu's tea.
How lucky I am to have gotten this new honey, Mizuki thought to herself pulling out her favourite cat mug. She added the tea leaves to the filter before pouring the boiling water into the cup, and taking a spoonful of their new lavender honey. She brought the mug back into the sick girls room, placing it gently on the nightstand beside her where she lay.
"Mafuyu~! You'll never believe what they had on sale today!" she said, sitting down onto the bed. Mafuyu looked up at her, waiting for her to elaborate. "Lavender honey! I immediately thought of you when I saw it."
Mafuyu took a sip of her tea and smiled.
"Do you like it?" She watched as the girl nodded. "I'm glad~!"
Mizuki stood up, pulling the covers back over Mafuyu, tucking her in. "You need to get some more rest now, I'll wake you up when it's time for dinner."
Mafuyu just nodded, snuggling back under the covers with her shark plush.
Mizuki leaned down and gave her a kiss on the cheek, "sleep well honeybun~"
Mizuki was just finishing up her video editing work when she started to feel hungry, she glanced at the bottom right of her monitor, 6:40pm, time for dinner. She had taken periodic breaks to tend to the soup and by now it was ready, but first, her girlfriend. She got up from her desk and walked over to Mafuyu's room, opening the door and walking over to her bed, sitting on the end as she watched her slowly wake up.
"Good morning sleepyhead~" Mizuki cooed, "feeling well enough for some soup?"
Mafuyu sat up, taking a sip of her tea and nodded.
"Alright, stay here then," the pink haired girl stood up, "I'll bring you a bowl."
Grabbing a bowl for herself and Mafuyu, Mizuki dished out the chicken soup and brought both back to Mafuyu's room.
The two enjoyed dinner together, with Mafuyu praising Mizuki's cooking, and afterwards, opted to spend the rest of the night watching a movie. The two cuddled under the blankets, and Mizuki watched as Mafuyu slowly drifted to sleep admiring how pretty she looked, even now, before she herself also succumbed to the sleepiness.
