The rooftop of the Pizza Plex was mostly always restricted from the animatronics, due to weather conditions and other issues. However, tonight was a special occasion, for once, Vanessa allowed the animatronics to step up on the rooftop. No one was sure why today, but Montgomery took advantage of it, he was always curious of how outside looked.

The cool breeze instantly brushed against his shell, it slid between the crevices of his joints, the feeling was oddly therapeutic. Montgomery observed the dark canvas of the sky, white dots splattered over it, varying in brilliance and size. He removed his glasses to see the sight better, truly his inner workings couldn’t process the sight. Taking his gaze off the sky, Montgomery shifted it to over to the city that stretched on over the horizon. The alligator rested his arms against the metal railing, sunglasses held in his right hand as he watched the glimmering city glow ahead of him.

“It’s quite the view.”

A familiar voice started to speak behind him, Montgomery turned his head to see Roxanne approaching him, walking with leisure. He returned to the city lights after Roxanne halted beside him.

“Yeah, never seen somethin’ like this in a while.”

The wolf nodded in agreement, mimicking Montgomery’s stance. She sighed and glanced down at her claws, a subtle smile curved on her lips.

“Nothing like this, ever, to be honest.”

Her eyes gazed back up to the city, a melancholy expression laced her face. If animatronics could tear up, Roxanne would’ve right now.
Montgomery looked at her, wordless, but his eyes were enough to have Roxanne talking.

“Was here with Cassie last time, and up here was really our last actual conversation.”

Roxanne swiveled her head away, her big, stylish hair blocking any excess view of her face. Montgomery watched with guilt, albeit he understood that there was nothing less that he could’ve done. Roxanne’s loss felt personal to him as well, Montgomery didn’t understand why, but the best he could do now was to just comfort his friend.

He wrapped his arm around Roxanne’s shoulder, gently pulling her in for a side hug. The wolf seemed surprised, surprised that Montgomery could be this soft. But comfort was comfort, Roxanne wrapped her arms around Montgomery’s waist melting into the embrace.

“Yo, I’m not really sure what’a say, but I’m here if you ever need me.”

He said, lightly patting Roxanne’s arm with comfort.

“Thank you.”

The sounds of nearby traffic and cars rolling about on the highway flooded the silence that followed.

“I love you.”

Montgomery shifted his head to Roxanne’s.

“Same.”
