Work Text:
Hearts were delicate as glass, that's what Kaworu had said, back when they'd first met—he'd been right about Shinji. He'd been hanging on by a thread, but despite any odd vibe he'd gotten from Kaworu, hadn't he'd been the one to reach out to him in the end? Hadn't Kaworu's kindness soothed him, made him feel more human than he had in ages?
He'd only wished he could do the same for Kaworu. And he would do it—he wanted to repay that kindness, wanted to earn it, wanted to give it back in turn. To protect Kaworu's heart, just like he'd done for Shinji.
Even if that did mean reaching out and physically forcing Kaworu to delete the email and explaining about fraud schemes and how Nigerian princes really didn't need random Japanese kids to send them ludicrous amounts of money to "aid them in their hour of need".
