Chapter Text
Rin never really celebrated his birthday. He often forgot about it when it rolled around, no one bothering to remind him or celebrate since Sae left.
So when Rin stepped into the cafeteria in the early morning, he was confused to find Hiori already waiting for him, a cupcake with a candle already lit in front of him. And then Hiori was looking up at Rin with his stupidly pretty smile and adorably owlish eyes.
“Happy birthday, Rin-kun,” he murmured, nudging the cupcake towards Rin. “I got permission from Ego to use the monitor room to watch The Shinin’ tonight.” Oh. Rin saw the corner of Hiori’s eyes crinkle in amusement, and he realized he started blushing. Rin scoffed, turning away from Hiori.
“Whatever…” Hiori nudged the cupcake towards him again, and Rin… Well, he supposed he could indulge the sheep just this once. He leaned closer to blow out the candle before Hiori stopped him.
“You gotta make a wish, Rin-kun!” Hiori insisted. Rin rolled his eyes; he didn’t even need to think about his wish, it was always the same. He blew out his candle, ignoring the warm feeling that twisted through him. Being soft wasn’t like him.
