Summary:

T'Pring notices a tribble in Nyota's quarters

Notes:

Day 2: Tribbles

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Uhura awoke alone, the occupant who had laid beside her during the night seemingly vanishing as she blindly reached out in search of her. Upon meeting emptiness, she opened her eyes, finding the space empty. She frowned, it wasn’t like T’Pring to not still be here. She sat up, the covers pooling around her waist as she looked around her quarters.

There, in the seating area, she found her target. T’Pring was crouched in front of the table, balancing on the balls of her feet, still clad in her sleeping wear that Uhura was sure she removed prior to them falling asleep, staring at the medium sized cage that rested there.

“Ashaya?” she asked, reaching for her shirt that was somehow still on the edge of the bed from where it had been thrown haphazardly in their attempts to remove the others clothing.

“You have a tribble.” She said turning to face her, her tone even. She looked back, cocking her head to the side, her space black hair falling in loose curls over her shoulder.

“I do.” Nyota answered as she climbed out of bed, bare feet padding across the now heated floors of her quarters and coming to rest next to her girlfriend.

“For what purpose?” T’Pring inquired as she stood up, eyes still locked on the brown tribble that laid cooing in its home.

“For company, really.” she answered honestly, wrapping her arms around T’Pring’s midsection and bringing her closer. T’Pring tore her eyes away from the small creature as she leaned down instead to press her lips against the humans.

When they parted, she continued, “Have you missed my company so greatly that you have requisitioned a pet to occupy your free time with?” She asked.

Nyota laughed at that, the sound bubbly and full of warmth as she kissed T’Pring again.

“No,” She said when she pulled away, “It’s a long story, but no. I didn’t replace you with a tribble, mpenzi.”

“I am gratified to hear that.”

“But what I did miss,” Nyota began, finding T’Pring’s hand with her own and slowly walking backwards, pulling the Vulcan with her, “was your presence in my bed this morning.”

A ghost of a smile presented itself upon T’Pring’s lips that made her heart flutter just a little bit.

The tribble was momentarily forgotten, as the two sunk back into the bed, the mattress bending beneath their weight as they fell into each other in a rendition of their activities the night before.
