Work Text:
Everything was going great until they started their mission. Not only was the curse graded wrong, but the fights went on for ages. By the time Yuuji had fought and killed the curse, he only just noticed that his boyfriend, Megumi, was not with him currently.
Out of breath, the boy walked around and looked for him. He wasn’t sure how he got so distracted to the point he fully forgot about Megumi for a few minutes. He was right with him, so where did he go?
Yuuji heard a voice in the distance, a muffled shout. He ran as quickly as he could toward the sound, struggling to catch his breath. His eyes widened as he saw Megumi, fighting an unexpected curse. There weren't supposed to be two.
So, Yuuji helped him.
——————-
However many minutes later, everything went silent. Yuuji had defeated yet another curse. Megumi helped too, but Yuuji took the last few hits.
A painful sigh escaped Megumi’s mouth as he slowly sank to the floor, resting his head against the brick wall behind him. Yuuji turned around, watching him like a hawk.
“Hey,” He walked over, crouching down next to the boy. “You okay?”
“Fine,” Megumi answered, blinking slowly. “Just, give me a minute, please.”
“Sure, yeah, no problem.”
Yuuji sat down next to the black haired boy, pulling out his phone. He quickly sent Ijichi a text saying that they were done and finished for the day. He truly believed him when Megumi said he was fine, it wouldn’t be nice to not trust him. Although, when Yuuji took another glance at him, all he could see was pain.
“Are you sure?” He asked.
Megumi turned to face him. “About what?”
“You look really pale,” Yuuji sighed, lifting his hands up to cup Megumi’s head.
“You always say that.”
“I mean it, you don’t look great.” His eyes widened slightly, and corrected himself. “Not like that, you always look great! You just look… ill?”
Megumi let out a steady breath, and leaned to rest his head on Yuuji’s shoulder. “I… got hit pretty good. It’s not too bad, I probably won’t need to see Ieiri.”
That caught Yuuji’s attention, he moved quickly to sit in front of Megumi. His eyes flicked over every part of his body, wondering what happened and where.
“Show me, please.”
Megumi removed his hands that held and covered his stomach and lifted up his uniform jacket. The pink haired boy let out a gasp and stared at the deep wound.
“I think I'm gonna pass out,” His sleepy eyes met Yuuji’s and then he was gone, out cold.
“Hey! Don’t do that! Oh man, why’d you do this to me?”
Yuuji decided there and then that he would take Megumi to Ijichi himself. So, he gently picked the boy up, one arm holding his legs and the other supporting his back. Bridle style, if you were fancy. Megumi unconsciously snuggled his face closer into Yuuji’s chest, and Yuuji found that adorable. Megumi would never have done that if he were awake.
Once they walked out the building, he was hit with the fresh smell of wet grass and rain. So earthy. He walked over to the car that was parked just around the corner and opened the door. He carefully placed Megumi in the middle seat, securing the seatbelt and then sitting next to him.
They drove back to Jujutsu high.
——————-
When Megumi woke up the first thing he saw was Yuuji sitting on the floor next to his bed, head bowed down. He was fast asleep. Yuuji had taken Megumi to Ieiri when they’d gotten back, and she helped quite a bit but Megumi still felt a little bit sore. His back hurt like hell and his stomach? Fucking awful. The pain was horrible.
Megumi rolled over onto his side, regretting it immediately after as he grunted in pain. The sound woke Yuuji up, he jolted awake.
He stared at Megumi with tired eyes. “Gumi! How are you feeling?”
“Like shit.”
“I’m sorry, where does it hurt? Your tummy still?” He smiled apologetically, reaching to hold Megumi’s hand.
Megumi nodded and closed his eyes, letting out a pathetic sigh. “Any more missions today?”
“You’re not allowed to until you’re better, Gojo’s words not mine!” He replied, putting his hands up in defence. “Although, I do agree with him.”
“Whatever,” Megumi shuffled around on the bed, moving to the side near the wall. “Can you…?”
Yuuji got the hint and stood up from the floor, getting in bed, and laying down next to his very sleepy boyfriend. He faced Megumi and smiled, lifting his hand to move a strand of hair out of the boy's eyes.
“You’re so cute.”
“Shut up,” Megumi didn’t mean that, clearly, his face turned as red as Yuuji’s hoodie. He snuggled closer to the pink haired boy, resting his head against his chest and wrapping an arm around his waist.
“Goodnight, love you Gumi.” Yuuji said, pressing a kiss to his forehead.
“Love you too, thank you.”
Yuuji knew Megumi was tired, but he didn’t expect to hear soft snores immediately after. He pulled the boy even closer than before and closed his own eyes, letting sleep take over his body.
