Chapter 1: Quincy's Trail Mix

Chapter Text

As Quincy hunts, he and Topper also forage and gather. Quincy had a specific mix he liked to curate, however, with the rise of Eiden visiting the Wood Territory, Quincy also grew a habit of making extra for Eiden to bring back to Aster’s mansion.

*Crunch, crunch…*

Soft chewing and crunching is heard, alongside the gentle scratching of quill on parchment. Eiden is mindlessly picking at a precious fabric pouch, slightly loosened by its drawstring, as he works on reviewing documents Aster had passed down to him. It was the least he could in an attempt to lessen Morvay’s workload…

*Crunch, crunch…*

A beautifully curated bundle of nuts, dried fruits, and even some small sweets wonderfully melded together. Despite the sometimes stark contrast in texture, Eiden appreciated the thoughtful yet somehow simplistic snack his clan member had gifted him. His mind wandering far away from his current assignment, Eiden can almost envision the sight of Quincy as he and Topper worked to gather this sweet and salty treat. The weather in the Wood Territory isn’t particularly volatile, typically met with a gentle sunlight, calm breezes, and of course, the thriving life in every corner.

*Crunch, crunch…*

Quincy, diligently checking his traps for any catches, carrying bags of game to be hung and dried, a slight sheen to his skin as the daily chores cost his sweat. His tight shirt, clinging and warping to adhere to every flex of his muscles, strong and sturdy. His voice, low and slightly raspy, calling out in a softly assertive tone.

*Crunch, crunch…Snap*

Eiden, jolted out of his soon to be indecent daydream, realizes he broke the nib of his quill.

“Shit..!”

He hurriedly stands up, causing his chair to nearly tip over in the force. Quickly grabbing a ragged cloth from a nearby shelf, Eiden sloppily attempts to clean the ink that had spilt from the quill. The parchment was unfortunately unsalvageable, as Eiden mentally kicks himself over such a stupid mistake, he turns his head towards the nearly finished pouch of trail mix, he can feel his cheeks grow warm. A plan began to brew in the young man’s mind, and he felt a slight smirk spread across his lips.

“... Maybe I should go for a visit..”
