Work Text:

It was an early afternoon when the peace and quiet of the pair on the couch got disturbed.

Jakob had become quite fond of these moments at home, where he could sit on the couch and do absolutely nothing. Especially if it included his partners. Or well, at least one of them. With a soft gaze he looked down on Kevin, whose head rested on Jakob’s lap, eyes closed.

He looked a little too pretty with his eyelashes being captured by the sunlight and lips curled into a very faint smile. If it was up to him, Jakob would stare at him all day… although he did do that a lot now that they had some time off. He simply couldn’t help it. In the kitchen, when Kevin would prepare some dinner, when Jakob was about to wake him up for breakfast or when he saw him engaged in a book or playing around on his guitar.

If the day had continued like that, he sure wouldn’t have complained about it, but fate had something else in mind. Something being his beloved partner, who couldn’t keep his feet still.

Jakob heard the door close in the background and soon enough Axel was standing in their living room, putting his hands on his hips as he watched the pair. “You haven’t moved a centimeter since i left”, he commented with an amused smile and walked over to them.

Jakob looked down on both him and Kevin, who slowly opened his eyes again. “Hmm, perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.”

Axel raised his eyebrows at him and sat down beside them, tugging one leg under the other. “It would be, if you didn’t do the same thing yesterday and the day before.”

“How could you say that”, Jakob said with a small gasp, trying to hold in his laugh as Axel gave him a judging glance. “There could never be enough afternoon naps.”

Kevin hummed. “Agreed.”

“You two will grow roots here if you don’t go outside once in a while”, their partner argued, clearly set on his mission to have them move.

“Good idea, tomorrow we can take a nap on the porch in the back yard.” Jakob couldn’t help but tease, especially when it got that frustrated groan out of Axel. He looked too cute trying to figure out a way to get to them.

“I think Axel is just a little jealous because he wants to join us”, Kevin mumbled, sending a smirk up to him.

Axel let out a huff and then leaned slightly forward, thigh pressing against Jakob’s as his hand brushed a few strands off of Kevin’s forehead. “I want you to join me. As in going outside and doing something together.”

He cupped Kevin’s face which he only leaned in further, making Jakob’s heart melt at how adorable it looked. Maybe Axel was right, the taller was way too powerful in this state. The sleepy voice paired with the teasing tone was about to make Jakob get off the couch but for very different reasons.

“What are you suggesting then?”, he turned to Axel, whose eyes lit up at Jakob’s offer. He wasn’t sure if this was any better, Axel’s smile making his knees go weak even after all these years.

“We could go biking?”

A low grumble from Kevin declined that one immediately.

“What's wrong with biking?”, Axel frowned, clearly offended by the quick rejection. “You love biking.”

“Another day maybe, but let's do something less… exhausting”, Kevin only said, clearly not that indulged in moving at all. Jakob watched their exchange with an amused smile, the stark contrast between the two forces a little too endearing to interrupt.

Axel sighed. “Alright. How about a walk through the forest with the dogs. We could get some snacks and eat by the lake?”

This caught both of their interest. Jakob met Axel's satisfied expression and chuckled, knowing he hit the jackpot.

“We still have some leftovers from yesterday, we could take them with us”, Kevin suggested now.

“Maybe we can still take a little dip, if it's not too cold yet”, Jakob wondered, earning a laugh from both his partners.

“I doubt the cold would stop you”, Kevin teased and then sat up, hair sticking up and eyes still slightly sleepy.

“A cold plunge never hurt anyone.”

Kevin raised his eyebrows at him with a smirk tugging on his lips. “I'm pretty sure I could pull up some newspapers right now proving you wrong.” Then he leaned forward, voice dropping slightly. “But I guess we can always warm you up afterwards.”

With two last kisses the taller stood up and left the living room, leaving his partners sat in silence. Heat had crept up Jakob's neck and given the slightly surprised face by Axel, neither of them expected the flirty tone.

“What did you do before I came?”, Axel asked, something between teasing and curiosity laying in his voice.

“Nothing”, Jakob said immediately, not sure if he should just drag Kevin back here and throw their plans away. “He is doing that all on his own.”

As if that wasn’t enough Axel leaned in and pressed soft kisses along his jaw. “If it makes you turn red like this he can gladly continue.”

Nope, this was too much. None of them would get to the lake when he let himself get distracted by these two menaces. “Okay, okay, I will get the dogs ready. No need for dirty tricks”, he said and stood up from the couch, not made to resist either of them.

Jakob heard the other snicker and decided that he would have to take revenge for that later.

It was a nice autumn day, the afternoon sun found its way through the branches of the forest. Alfons and Greta ran through the leaves that had already fallen to the ground while the three of them enjoyed the fresh air in silence.

That was until he found Axel to no longer walk next to him. Confused, he stopped and turned around, not able to keep in the laugh when he saw him standing a bit further behind with his phone. Jakob pulled a face when he saw Axel take a picture of them and then looked over to Kevin who only rolled his eyes affectionately.

“We got to take the phone away from him some time”, Jakob joked, joining Kevin's side as they watched Axel.

“I fear he would just pull out an old camera from ten years ago”, Kevin commented with an amused smile.

Jakob snickered and watched Axel take a picture of Alfons and Greta, who currently seemed to be in a competition of who can get dirty the most and fastest by rolling on the ground.

For all their teasing neither of them minded. Especially, when the scene in front of him looked so adorable he almost forgot that they would have to give the dogs a bath when coming home.

By the time they reached the lake, his stomach started to rumble and they quickly settled down to eat. They found a place on a bench close to the water, making sure the dogs got their treats after powering themselves out before turning to their snacks and leftovers that Kevin packed.

After they were done, the sun was hanging just above the edge of the horizon, reflecting beautifully on the lake's surface - peacefully still. That's when Jakob decided to set his plan in motion. He took some packages that had no more snacks in them and walked over to their bags to put them away. Then he got out of his shoes and pulled his jacket and shirt off.

“Jakob… what are you doing?”, Kevin asked, suddenly turning to him as he stripped off his clothes.

He only gave him a grin.

“Jakob, you don't actually-”

It was too late for either of the other two to stop him. He stormed in the direction of the water, laughing and dipping right in. His heart skipped a beat as his head disappeared underneath the surface, cold washing over him and adrenaline kicking through his body.

With a bright grin he came to his feet a few meters into the lake, turning around to look at Kevin and Axel. It was in fact pretty cold already, the chill immediately settling in his bones. But he still couldn’t stop laughing at their shocked faces.

“You look like you have seen a ghost”, he shouted, going through his wet hair with his hand. Kevin had taken Greta on his lap who had jumped around him in excitement, it only made Jakob laugh more.

“Only seeing a thirty year old man who thinks he won't catch a cold, get out of there”, Axel called out, but there was a laugh trying to break out. The image of him with his hands on his hips reminded Jakob a bit too much of a disappointed parent. But then again, Axel had that pose down since they were kids.

But Jakob didn’t plan on staying much anyways, there was something else he had in mind. He dipped one last time before making his way back to the others, the air around him indeed freezing now.

He could see Kevin rolling his eyes and headed straight for him, pretending like he was reaching for something in his bag. Instead Jakob wrapped his arms around him and pulled him closer from behind, not able to keep the laugh inside at Kevin’s shriek.

“Jakob, what on earth-”, he called out, trying to get out of his grasp but it was impossible. He was trapped between Jakob and holding Greta on his legs. “You are freezing, oh my god.”

Jakob only hummed and placed kisses from the top of his head down to his neck. “Didn't you say you would warm me up?”, he asked innocently.

“Oh my god”, Kevin dead-panned and leaned his head back in defeat. “Axel, are you just going to stand there and watch?”

Their partner tried very hard not to burst out laughing, watching them with that soft gaze that could warm Jakob up from the inside. “I mean you did say that. But…” He walked over to them, grabbing one of the blankets they didn't use. “You will catch a cold like this.”

Axel wrapped the blanket around his shoulders, sharing a long kiss with him. Jakob could have stayed like that if it wasn't for the autumn air creeping up to him.

“So, are you just gonna stand here and get us both soaked?", Kevin asked after a moment, tilting his head to him with raised eyebrows. There was a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

Jakob hummed, leaning into his warmth even further. “You don't like it?”

“I would like it more, if we don't have to nurse you for the next few days.”

“We?”, Axel said and looked at Kevin. “This is your doing.”

Jakob gave him a pout. “So you wouldn’t nurse me back to health if I was bedridden?”

“I'm making sure it doesn't come that far” Axel gave him one last kiss on the cheek, that had Jakob melt at the touch. “Let's head back and get you actually warmed up.”

With a chuckle, Jakob let go of Kevin who handed him his clothes. They were quick to pack everything up and head back before it got dark. While he was getting quite cold, the look on Kevin's face had definitely been worth it, Jakob decided and took both of his partner's hands as they walked home.

“You are going to take a hot shower now”, Kevin said as soon as they entered the house and got out of their jackets.

Jakob turned to him with an amused smile and looked up to him. “You will join me then?”

He raised his eyebrows. “And reward you for your cold hug earlier?”

“I just took you up to your offer”, he said innocently.

“Maybe after you have had the shower.” Kevin gave a kiss and then headed over to the kitchen.

He met Axel's amused look and groaned. “You are enjoying this way too much.”

Axel walked over to him and wrapped his arms around his waist. “He knows exactly what he is doing. And unfortunately he is really good at it.”

“Will you join me?”, he asked instead, putting on his best pout he could muster before breaking into a smile because he couldn’t even take himself seriously.

Axel leaned forward, eyes wandering down to his lips. “You are playing with foul tricks.”

Jakob closed the gap between them, meeting his lips in a few kisses. “Does this mean yes?”

“No”, he hummed with a teasing smile. “But I will make sure, everything is finished up by the time you are done.”

He rolled his eyes affectionately before kissing Axel once again because no words would ever be enough to tell him how much Jakob loved him. “You have never heard of the concept of rest in your life.”

“And nothing could ever stop you from doing something irresponsible when you set your mind to it.” Axel placed one more kiss on his nose, which always had him scrunch up his face.

“Alright, alright. I will go now”, Jakob gave in, heading towards the bathroom. They decided to watch a movie later so he wanted to make sure to have everything done by then.

By the time he was done and had taken care of the dogs, he found the living room empty apart from Nisse, who circled around his leg before lying down on the couch. Well, at least someone was ready.

He followed the quiet voices from somewhere else in the house and found Kevin preparing some snacks and Axel standing beside him.

Jakob watched the pair fondly, their silhouettes more familiar than his own. When he was younger, when their future was uncertain, he wondered if he would ever get tired of it, if he could ever get tired of it. But he never did and the golden band around his finger proved he never would.

He let his eyes wander over Kevin's concentrated face while he was cutting the vegetables, down to Axel's hand resting on the taller man’s hip as he took one of the cucumber pieces.

“So, was it worth it to get up from your cozy spot?”

Kevin looked at Axel with a soft smile. “You know it was. You just want me to admit it.”

“Maybe”, Axel mused, the glint in his eyes giving away his motives. If you asked Jakob he could watch them going back and forth all day, natural chemistry bouncing between them easily.

“I really liked it.” Kevin leaned down for a few kisses that Axel didn’t protest to in the slightest. “Now, you two choose a movie while I finish this up.”

Kevin met Jakob's gaze, taking him by surprise that he noticed him standing behind them.

“Let's leave the chef to his work”, Axel snickered as he was walking over to Jakob.

“I heard that”, Kevin called out. Jakob saw him shake his head with a smile before Axel pulled him into the hallway.

He never could get tired of them, that was for sure.

Once everything was done, they settled down on the couch, all huddled together with Jakob in the middle, Axel's head on his shoulders and Kevin's arm draped over both their shoulders. They had chosen an old blockbuster to watch and fell quiet with occasional laughs from each of them.

Nisse had found her place on Axel's lap, her head quietly resting on his stomach. Jakob had to grin at the matching pair. His partner had fallen asleep after the first hour, knocked out from the events of the day.

He nudged Kevin, who still had his eyes firmly on the tv. “Seems like the power of the couch got to him after all”, he snickered quietly, nodding to Axel.

A fond smile appeared on Kevin's lips, before he pressed himself just a little closer against Jakob (if that was possible). “Hm, can confirm you are much more effective to fall asleep on.”

He pressed a kiss against Jakob cheek, which he quickly captured with his lips, a warm feeling spreading inside his chest. He heard a soft hum from Kevin and felt a hand cradling his neck, blockbuster turning into background noise.

When they parted, Jakob couldn’t help the teasing smile. “You are kissing like you waited the whole day for this.”

Kevin chuckled quietly. “Maybe I was.”

If it weren't for the more than comfortable position Jakob was in, he would have pulled him on his lap and continued. Instead he opted for a few more kisses before Kevin settled down on his shoulder as well, arms wrapped around his torso and legs tugged in. It looked a little too adorable with his long limbs.

His eyes wandered back to Axel who had only settled further into the crook of his neck, glasses going askew. Carefully, Jakob took them off, twisting his wrist in a strange angle so as to not wake the other up.

With one last kiss on Axel's forehead he turned his attention back to the movie, not as aware of the plot anymore. He found himself not caring much about it, revelling in the warmth of his partners.
