Virtualisis AU

Summary:

In another universe... Golden Cheese, Pure Vanilla, Hollyberry, White Lily, and Dark Cacao all have their souljams broken and shattered. The beasts, however, do not receive them. They all escaped into Golden Cheese's Virtual kingdom. But so did the Beasts, and so followed the Elemental Guardians.

That was three years ago. And without any protectors, the world has fallen into disrepair. GingerBrave, Strawberry Cookie, and Wizard Cookie hide in a safe haven for cookies in the Faerie Kingdom, where similarly, the Beasts' minions find respite in their search for their Masters. The Hollyberrian and Vanillian Kingdoms have been destroyed. Nothing is much the same. And yet those fifteen cookies still live in that Virtual haven, escaping from a danger that has been inside their Haven all along.

Welcome to Virtualisis.

Chapter 1: Prologue - The Heroes of an Unvirtuous Cycle

Chapter Text

Three cookies sat in chairs around a fire, one enwrapped in a coat, ensuring the obscurement of most of their face, another coated in scars well-earned in battle, and a third in a tattered and faded wizard’s hat. The air of the scene was cold. Unwelcoming. But, in a reality so wavering and deceitful, what really is unkind? The scarred one eyed the quickly-growing crowd of fellow cookies encircling the space directly infant of where the three sat. One girl whom the other two had seen many a time perched on the arm of the hooded cookie’s chair, making her face light up in surprise and welcoming delight. Gingerbrave began to speak aloud to the crowd of people, children and adults alike still trickling in from games of tag or a hard day on the farm.

“…In our world, the Ancient Heroes were all but an illusion. They treated the threat almost 3 lunar cycles ago with the utmost disregard for Earthbread in entirety’s safety. Now, we must adventure to reintroduce them with the current world. And the New Earthbread Council has decided of us three to adventure into the Golden City. Thank you for coming here.”

A flood of questions bombarded the three, requiring Wildberry to settle them down. One hand raised quietly,  almost testing the waters.

“Yes?” Gingerbrave asked, the question pointed to the remaining hand.

A small cookie, maybe of only six or seven lunar cycles stood up. “Can we come with you, Mister Gingerbrave?” She asked almost pleadingly.

Gingerbrave sighed in a mix of exasperation and enjoyment. “Candy Apple, please stop disguising yourself as others. No, you will not be going. The council decided what the council decided.” Pavlova Cookie and his friends sighed in dissapointment.

“Oh, Pavlova Cookie, would you like to go on an adventure where you could possibly die?” Wizard Cookie almost snapped. The cupid shrunk down. “I didn’t think so.”

Gingerbrave shot his companion a glance that could make flowers wilt, before sighing. “We will be staying another half a night in the Haven. At precisely sun-up, we shall leave for the Golden Kingdom.”

The crowd dispersed, including Pavlova Cookie and his newfound lackeys, giggling mischeviously. A young girl approached Strawberry Cookie. “Here, Miss Strawberry! I drew this for you.” The girl smiled a gap-toothed and lopsided grin. She held up a picture of the three journeying off into the sunrise, with the children looking at them from the background, a cheering crowd. "Have fun on your journey!" The rather mysterious girl hopped away.

And so, later in the night, after much preperation, the three set off into the awaiting dawn, hoping to find something in the broken Virtual city.
