Chapter 1: first kiss, first heist

Chapter Text

it was a normal day for gunwook— well, as 'normal' as things could get when your job involved sneaking around in shady suits, pretending to be 'friends' with people you'd rather lock up. he was an undercover agent. technically his work looked dirty from the outside, but the whole point was cleaning up the mess behind the scenes.

being an undercover agent means having lots of skills, and he was personally picked out from the many people hence how he got the job. and today's mission? too easy. he was supposed to steal an important drive, evidence from a criminal case. why the idiot still kept it instead of burning it? he didn't know. maybe a sick kink, maybe ego. either way, it ended up in gunwook's hands without much of a fight.

so you could say his day was going perfectly according to plan. though that would soon change..

earlier in the morning, before gunwook got to work, matthew had been messing around with the radio communications, maybe too much messing around.

gunwook was perfectly executing the plan until static came in his earpiece. he just assumed he was out of range with matthew but that was far from true. matthew was only two rooms away from gunwook, the static was him accidentally messing up.

you see— matthew who was distracting the security in the area was fidgeting with the frequency, it was his way to get gunwook to give his current status. well, matthew accidentally forgot to turn off the speaker mode and only connected it to his in-ear. he turned up gunwook's volume and gunwook's feedback came loud.. maybe a little too loud as matthew heard it from his ear that had no in-ear piece.

judging by the reaction of the now suspecting security man, he most definitely heard gunwook's feedback.

and the last thing gunwook heard from matthew was, 'oh hey, i gotta go.. gunwook run, i messed up—' and then static.

he mentally face palmed himself at that sentence but didn't waste any time and moved swiftly, leaving the secret lair.

outside of the building, he didn't see matthew nor the security anywhere. matthew was probably running for his life, as for security they're probably searching for him. gunwook cleared his throat and fixed some of his appearance before walking back to their meet spot.

'don't look, they're right behind you.' he heard matthew's voice mixed with static from his in-ear.

gunwook kept calm and kept his awareness up. he picked up his pace, turning corners to lose them but it didn't do anything, they kept following gunwook like a toxic ex.

'sheesh. they must be desperate for you.' matthew snickered.

gunwook shook his head at the ridiculous comment. he took a moment and thought about it, if he doesn't get out of the situation now, he might have to make them stop following. gunwook never liked that other choice but it seems like this time he might have to— actually, nevermind.

he spotted a blonde haired man on his phone right as he turned into a sketchy alleyway. jogging up to him in urgency, gunwook dragged the man with him to another quiet alleyway while also taking off his disguise.

the stranger didn't say much other than, 'what are you doing?' and 'who are you?'

gunwook swiftly pinned him against the side of an alleyway, shushing the stranger to hear the footsteps of the people following him. as soon as it sounded close, gunwook leaned in closer.

"i'm sorry," he announced before leaning in, closing the gap between him and the man. his eyes fluttered close and his hand wrapped around the man's waist. the other hand went to slide under the man's jaw, angling his face just right to gain better access.

gunwook could tell the stranger was shocked by the sudden kiss but he also felt the man relax after gunwook started moving his lips. his fingers trailed the curves of the man's waist and hips, pulling him closer to sell the act.

what he did next though, caught gunwook off guard. the stranger's hands travelled up to gunwook's hair, tousling it around and gripping his shirt, pulling them deeper into the kiss, like he couldn't get enough of him. it drove gunwook crazy that he almost broke character.

the sound of lips smacking echoed through the quiet alleyway. the kiss quickly intensified, way more heated and desperate than before. both devouring each other like they've been waiting for this moment their whole life. soon, footsteps sounded from behind, moving farther down the alleyway.

gunwook paused, peeling one eye open to peek. the two security that was chasing after him earlier weren't there anymore.

that.. worked.

he pulled away, almost tripping on his own feet. gunwook looked around, making sure the two dudes were gone, and they actually were out of there.

just as he was about to apologize and thank the stranger for making it believable, fingers dug into his collar and he was pulled in close. next thing he knew, he was pinned against the wall by the stranger.

anger flickered in his expression, along with mischief? without a word, gunwook was pulled in for another kiss. only this time it was way rougher.

their teeth were now clashing. it was messy, it was hot. fingers skimmed across gunwook's stomach and big biceps, softly squeezing them. gunwook returned the same energy, his hands moving to the stranger's lower back, squeezing his ass gently.

a whimper slipped out of the stranger's plump lips but was then swallowed by gunwook. the man arched into the touch, his body all up against gunwook now. it was supposed to be an accident, he was supposed to pull away from gunwook but instead he grinded against gunwook. gunwook threw his head back, a groan escaping his lips.

'wait, why do i hear groans and kissing sounds? gunwook, what are you doing?!?' matthew's voice burst in loud through his in-ear, jerking gunwook back to his senses.

with a low groan, his eyes flickered open. gunwook pushed himself off the stranger, who was still grinding against him. he cleared his throat, eyeing the now messy-blonde haired man.

"um, thanks for uh.. helping out. i uh, gotta go." gunwook stepped back, stumbling a little with his steps. "oh and sorry." he last said before he took off running.

he sprinted out the alleyway, scanning his surroundings to figure out the way back. eventually, he found a crowd and ran past it, just in case the security guards were still after him.

'gunwook, where are you?' matthew's voice grew annoyed, but was still laced with concern.

"i'm here." gunwook said with an exhale.

in the corner of matthew's eyes, he spotted gunwook jogging up towards the car, looking wrecked. when he reached the car, matthew frowned.

"dang bro, did you get beaten up or something? you're bleeding on your lips." matthew hissed, pointing at the injury, oblivious to what have just happened.

there was a pause before gunwook answered. "uh.. it's um, complicated." he sat in the passenger seat, clearing his throat and adjusting his clothing.

"okay.. so what happened? did you manage to escape them?" matthew asked, slipping on his sunglasses before turning on their communication radio back to the headquarters.

scratching his head, gunwook nodded. "uh yeah.."

matthew raised an eyebrow. "how? they were really fast." he said, emphasizing the 'really.'

"like i said, it's complicated." gunwook reached for a bottle of cold water on the backseat.

"hmm.." matthew taps his finger on the steering wheel. "did you make out with the security guards?"

gunwook immediately spat out his drink upon hearing his question, coughing as he almost choked on literal water. "WHAT?"

"oh my god, is that why i heard kissing noises??" he gasped, eyes widened.

"what, no?!? you're insane for even thinking that." gunwook wiped his mouth with his sleeve.

"what? who knows if that was your backup plan." matthew shrugged, turning the car key to start the car. "i personally would've made out with them, they're hot as fuck."

"nuh uh." gunwook shook his head, amused but not surprised at his friend's comment.

through the windshield, the city buildings were bathed in amber. as they drove out the area, the sunset sank behind the tall skyscrapers, slipping from sight as if mocking gunwook's calm. gunwook exhaled through his nose, hand reaching into his pocket to store the drive in a safer spot.

he frowned. his fingers kept searching, but nothing. all he found was his phone and small accessories for his disguise. gunwook started to panic, shifting in his seat to check his back pocket, but still nothing. oh no.

he searched the coat that was part of his disguise outfit, nothing in the pockets. inside the car compartments, nothing. back of the car, nothing. maybe inside his shirt somewhere? also nothing. fuck.

matthew who noticed the panicked movements of gunwook asked, "what's wrong? what are you searching for?" the car stopped at a red light and matthew turned his attention to gunwook.

"the drive.. i can't find it." he continued to dig around the car, hoping maybe he just forgot he threw it somewhere in the car.

"what?? what do you mean you can't find it?" matthew joined in, checking his own spot.

"i can't find it! it's not with me, matthew." gunwook looked up, his expression panicked but also frustrated.

"you took it with you, right?" matthew asked, looking gunwook in the eye.

"yes!" he answered, frustrated. he turned to the window of the car and— there was a blonde haired man. holding up something and waving it at gunwook. he looks oddly familiar.. wait. he's the man from earlier! holding up a... drive?!?

gunwook's eyes widened. "oh nah, he really—" he got out the car, sprinting to the man who had a smirk carved on his face.

gunwook ran without looking to his sides, literally almost causing a crash. it didn't matter how fast he was running, by the time he reached the sidewalk, the man had long disappeared into a crowd.

gunwook groaned, falling to his knees in frustration. with the sun going down, searching for the man would be borderline impossible. people come out more at night, police everywhere, one commotion and gunwook would be exposed.

"what's going on, wook?" matthew yelled over the loud cars, closing his door shut after parking beside the sidewalk.

"that guy. he has the drive!"

"what guy?" matthew tilted his head, still confused on whatever that was happening.

"the guy that i kissed earlier, he took my drive. i don't know how or when, but he has it." gunwook sighed as he got up from the ground.

"you kissed a guy???" matthew gasped, the puzzle piecing together in his head as he spoke. "oh, now it makes sense why i heard lips smacking sounds."

"that's not important!" gunwook looked back at matthew, both hands on his waist. "he has the drive, he stole it from me."

matthew's lips curled into a smirk. "the kiss was so good, that you didn't even realize he stole something important from you." he said, wiggling his eyebrows at gunwook.

"SEOK MATTHEW!"

---

gunwook sat in his chair, his hair dripping wet. strong winds blew past his window, sending the curtains flying. the sky rumbled, flashing white into his dimly lit apartment. he dried his hair with the small towel, eyes fixed on his computer. he typed out some words, taking sips of water from his mug from time to time.

he was chatting with the rest of the agents he worked with, they were discussing the next best plan to expose the criminal from gunwook's last failed mission. since they were unsuccessful of finding the man that stole the evidence, they were forced to figure out a new plan to expose the criminal.

gunwook took another sip from his mug, then beside him, his phone lit up with a message notification. he glanced at the message, it was from an unknown number. gunwook opted to ignore it but the unknown number kept sending messages so he just gave up on pretending not to see it.

gunwook leaned back on his chair, unlocking his phone calmly, unaware of the madness he was gonna find out from those text messages.

unknown :

the sky rumbled.

this time loud and sudden, right after he finished reading the message.
