Work Text:
Jimmy and Scott were finally back in Hermiton after their very brief holiday away, if a forced ‘team building’ weekend away with his company could be classed as a hoilday. He hated working in retail management as is, being forced into these every six months only made it worse.
“I am so glad you can understand why I hate going to these things.” Jimmy shouted to Scott who was getting out of the shower. “Bethan was a right cow the whole time.”
“I’m going to be honest love, I had no problems when I was there. Everyone was lovely.” Scott replied, walking out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel.
“Well ye, as soon as you go there the wife brigade adopted you as one of their own.” Jimmy smiled, still laying in bed. He was lucky enough to have the day off today. “I had to go and do team building stuff with my co-workers.”
“Sucks for you then doesn’t it.” Scott smiled, sitting on the bed with a hair dryer.
“Just be lucky Carol didn’t bring her husband this time.” Jimmy shuddered.
“Oh I did hear about that. They told me a lot of gossip about that shop of yours.” Scott winked.
“What- no. Scott, what did they say?” Jimmy asked, sitting up.
“What was that?” Scott asked, turning the hair dryer on. “Can’t hear you.”
Jimmy turned away and huffed as his fiancé.
“Oh Jim, don’t be like that.” Scott smiled, turning the dryer off and unplugging it. “There was nothing bad about you. Although one of them did say they’d swap you for Richard, if that helps.”
“Really?” Jimmy asked, trying not to look too happy about it.
“Really.” Scott said, standing up. He went around the bed to where Jimmy had turned away. He lent over Jimmy and held his chin gently. He whispered in Jimmy’s ear. “Don’t worry, I told her you’re mine.”
Jimmy shivered. Scott knew he was helpless when he stood over him like that.
Jimmy reached up to place his hands on Scott’s bare hips and looked up, pleading at Scott.
“Maybe later babe.” Scott smirked down at him. He leant down and placed a kiss on Jimmy’s forehead. “I leave for work in ten minutes.”
With that Scott moved back towards the opposite side of the bed to get changed, but decided to put a little extra wiggle into his hips, just for Jimmy.
Jimmy whined.
—
“I’ll be back usual time tonight, okay?” Scott told Jimmy. He picked up his rucksack and headed for the door. “Let me know if you want me to pick anything up on my way home or if you want to cook.”
“Will do.” Jimmy replied. Both leaning into a kiss good bye. “Drive safe.”
“I always do love.”
With that Scott was gone and Jimmy was left to his own devices for the next eight and a half hours. He knew he would be giving Grian a visit later in the day. Of course his brother would get stabbed the moment he leaves the city. He’ll have to thank Mumbo for looking after Grian.
That was a thought.
He let out a sigh of relief, knowing that his secret was safe for another day. But, it could be a thought about telling Mumbo one day. Maybe when Grian isn’t still bed ridden, but that was a decision for future Jimmy. Current Jimmy was wondering if it would be too early for a patrol. He had only been away four days and he had missed his suit.
With that finale thought he rushed to his and Scott’s room to change.
He pulled open the wardrobe and bent on one knee, reaching in to pull out the box of shoes, the ones they wore once and will never look at again. He reached back into the bottom and clicked the false floor out of place and lifted it up. Inside were two carrier bags (One Tesco and one Iceland), he pulled them out and moved to the bed.
Emptying the contents onto the bed revealed his hero costume “The Sheriff”. He may not be the most recognised, but he was happy helping people.
He put the Wardrobe back the way it’s meant to be and pulled out his phone again. This time putting on his Hero hype playlist and getting ready.
He jumped in the shower and sung his heart out to the songs that played, before putting his costume on.
He had half the costume on when he heard a fake cough behind him.
He span around quicker than he had ever moved before. Leaning against the door way was Scott.
“Sooo, when were you going to tell me?” Scott asked. Jimmy couldn’t read if he was upset or angry, but he could tell he sure as hell wasn’t happy.
“I umm… I don’t know what you mean.” Jimmy tried to play dumb.
“Righhtt, just a big fan is it?” Scott asked.
“Yes?” Jimmy replied, as a question.
Scott stayed silent, waiting for Jimmy to say anything.
Jimmy on the other hand was waiting for Scott to explode at him.
“Right, well, if it helps I was going to tell you… Eventually.” Jimmy eventually said.
“Eventually?” Scott asked.
“Ye, well I was worried. You always worry about me doing silly things, I didn’t want to give you more of a reason to worry.” Jimmy answered. He sat on the bed, still in nothing but Jeans, Cowboy boots and his utility belt.
“Oh Jim.” Scott cooed. He moved to kneel in front of Jimmy on the floor. “I’m always going to worry about you, it’s just in my nature.”
“I know.” Jimmy replied, still avoiding eye contact with Scott. “You can’t stop me.”
“I’m not going to stop you, don’t worry about that.” Scott said, cupping Jimmy’s face and pulling it up to meet his eyes. “I would be a hypocrite if I tried.”
“What?” Jimmy asked, eyes going wide.
“Ye, I won’t stop you babe.” Scott repeated, leaving a kiss on Jimmy’s head. We will talk about this, but I really need to get going to work. They’re already upset that I left work at home and had to come get it.”
“Wait, no, we… Ye, okay.” Jimmy pulled Scott’s hand back to cup his face again, then turned it and gave it a few gentle kisses. “I love you.”
“I love you too.” Scott smiled, pulling Jimmy in for a real kiss. “I’ll meet you on the top of our cafe in an hour, ye?”
“On the top?” Jimmy asked, following Scott back to the food.
“Ye, I know you can get on top of buildings, so I’ll meet you there. See you there Cow boy.” Scott winked.
With that Scott was gone and Jimmy had more questions than answers. But he wasn’t going to worry about that yet, he was going to finish getting changed then head over.
—
An hour later Jimmy was pacing on the top of he and Scott’s favourite Cafe, the one they had their first date in, back when they were both still in University and
Luckily enough Jimmy knew one of the staff, well owner now. The kid had found him half dead one night when he was closing up the shop, stepped on him on his way out and luckily stopped to help him. Something about his father once being a hero and Jimmy being lucky he taught him First-aid.
So Tommy was used to Jimmy just wandering in through the back door to order coffee from time to time. Giving a large tip for the drinks was his way of saying ‘Thank you for not letting me die in your alley way’.
That gave him an idea, he should introduce them at some point, properly, not just as civilians. But that was a future Jimmy problem. Right now, Scott was ten minutes late and his Latte was going cold.
He continued to pace, till he heard the same fake cough from earlier. He spun around expecting to see his Boyfriend. However, standing there was one of the most well known Heroes in Hermiton, Chromia.
“Uhhh.” He wasn’t sure what to say. Was this Scott or was he busted?
“Is that Latte for me?” The Hero asked. “Please tell me Tommy made it and not his Sister in Law. Sally’s nice but some times I swear she has no taste buds.”
“Uhh, ye, ye. It was Tommy, I sneak in through the back if I’m in my suit.” Jimmy answered, handing the drink over. “I- I gotta say, I wasn’t expecting you to be… well, you.”
“Is that a bad thing?” Scott asked, he almost looked sad.
“No, of course not Sco- Chromia.” Jimmy corrected. “I guess I just wasn’t expecting my Fiancé to be the Hero I had a massive crush on and who inspired me to be a Vigilante in the first place.”
“Oh, I wasn’t expecting that. You had a crush on me?” Scott asked.
“Well ye, how could I not. Look at you.” Jimmy said, face going red.
“Well, if it helps, I always thought you were cute as well.” Scott replied, moving closer to Jimmy. He placed his hand on his face, the way he had that morning. “Too bad I was already taken.”
“Well, I could take you back to mine later if you want. My Fiancé doesn’t need to know.” Jimmy winked, his face bright red. He knows Scott enjoys roleplay, but Jimmy usually wasn’t very good at it.
“Oh my, that is bold of you cow boy.” Scott smiled, he leaned in closer. “Maybe I might just arrest you later.”
Jimmy made a noise that Scott rarely got to hear, but he knew he’d gotten under his skin.
“Well, I need to get off to work now. So remember what I said about tea later.”
“You know, we could umm.” Jimmy scratched his head. “We could patrol together?”
Scott blinked.
“You know what, no. Silly idea.”
“No, I like it. I have to go North if that’s okay with you?” Scott smiled.
“That’s perfect.”
“We’ve patrolled before, why should now be any different?”
“Stop flirting on my roof!” Was suddenly shouted from the back exit. Tommy had caught them.
“Sorry Tommy.” They both shouted in unison.
Jimmy laughed.
Scott smiled.
Everything felt right between the two, like this was how it was meant to be.
