Meet our main characters! This list will expand as the series goes on, but here's a starting point!
Naya Patel, 18, freshman, is the protagonist of the story. She is the youngest of five siblings, two older brothers and two older sisters. Her parents both passed away shortly after she was born leaving her to be raised by them. At the age of ten she and her brother, Preet, and his wife, Vahni, moved to the United States for opportunities not provided back in India. Naya's confidence is a mask that sits in front of her anxiety and perfectionism. She's not afraid to stand up for herself of those that she cares for, but as soon as the threat is gone, she will fall into a panic. She loves to sing and act and has goals of joining RBU's Acapella Group, Corrective Measures, and be apart of some shows and in the choirs. Used to getting everything she wants, she has a tendency to get angry and bratty when people don't bend backwards for her, especially her brother Preet. Overall Naya is a relatively normal 18 year old who's learning just as much about herself as she is the world around her.
Shereen Ghannam, 22, senior, is Naya's AP. Shereen presents herself as a person who is unshakable, but in reality she is focused on defending herself constantly from the silent judgement around her. For most people she is the first Hijabi woman who is designated, and very much so a top, that they have ever met. This gets more complicated as she's also a lesbian and the thought that she should be more oppressed than she is. She knows she was raised in a loving, accepting family, and that most don't see that side of her religion. She and her girlfriend, Lydia, have been best friends since elementary school, and then dating for three years at this point. Shereen is a powerhouse who doesn't let anybody stop her from achieving her goals. She is the event coordinator and social media manager of RBU's Acapella Group, Corrective Measures.
