Work Text:

  The alarm sounded. Another emergency.

Blades had already been patrolling in the sky with Dani, and so the duo were responsible to find the victim. The snow had gotten slightly heavier, but Blades decided to push on, trusting that his partner could control his movements.

Heatwave, Chase and Boulder set out from the firehouse.

"Found her!" Blades announcement in comms. He pointed his rescue light towards the victim. "Unconscious, be careful!"

(Y/N) burst out of the thick forest, en route to the emergency. In a private comm with Heatwave, she mocked: "Pfft, I hope to Primus that it's not Hayley or Kade's gonna get too excited."

"You're implying that if you were the victim and I had to be the rescuer, I'm supposed to feel the same way?" Heatwave snorted.

"Hey, whatever shenanigans you're up to in the private comms, remember Cody can hear them!" Kade yelled, having absolutely no clue who Heatwave was talking to.

"Ah, Kade, even though I technically can, I choose to mute private comms," Cody added.

"Crowding the comms is not recommended, please leave the 'chitchat' to later," Chase chimed in.

"Signs of an avalanche is showing up!" Blades gasped. "I can't do an airlift rescue! There's too many trees!"

  "Heroine to the rescue!"

With the last pump of her engine, (Y/N) sped up a ramp and flew, comedically (and successfully) launched herself into the air. She landed perfectly near the rescue site and rushed to the victim, placing him gently on her servo.

"Blades, I got the guy, meet me at the clearing, southwest."

"How about you meet us at the bottom of the hill? Can you make it?" Dani asked.

"I can, I just need to traverse in my vehicle mode," (Y/N) replied. "See you guys down there!"

After handing the man over to the paramedics, (Y/N) went to meet with Heatwave.

"Any issues?" Heatwave raised an optic ridge, his optics shining beneath the visor.

  "Nothing, love you," (Y/N) smiled.

"Very random, I love you too."

"Not lecturing me over being reckless?" (Y/N) grinned mockingly.

"You took the risk and executed everything fast. An avalanche was about to fall," Heatwave commented. "Besides, you're experienced."

"Woahhh, calling me old? Not to flaunt, and you kinda asked for it, I just did so well to get first class and skipped some grades ahead of you guys, that's all," (Y/N) taunted, sticking her glossa out.

"I'll show you experience in berth-"

"Language, Heatwave," Chase warned, placing a servo on Heatwave's shoulder. He had a stern look that made Heatwave groan in defeat.

(Y/N) chuckled. "Anyway, I'm gonna head out for a little drive. Will be back."

She drove further and further away from the bustling little town. Her windows were tinted, so no one could see she had no driver.

The sun slowly climbed its way down, mixing the blue sky with light pink, then bright yellow, then red, eventually darkness ensued. Cybertron had no scenery that could match the uniqueness of Earth's sky. It was because of Earth that (Y/N) took up photography.

The forest itself had a large variety of scenes. The waterfall, for example, where different amounts of droplets form different shapes. It's a challenge to capture something good, but it felt rewarding when (Y/N) caught something worthwhile. It was thanks to Boulder that she managed to train her patience.

The beautiful and colourful fishes in the pond of today was the result of (Y/N)'s hard work. She would often check on the fish, made sure the water was safe and clean, and removed any invasive species laying around. Despite that she had a place in the bunker to stay at, she rather spend her nights at the forest. Sometimes, Heatwave and Boulder would come check on her and the forest respectively.

(Y/N) piled up a bunch of dead leaves together, then laid inside it in her bot mode. It was therapeutic to clean up the forest and take care of it, especially after a day of stressful rescue missions. She looked up at the stars, wondering when would Cybertron would finally be habitable again. As much as she loved Earth, she missed her home.

That night was peaceful, until a loud cracking was heard.

(Y/N) woke up the next day, feeling dazed. Her vision was so blur, the sun seemed to have split off and turned extra brighter. She could hear someone calling her.

"She's stable," Blades announced. "There's not much I can do, her body must fight through this on her own."

  "Thanks, Blades," Heatwave murmured.

  "Heats...?"

Heatwave placed a servo on his love. "How do you feel?"

  "Heavy... what happened?..."

"A tree fell on you. Someone deliberately cut it and made it fall," Heatwave explained.

  "What?..."

"It was your favourite tree. The oldest one in the bunch, and the largest one too."

  Oh.

"Your face survived the whole ordeal with a few cuts," Blades reported, "but the branches were quite sharp that they went through you..."

"Blades wasn't able to handle the scene and nearly passed out. I had to scoop you up and make it back to the firehouse quietly," Boulder explained. "I'm just glad you're okay."

(Y/N) nodded, slowly recollecting last night's sudden pain and fainting. She winced at the memory, then looked at herself. Bandages were there as expected, plus a gigantic pede cast wrapped around her right pede.

Chase rushed into the bunker, letting Chief Burns out before transforming. "Dr. Morocco was behind this," Chase declared. "Further investigations have been launched to locate the suspect."

"He's not giving up on trying to make use of us, huh," Heatwave growled.

Chief, still scribbling on his notepad, spoke: "Witnesses said they found a strange large purple tank leaving the forest after the loud cracking. My suspicion is that he wanted to immobilise (Y/N) then take her away."

"Bitchass," Heatwave muttered under his breath.

"I'm... okay... most of me anyway," (Y/N) chuckled, attempting to light up the mood.

"Rest, love, don't strain yourself," Heatwave placed his servo on her tank. She slowly moved her servo to his and gently caressed his servo. He felt very warm to the touch.

"We will continue investigations. Until then, please take care and recuperate, (Y/N)," Chase said.

She only waved back in response. It was starting to hurt to talk.

At night, Heatwave returned from a long day of emergencies. The other three bots were upstairs spending quality time with Cody and Frankie.

The subtle rhythmic beeping was all that echoed in the bunker. Heatwave made his way towards his love, quietly. The sharpness of (Y/N)'s hearing made her wake up anyway to see Heatwave sneaking around cables (stupidly) trying hard not to trip.

His amber optics laid on her. Full of worry. (Y/N) motioned for him to come over at his usual normal pace. He took a chair and sat beside his sweetspark. No words were exchanged, but a full on conversation was carried out just with body language and optics alone.

He pointed at her. How are you?

  She nodded. Good.

He looked around the room. What have you been doing?

She shrugged, careful not to hurt her shoulders. The usual.

He pointed at the bookshelf. Reading?

  She nodded. Yes.

He took her servo and squeezed it thrice. I love you.

She squeezed back once. I love you too.

The two spent the night together, and for once, Heatwave finally became interested in the forest, hoping to understand his lover's needs better and her general character.
