turn your face towards the sun (let the shadows fall behind you)

Summary:

Newly hired teacher Park Jimin hopes to find a new beginning in Cypher Dream High School in Gwangju. Yet, Jimin finds himself soaked with flour and his clothes reek of spoiled milk.

Enter Jung Hoseok and his gang, BTS. Hoseok is the most feared but looked upon delinquent in his school. Who never thought he will find himself wanting his new teacher?

Title has no absolute connection to the story. BTW.

Notes:

Another one-shot! Forgive me for I am only an amateur in writing :'(

Once again, title has NOTHING to do with the story. No underlying meanings there, if you're thinking about that now :3

(Warning: This has curse words, and things a student in high school shouldn't do.)

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

"You know Chim, you won't be able to calm down if you keep on staring on your phone, looking at your schedule you know?"

It's normal for new teachers to get nervous and jittery like this, but Park Jimin's nervous goes way far. Taehyung sighs and snatches Jimin's phone away from him, giving the other a look. "I don't know how you calm yourself by looking at your class schedule, but it's almost time. Get your shit ready or you'll get laughed at."

Park Jimin is your newly hired English teacher. His major is English, and no one can say that he's not a legitimate English teacher because he studied that frickin course for years and he did an OJT in USA. Well, his first day in America really isn't great, because he got laughed at for not pronouncing 'hello' without the letter 'l' sounding like an 'r'. Of course, he improved dramatically after he spent five years in America, teaching in secondary schools.

Now he's jittery, like he's hyperventilating but really. He's just excited to meet and teach Korean secondary students because he spent his first years in teaching in America. Needless to say, he wants to share his knowledge in English to his fellow people.

So Jimin gathers his books and glances at the tall stick sitting in a corner. Taehyung, his co-teacher, told him that they would always bring sticks to class, but he doesn't tell Jimin why. Maybe there's bugs in their classroom? Jimin thinks and smiles. He's afraid of cockroaches and spiders, but he'll do his best to keep them away. No distractions while he's teaching!

As Jimin stepped out of the faculty, Taehyung wishes Jimin a good luck because he'll be needing it.

Jimin didn't understand why Taehyung was praying for him, muttering some chants under his breathe while holding a rosary. Though Jimin didn't take Taehyung as a holy person, he shrugs it off and smiles because he's finally in front of his advisory class.

Class 3-F.

Jimin doesn't know any rumors about this class and this school, so he opens the door and doesn't expect flour and spoiled milk pour on him from a bucket on top.

What the fuck!?

Laughs erupt from the classroom, and Jimin looks around and sees a student with a rope, grinning at him like a Cheshire cat. Jimin knows he's the one who did it, yet he doesn't find himself screaming at the top of his lungs and stomping his foot. He closes his eyes and wills the shame in his body to go away, because he wants to teach and introduce himself before he goes to the men's restroom, sobbing and crying.

"I'll be right back, class. Just-- don't do this ever again."

The loud laughs aren't heard anymore, and whispers start to spread like crazy. The students in class 3-F looked confused for once, and the student who held the bucket and poured the flour and spoiled milk on their new teacher flushes, because none of their previous teachers reacted like this. Some would just go to him and send him to the principal's, and most would scream and yell at the class. Not that anyone's not used to it. Actually, they're used to getting screams and stomps and sobs from their previous teachers, but not this teacher.

Jimin closes the door silently, and goes to the faculty to change into his extra clothes he brought him with. Now he know's why Taehyung told him to bring extra clothes on the first day.

Gently opening the door, Taehyung sees Jimin covered in flour and spoiled milk so he rushes to his best friend and gives him an extra towel he brought. "Augh, Jung should really stop doing this."

Jimin's previous bubbly characters disappears like the wind as he comes inside the faculty, getting his conditioner and extra clothes. He accepts Taehyung's towel and heads out, to the shower room. To remove this stench and flour all over him.

Jimin doesn't register a student following him in the shadows of the school as he walks through the hallway, eyes not having the same fire as before. He didn't know why he suddenly became so down, but Jimin tells himself that he's here to teach. Pranks and tricks like these won't bring him down.

So Jimin runs to the shower room, smiling like he didn't have a shower of spoiled milk and flour on him. Maybe this was a way that his students used to tell him he's welcome? Either way, Jimin smiles and eagerly showers, looking forward to introducing himself to his new class.

Hoseok never would thought their new teacher would just react like that.

It's weird, because they do this to their new teachers all the time to test them if they can withstand the tricks and pranks up in Hoseok's sleeves and his other classmate's pranks. He had not expected this.

They would usually get screams and yells and shouts or maybe curses when their previous teachers experience this. Never had a teacher tell his class to behave while he walks out, going to the shower to clean themselves up.

This was like an initiation of sorts.

Jung Hoseok is Cypher Dream High School's feared delinquent for his nasty tricks and pranks. He's also feared because he was once a gangster, now a delinquent in high school. Being a gangster really isn't nice, so Hoseok went from being a gangster to a delinquent. Drugs and killing people isn't his forte.

So now he's stalking  following their new teacher in the shower room, just up until the locker room.

While their new teacher is showering in the shower room, Hoseok waits on the bench by the locker room. The sound of the shower running and the soft hums from his new teacher were only heard, as Hoseok stared at the lockers for a long time, to him.

But remembering that their new teacher will come back anyways, Hoseok exits the locker room and goes back to their class, where his classmates ask him what happened and if their new teacher resigned yet. He breaks the news to them, saying that it's unlikely, and a chorus of 'aw's are heard throughout the class.

Hoseok smirks, because he'll have fun with their new adviser.

A single step inside his new advisory's room makes Jimin's hear flutter wildly in his chest, because who knows when another bucket of flour and spoiled milk will be above him, ready to splash him with it. But Jimin remembers that it's his job to teach this kids English, and he will do it. Screw his heart, it's his calling. He will teach this kids, even if they keep pranking him.

He opens the door ever so quiet, and steps inside, letting out a deep sigh. He's been in this situation a lot of times, and he's used to them.

"Hello class, I am your new adviser, Mr. Park. I will be teaching English for this year, and maybe the next years--"

"Hey teach, can't we skip class?" A loud voice booms from the right of the room, and Jimin raises an eyebrow at the speaker.

"Don't you know it's rude to interrupt someone while introducing themselves--"

"Yada yada, boring introductions. Having fun outside, smoking and dancing in the bar is better. Don't you think, guys?" hums of agreement are heard, and Jimin sets

his lips into a thin line. He's going to have a hard time with this delinquents.

The speaker stands up and walks toward Jimin. As he walks, Jimin's heart drops, because this student is drop-dead handsome, his brown hair styled to accentuate his strong features. He isn't wearing the prescribed uniform, and instead wears a black shirt topped with a brown leather jacket and black pants. His eyes are fierce; his whole body screams strong, fierce, powerful-- Alpha. Jimin takes a stuttering step back.

"You know, teach I am starting to like your angel attitude," the student takes a daring step forward, invading Jimin's bubble, and stares at him, dead on the eye. Their new adviser gulps, audible only to the student. "But sadly, if you're that adamant on teaching us like the good teacher you are, you should have a long line of patience. We're called Class 3-F with a good reason," the student smirks and takes the stick in his teacher's grasp and throws it away, the stick landing on the tiled floor.

Now Jimin gets it. All teachers bring sticks to their class because of students like this.

"Good luck on teaching us, angel. I'm Hoseok, by the way," Hoseok smirks and waves his new adviser a bye and exits his classroom, shutting the door behind him loudly.

Jimin lets out a sigh of relief. He turns his eyes to the students left inside the room, and lets a death glare (something he didn't know he could do). "Who's next to go outside, you sons of bitches?"

If you want them to obey you, you have to play fire with fire.

"I seriously can't believe you just took a 360 degree turn with your attitude, Chim! What made you do that?" Taehyung tells Jimin during lunch period for the faculty while chomping on his favorite hamburger from McDonalds. Jimin lets a shrug and takes a dainty bite out of his salad. Taehyung would always shoot Jimin a look whenever he brought salad for lunch, but Jimin counters that one day, saying that it's healthier than eating burgers thrice a week. Taehyung shuts up after that.

"Play fire with fire, Taehyung. If I want them to learn, they better respect me and look at me like a damn teacher, not some stuck-up angel teacher."

Taehyung makes a noise of agreeing while chewing, and swallows the last of his burger. "Hm, never thought you're a stuck-up angel teacher, Chim. I've always took you as a demon teacher, from what I heard in America."

Jimin lets out a soft laugh. "Did Seokjin tell you? I told him to keep quiet but I guess he couldn't keep his mouth shut." Taehyung nods and drinks his Coke.

"Even though you are a demon teacher, I doubt you'll use that facade here. You're innocent here, Jimin. You haven't experienced everything this school has to offer," Taehyung says. Jimin shrugs.

"I'll keep that stuck-up angel teacher facade for a while."

True to his word, Jimin keeps that face on, being a stuck-up angel teacher he is.

"--It's delicious, come on say it together class!"

The whole class groans and follows Jimin, who has a smile on his face. This class has been improving on their pronunciation skills, and a little bit on their grammar. It's been a while since Jimin has felt satisfaction flow into his body for teaching these students proper English, not some slang words they pick up on the street.

So far, the delinquents stay quiet after Jimin's terrifying look one day. They don't cause trouble, excluding Hoseok.

"Hoseok, can you please pronounce this word please?" Jimin calls out for Hoseok and points on an English word on the board. Hoseok snaps out of his day dream and stands up.

What Jimin pointed out was difficult for Hoseok, and embarrassment creeps up in Hoseok's face. "U-Um, t-the bill please?" the way Hoseok pronounced the word 'bill' sounded like 'beer' and the whole class laughs. The ex-gangster reddens and looks away from Jimin's satisfied look. "You may sit down, Hoseok."

English words with the letter 'L' or 'R' has Hoseok stuttering because of his bad pronunciation skills. Unlike his other classmates, Hoseok doesn't listen to English class not much, and the strong and alpha look he had when they first met Jimin disappeared in class, just an embarrassed delinquent who holds no power over his teacher. He's wrong: Jimin isn't a stuck-up angel teacher. He's a demon teacher, and his classmates are airheads to think their teacher is an angel sent from heaven to teach them English.

Standing up after a few seconds sitting down, Hoseok storms to the door but halts when Jimin calls his name.

"Where do you think you're going, Hoseok? Class isn't over yet, go back to your seat--"

"I'm going out to smoke. Unless you want to come with me to smoke, I suggest you shut your mouth, angel." Hoseok didn't know where he got that confidence in talking back to Jimin, but that was always there. He's a delinquent, a prankster. He's not some good student who will sit on his chair, writing notes in his notebook. Heck, what he does is the opposite of that.

He slams the door behind him and walks upstairs to the roof, where he would always escape to. Only him and Jungkook, a student from class 3-A went here. Nobody dared to, unless they wanted to feel the wrath of the Great J-Hope. He opens the door and sees Jungkook leaning on the railing, holding a stick of cigar between his two fingers and puffing smoke.

Jeon Jungkook, a top-notcher in this fucked up school. Hoseok muses, what would Jungkook's parents think if they'll see their 'innocent' and intelligent son doing this.

"Lunch?" Hoseok walks over to Jungkook, and the younger nods and puffs smoke from his cigarette. "Didn't want to see Tae right now, he's pissed off."

Oh and did Hoseok forget to mention? The Jeon Jungkook is dating the cheerful and grinning teacher, Kim Taehyung. Suprising, ain't it?

"Wonder why," Hoseok chuckles and Jungkook grimaces. "Saw me smoking. Threatened me and said that he'll call the principal. As if that crappy principal of ours would care."

Hoseok lights his stick of cigar and wraps his lips around the orange filter.
