He follows behind his maker, unable to deny him the request. He doesn’t want to. He wants to do everything Godric asks of him. He craves it. He always has. Bending to the older vampire’s will has never been an issue for Eric. Not since he asked him if he could be a companion of death. Eric never hesitated. Never once in all their time together. Every moment they spent together. Every night, every kill, every death, every laugh and moment of joy. Every hardship and fight. Every touch and whispered words. Every lingering kiss and promise of more. Everything they are to each other. So much more than any word Eric could use to describe them.
He’s never hesitated. And yet, he knows where Godric’s heart now lies. He knows what his maker’s plan is and he fears he can’t convince the vampire to stay. And he can’t bear to lose him. He doesn’t know himself without Godric. “Godric… you… you can’t.” He argues when his maker stops, his back to him. Godric doesn’t react but Eric knows he’s been heard. He narrows his eyes and steps closer, glaring down at the back of his head. “Godric!”
Godric sighs deeply, heaving out a needless breath. “Let me go.” He says, repeating his words once again.
Eric clenches his jaw. “I can’t.” He says softly, his voice barely a whisper.
Godric spins and reaches towards him. He touches Eric’s chin and slowly slides his fingers across the taller vampire’s cheek. Eric hums and leans into the touch as Godric continues. A smile laces the older vampire’s face as he takes another step, moving closer into Eric’s space. He wraps his fingers around the back of Eric’s neck and tugs on him. “I have loved you more than you will ever understand.” He says, standing on his toes. “More than anyone has loved another.”
Eric smirks, hope flaring inside him for a moment. “Not more than I’ve loved you.”
Godric chuckles softly as he pulls Eric down until their lips touch. The kiss starts slow and soft. But it quickly turns to desperation as Godric yanks on him harder. He licks and bites and dominates Eric in the way he knows the younger vampire enjoys. He kisses him and tries to put all his feelings into it, tries to show Eric exactly what the man means to him. He wants Eric to feel everything he has for him. He wants Eric to know how much he truly loves him and he wishes they could have more together. Eric kisses him back and Godric feels hands around his waist. He pulls away and pushes Eric. He clears his throat and shakes his head as he steps back. “I apologize for giving in to temptation.”
Eric raises an eyebrow, his smirk spreading more across his face. “Never apologize to me. You can always take whatever you want from me.”
Godric hums and nods. “I would enjoy giving in more… but I feel it is cruel.” He says and sees the way Eric’s expression falls. He holds up his hands and shakes his head. “I did not mean to give you hope. This will be my last sunrise, Eric. This will be my end.”
Eric shakes his head, his eyes wide. “No! Godric, no!”
Godric steps back and shakes his head. “Go, Eric.”
Red tears fall from Eric’s eyes and he tries to take a step closer. But Godric shakes his head and Eric finds he can’t move. He shakes his head as the red tracks stain his pale skin. “Please don’t leave me…” He says, his voice low.
“I’ll always be with you.”
