1) "The Rest of Our Life" - Time McGraw & Faith Hill"
(Rating: G | Genre: General | Wordcount: 111)
He sat near the bridge just outside Hogwarts. The sun was up. The first day of a peaceful world without Voldemort. Harry tilted his head back, feeling the warmth of the sun on his face. He took a deep breath. A light breeze on his face as he smelled the scent of the forest. A welcome change from smoke and blood. He felt someone sidle up next to him.
“So,” the familiar voice said. Harry smiled softly. “Now that everything’s settled. How many kids do you reckon we’ll have?”
“So sure, are you?” Harry turned to see the second eldest Weasley son. They’d talked about this at Bill’s wedding.
Charlie grinned.
2) "A Thousand Years" - Christina Perri feat. Steve Kazee
(Rating: G | Genre: Romance | Wordcount: 141)
The vows had been beautiful. The couple had written them themselves. They were poetic, romantic, with just the right amount of humour. Everyone was so happy. Mrs. Weasley cried happy tears.
Harry made eye contact with the object of his affections from where he sat in the crowd. Charlie looked so handsome standing up next to the groom. He was sure the man’s Best Man speech would be appropriately humorous yet tasteful. Fleur wouldn’t stand for anything more. Though she was happy to allow the twins to set off fireworks later.
Later. The happy couple was dancing. Harry stood off to the side, watching. A hand slipped into his. He smiled. Just a little. He looked up to see the Best Mat grinning at him. Before leaning in and pressing lips to his briefly and pulling him towards the dance floor.
3) "Can't Help Falling in Love" - Kina Grannis
(Rating: G | Genre: General | Wordcount: 108)
Harry sat, staring into the fire as he sat at the Weasley family kitchen table. It was late. Nearly the middle of the night. He knew if he’d let Ron and Hermione know, they’d be down here with him. He hadn’t wanted to disturb them. Even on his birthday.
His first since the war ended. He would be eighteen in just a few minutes. A stair creaked and he turned from the fire to see one of the elder Weasley boys standing there. His face heated up when he realized which one.
“Hello Charlie,” he greeted.
“Harry,” Charlie greeted. “Happy birthday.” The clock in the living room chimed.
4) "The Hanging Tree" - Peter Hollens
(Rating: G | Genre: Romance | Wordcount: 98)
He ran. Roots tripping him, branches pulling at his clothing. He had to get away. He had to hurry. He was expected. He was waiting. His love. The one his village didn’t understand. The one his parents warned him about.
The Dragon Tamer. The one that talked to the Great Beasts that lived in the mountains.
His parents forbid him from seeing his love. Said he was false. That he lied. But he knew the truth. He knew Charlie. The one with hair as bright as flame. Brighter than his mother’s.
Charlie loved him. And he was waiting.
5) "Hold Each Other" - A Great Big World
(Rating: G | Genre: General | Wordcount: 88)
Even all these years later, he still felt the effects of his childhood. The others shared wistful memories of childhood. Of better times. Or carefree, at any rate. They all thought back on their formative years, before Hogwarts with fondness.
Harry didn’t relate. How could he? Being stuck with the Dursleys. Locked in a tiny cupboard under the stairs until his school letters arrived. There were days he just couldn’t stand it. Couldn’t forget. He felt bitter.
And then, those arms would wind around him and he’d sigh.
6) "I See the Light" Mandy Moore/Zachary Levi
(Rating: G | Genre: Romance | Wordcount: 110)
He’d spent most of his life a freak. First as the freak under the stairs that had magic. Then as the freak Omega that couldn’t follow that couldn’t follow orders correctly. Couldn’t bow in just the right submissive way. He talked back. He challenged. No Alpha would ever want a bad Omega like him. Not to mention, he was scrawny with knobbly knees and glasses. He knew they were right. They were all right. He’d never have what others had. What he so desperately wanted.
And then… He was there. An Alpha who looked at him and not through him. Charlie smiled widely as their inner wolves howled.
His mate.
7) "I Be U Be" - High Valley
(Rating: G | Genre: Romance | Wordcount: 128)
His heart thumped in his chest as he was led, blindfolded, to the ring of other Omegas. It was his first time participating in the Mate Run. It wasn’t really a run. More like a dance.
Omegas were in the center. Alphas circled around to the beat of the music. Harry twirled with the others before they twirled away from each other into the circling Alphas.
They’d all catch the scents of their preferred Alphas and, using instinct alone, follow the scent until they found their Alpha. If their Alpha accepted them, they’d join in the dance.
He followed the scent that had driven him crazy since he’d first caught it. A thrill shot through him as he was enveloped in muscular arms, that scent surrounding him completely.
8) "Evermore" - Dan Stevens
(Rating: G | Genre: General | Wordcount: 108)
They all said he and Ginny were meant to be. That it was fate. They all pointed out how much they were like his parents. He wasn’t sure what he thought about that. Especially since he had no idea what his parents were really like. He’d never met them, after all. And only had biased stories he’d been told.
He didn’t know if they’d want that relationship for him. What they would expect of him. What they’d hoped and dreamed for him.
But he did know what, or who he dreamed of. And it was someone stronger than him, someone who could support him. Someone like Charlie Weasley.
9) "So Close" - Jon McLaughlin
(Rating: G | Genre: Romance | Wordcount: 112)
Harry watched as the needle dropped, and the record player began to play the beginnings of a slow song. He blushed at the look in the older man’s face. The one reserved only for him.
He melded into Charlie as he was pulled in close, swaying to the melody. It was different from the few times he’d danced at the Yule Ball back in fourth year. So much more intimate. And so much less awkward.
He liked how Charlie made him feel. No awkwardness at all. He felt like everything would always be fine, as long as he was in the man’s arms. He hoped to always be able to stay there.
10) "Far Longer Than Forever" - from The Swan Princess
(Rating: G | Genre: Romance | Wordcount: 86)
He huffed. Of course this would happen to him. He was Harry Potter. Of course, weird things would happen to him. But on the list of weird, this might just take the cake.
Hermione had called it the Swan Princess Curse. And just how was he going to cure this curse, you may ask?
True love’s kiss.
The problem: his true love didn’t love him back. He’d be stuck like this forever.
“Don’t look so down, Harry,” Charlie’s voice said. His head snapped up in shock.
