Draco Malfoy was hosting a ball his late mother would have been proud of when the witch stormed in. Dressed in shabby wizards robes and trailing house elves squeaking protests at her intrusion, she immediately demanded attention from the entire room. Her gaze swept across the sea of finely dressed wizards and witches until they landed on Draco. He narrowed his eyes and stepped forward to demand she leave immediately but before he could even open his mouth she exploded.
"What riches! What extravagance! How dare you all welcome him back after everything that was done under the Malfoy name! How dare you, Draco Malfoy, to live as if nothing has happened!" She took a step forward with her wand raised.
"How dare you enter my home-"
WHOOSH. An invisible force radiated from her and everyone was knocked off their feet. The witch spun on her feet to address the entire room.
"I shall tolerate your disregard for your actions no more! The venerable House of Malfoy shall henceforth be lost to time! All those who reside inside these walls shall be forgotten! Left to fade away in the shadows!"
CRACK! Lighting struck outside the ballroom windows. Candles were snuffed out all at once as if by a phantom wind.
The witch turned back to Draco, her hair crackling with power in the darkened room and her face flushed with righteous fury. "The young lord who sought to leave his troubles behind without thought for those he harmed will spend his days as something else." Her eyes darkened. "See yourself for what you truly are and always will be, Draco Malfoy."
CRACK! Screams erupted from partygoers as the next flash of lightning revealed a giant beast with bone white scales and crimson eyes.
"The slow death is the most cruel. Die slowly for the next twenty years, Draco Malfoy." With her wand pointed to the heavens the witch shouted, "MALEDICTO CORDIS!"
An earth shattering clap of thunder shook the manor as lightning struck the house with a blinding white light. The arched ballroom windows exploded inwards, a storm of glass whipping around the ballroom and it's terrified occupants. Draco cowered from the glass as an overpowering ringing sound rose up and droned in his ears, growing ever louder and more painful for every beat of his heart. He finally lost all sense, opened his mouth, took a gasping breath, and-
And then there was pure silence.
No one screamed. No one cried. No one breathed. The ringing was gone. Draco blinked and looked around himself. He spun in an unsteady circle. Then another because he must have been drunk. Or dead. Because no matter how he twisted and turned he was met with the same horrifying reality. There was no one. The guests, his servants, and even the witch, were gone.
He was surrounded by...things. Brooms, brushes, glassware, cookware, beds, buckets, tables, a vanity- Draco roared in shock as he caught sight of his own reflection.
Inside the vanity mirror a bone white dragon roared back.
