ELECTRA

Electra awoke one morning to frantic knocking on her door, followed by a scowling face opening the door.

“The wards have been breached.“ He said his cool blue eyes meeting her staticky green ones.
“Get your section up and to formation in five.” The wing leader walked out, not bothering to shut the door. No one liked June, but no one openly hated him. At Basgiath, you don't get to hate people- you work together, or you die alone. June was tall, which he used to his advantage. He had cool blue eyes and short, neat brown hair,. He had a large rebellion relic, which flowed from the nape of his neck down his shoulder, all the way to his right wrist.

‘You should probably put a uniform shirt on before waking up the wing.’

A familiar voice rang in her head, snapping her out of her daze. Chrome, her dragon, was a large blue sword tale, the second most feared dragon on campus, and her closest friend. She hastily threw on her fighting leathers, strapping her two katanas to her back before running out the door. She knocked on all the doors, and sleepy cadets walked out. Seeing her in her black fight leathers, coupled with her determined face, ran back into their rooms, changing and running to formation.

Electra finally got to formation, where missives were being handed out. June walked over to her.

“They're sending everyone.” He told her. Everyone? that never happens- something’s up.

“Including first years?” She asked.

June nodded grimly in response. “Where are we being sent?”

‘This sounds like a death sentence,’ chrome growled.

“Tyrendore.” June answered.

Electra‘s face fell. Tyrendor… eight battalions have fallen while fighting there. A recent battle brief reported after twenty casualties- not counting dragons- including Mikhail. Chrome was right. This was a death sentence.
After a painfully short formation, where they proceeded to tell everyone as little as they possibly could, they sent the cadets to the flight field. Electra ran up to Chrome jumping and sitting on her back waiting for June's signal to take off. She watched as some of the others in the wing got on their dragons: Sophro a tall brunette with a rebellion relic on her forearm and hetrochromic Green and gold eyes jumped onto her green daggertail named Dove, Atho with his reddish brown mohawk and brown eyes climbed aboard his orange scorpion tale named Cris and Goat (whose name isn't actually goat but they've been called that since first year so no one questioned it,) they had dark red hair styled into horns and blue eyes they have a brown sword tail named Charles which they jumped in an almost cartoon like way onto it. There was also the transfer from third wing Whose name she couldn't quite remember but she had grey hair and pink eyes she had a red scorpion tail Named Clyde. Once the first and third year's got on their dragons June gave the signal and they started the day long flight to Tyrendore.

Once they landed in Tyrendore something felt…off Electra knew it June knew it they all knew it. Well except the first year's who were goofing around still. “Shut it!” June snapped at them while he tried to find any sign of danger. There was nothing no sound for

June sighed and relaxed, signalling for them to set up camp. They started setting up and chatting, taking a chance to relax from the fighting. Goat walked up to Electra.
“Somethings up.” Electra sighed, turning to them.
“I know it's too quiet , it's…unnerving, we should be getting The hell out of here not setting up camp. We have 19 first year's and we're stuck outside of the wards.” The nod in agreement.
“I have no doubt we were sent here on purpose but there also isn't anything we can do we're only here for 3 days anyway. What's the worst that could happen?” Goat said jokingly before noticing how Electra's face fell.
“Mickey died here, remember?” Goat remembering gave her a sympathetic smile.
“They sent him here to die, they knew He'd die and they sent him anyway. He was twenty two! And they sent him on a death mission!” She continued every word having more anger in it.
“I know-” is all Goat could say before June walked over.
“Cadets please cease the chatter and finish Tent set up unless you want to be on pack up duty after this mission.” Goat laughed smiled and said
“okay chilly” before skipping away. June scowled.
“Unprofessional” Electra laughed for only a moment before chrome cut in with one word ”DUCK!” She didn't have time to question it. She just hit the floor and suddenly in a flash of white light something came through, picking up the pink second year. It didn't look like a dragon; it had no back or front legs, only claws attached to its wings. Everyone stood there frozen and unmoving. Electra could feel the lightning coursing through her veins, her blue signet burning on her back. She was about to aim at the dragon until across the chasm she noticed someone standing there. She didn't know why but she aimed all her lightning straight at them. They screamed and the dragon like creature dissolved the pink second year began falling to the ground.

JUNE

He only had seconds to act a moments delay and she'd be dead. He quickly and seamlessly used his shadows to slow her fall just enough for her dragon Clyde to swoop in and grab her. the second the new Cadet Dev was on solid ground all hell broke lose. Cadets screaming and running around. ”immature cadets” crimsons voice echoed in Junes mind. ”mm none of them are fit to take over for me, they all need more training” June sighed back before whistling. The sound cut through the screaming and for a moment everything was still. “Now are we cadets?” June asked not needing to yell to be heard over the crowd. “Or are we civilians? Because I know you have all seen battle worse then this and if you haven't you better get used to it because this will not be the worst you see I have seen close friends and allies get gutted so all of you better man up before you get killed.” He continued. “Now pack up all of you, we're heading home.” He finished everyone starting to pack up in silence not wanting to talk.

Electra approached him “Jun- Cadet Aiónóis orders say three days we've been here maybe an hour.” She spoke cautiously knowing his anger.
“I don't care what the orders say Cadet heart Cadet moss almost died we are going back now okay? Those are my orders.”
'Be nice June, you don't want to scare her,' Crimson chimed in.
“If she's going to replace me one day I won't be the scariest person she talks to” June retorted.
'still go easy on her' June rolled his metaphorical eyes.
Electra had walked away when the wing leader started looking grumpy. "look you scared her off” Crimson laughed. "why on earth do you like her so much Crimson?” June sighed taking down his tent and packing it into his rucksack.
'she has potential June, she's a good fighter.' Crimson reasoned.
”you're not wrong but she's still soft she could be better” June threw on his rucksack and signaled to the cadets it was Time to go. Everyone got on their dragons and took off climbing into the sky And above the clouds back to basgiath.

“WHAT IN DUNNES NAME WERE YOU THINKING CADET AIÓNÓIS.” the general screamed from across his desk at june who didn't Flinch for a moment. “FIRST MONTH OF THE JOB AND YOU'RE ABANDONING YOUR POST? WE COULD HAVE GOTTEN INVADED. WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY FOR YOURSELF?” june took a breath before speaking clearly. “Cadet moss was injured by an unknown party and I believe until we can determine who attacked her we stay away from tyrendore and place more experienced fighters at the posts outside of the wards.” The general looked enraged but he only pointed for june to leave and he did as such.

Outside of the generals office june sighed walking away looking tired like he hadn't slept in weeks. He hadn't slept, waking up from Nightmares of losing one of his cadets every night. To put it lightly he looked like shit. He slumped back to his room at the top of all the dorm buildings, undoing the wards to unlock the door before falling onto his bed exhausted. It wasn't the magic use that had drained him, it was the adrenalin of saving Cadet moss. The General will only be mad for so long and at least there were no casualties today unlike last month. They sent the third Year's including himself there were thirty of them not counting dragons and only ten cadets made it back and barely june himself had a broken arm which still stung every now and again, but at least then they knew who they were against today he had no idea who Electra killed or what that creature was he had so many questions and no answers.

GOAT

“AGAIN” shouted Electra from the side of the training room as goat was knocked down again by Atho. They slowly Stood up struggling for breath “five” they struggled for breath. “Minutes” Electra sighed. “Fine, Sophro you're in,” Sophro nodded and twirled her staff around herself before running towards Atho Raising her staff and lowering it toward Atho's throat before He could even notice the staff connected and he flew backwards coughing up blood. He paused for only a moment before getting up with his sword and hitting Sophro square in the sidewise his sword. Sophro winced but steadied herself. A clash of staff and sword followed before Atho fell unconscious on the ground. “excellent work Sophro, get him to the medics while I talk to goat,” Sophro nodded and threw Atho over her shoulder carrying him out.

Electra kneeled next to the goat. “What's going on, goat? Your normally the best on the mat”
Goat sighed, not making eye contact. “Did you not sleep? was it what happened last night?” Goat didn't respond. “Is it Mikhail?” Goat nodded slightly and Electra sat for a moment before nodding. “We all miss him goat, Sophro hasn't spoken a word Atho has been…a tad violent, I'm barely eating but it will get better the best way to work through this is to keep with our routines we were all told people will die and we all hoped it wouldn't be one of us but it was and now we have to work through this.” goat barely gave any sign of response. “do you not think if I could bring him back I would? He was one of our best and instead we have our stupid wing leader.” Goat chuckled at that. “I mean he's so stuck up” Electra continued. “I'm June I'm so big and strong look at my rebellion relic it makes me so cool.” she said in a mocking June impression. Goat started laughing more and more. “Sorry Electra I just miss him a lot, it's weird not sparring against him.” Electra sighed in agreement. “I know goat I know.”

Late that night Goat was going for a walk around the campus, smoking just a little but of churam to take the edge off the events of late.
They walk round a corner and hear voices, people talking.
“Sixth sighting this month. We should be investigating.” An unfamiliar said. “No not yet.” Another deeper Yet still familiar Voice declared, could it be…no it can't be. But it sounds like the General. “We've lost half of our 3rd year! We are running out of soldiers” The first Voice said. “We can't investigate yet, that's final.” the general declared. “we can't keep lo- do you smell churam?” Goat stealthily and quickly drops their churam and jumps out of sight onto a nearby roof.

Goat ended up climbing Into Electra's room, they were pacing when Electra slowly woke up. “goat why are you here? It's 3 am, why do you smell like churam?” "Electra I'm sorry I was out for a smoke and I overheard something and I thought you'd want to know.” They spoke quickly clearly worried. “It's okay” she sat up and signaled for Goat to join her. “What was it.” They took a breath before summing up the events of the night. “So they aren't investigating Mikhail's death?” She sad sounding sad. “ no they aren't investigating Anything not mikhails death not how dev almost died” Electra sighed. “That's bullshit! We are losing people left and right, we are running out of soldiers.” Goat sighed in agreement. “Look I'm not saying it's bias but, almost everyone we've lost had a rebellion relic but..” they added. “It is interesting but it can't be the only reason they aren't investigating right?”
