sun, blossom, moon

Summary:

Still she smiled the brightest only when he was around.

Work Text:

Beneath the sun she bloomed beautifully. It was the only time he ever thankful for its grace; traces of her countless pasts, those days in the Rift, no longer any of those stained her smile. Her songs and stories grew along with many travels and places she had visited, and the people she had met and listened and adored her for it, the strum of her shamishen

She should be happy now, still she smiled the brightest only when he was around.

Beneath the blossom they walked together. She had sneaked away when her companions no longer paid too much attention to who they enjoyed themselves with in the merrymaking. Sunlight winked through the cherry blossoms, casting flower-shadows on the path they walked on. The giddy hissing of his serpents, the swishing tail of her flying fish, her laughter, the sound of their steps on the blossom-stained path.

The color of his beloved blossom on her cheeks as she stood on her tiptoe, the softest kiss on his lips.

Beneath the moonlight they finally, finally, became one. Pale fingers carefully swept those pink hair away from her forehead, thumb lightly traced the bridge of her nose, kisses on her tears-stained eyelashes. The moon of the 15th night streamed its light through the open window, the wind brought the warm scent of a spring ending. Her fingers digging on his shoulder as she braced herself, five crescent moons on each side, a sting he could bear but not his heart.

“Should we stop for now?”

Her eyes snapped open. Trembling lips shaped a silent no, her hands went to the back of his neck, not letting go. Thin fingers caressed his hair as she brought him closer, close enough for her to pull herself up and kissed the corner of his lips.

She was warmer than the sun, soft as the blossom petals, beautiful under the moonlight.

The night went on.
