"I can close it. Can anybody copy?" Natasha asks "I can shut the portal down!"
"Do it." Steve says.
Tony quickly tells them "No, wait."
"Stark, these things are still coming!" Steve tells him while looking up to the portal where a new wave off aliens just came from.
"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute." Tony answers the captain while flying towards the nuke "And I know just where to put it."
He grabs hold of the nuke and begins to redirect it
"Stark." Steve says "You know that is a one way trip, right?"
Tony ignores him "Save the rest for the turn, J."
"Sir, shall I try miss Potts?" His AI asks.
Tony's eyes look briefly at the picture of Pepper on his HUD and he smiles faintly "Might as well."
Jarvis calls Pepper.
Pepper is sitting in the Stark Industries private plane to Washington DC and watching the news.
"Streets in New York City have become a battle ground. The army is here trying to contain the violence but clearly it is outmatch-"
Her phone vibrates but she doesn't notice, she is to focused on the screen.
"...Billionaire Tony Stark’s Iron Man-..."
She sucks in a breath, already knowing what he is going to do. She starts shaking her head as if it is going to stop him.
Tony flies trough the New York streets, Steve and Thor look up when he flies above them. Then he turns up, with the missile on the suits shoulders.
He flies trough the portal with it, Tony looks at the call failed picture above Pepper's name, he lets go of the nuke and the HUD goes out.
Then he falls back down again, he watches as the nuke hits the mother ship and it explodes.
His eyes close. He passes out.
"Come on, Stark." Natasha whispers, with the scepter in her hands.
Steve stands waiting, but he knows that if they wait until Tony comes back the radioactive blast from the nuke comes trough the portal and it won't be good for the city. "Close it." He then decides.
Natasha sighs and pushes the scepter trough the barrier in the heart of the machine. The portal starts closing.
The portal closes, they see Tony falling down "Son of a gun." Steve says.
They watch Tony fall "He is not slowing down!" Thor starts swinging his hammer, but Hulk beats him to it, he catches Tony midair, lands on the ground and throws the unconscious man of him. The two other guys run over and roll Tony over on his back.
Thor removes the Iron Man face plate and Steve checks for his heartbeat, he then notices the arc reactor is not glowing. Hulk roars, Tony's eyes shoot open and he gasps "What the hell? What just happend?" he looks around "Please tell me nobody kissed me."
"We won." Steve says, while looking up to the destroyed city.
"Alright, yeah. Alright. Good job, guys. Let’s just not come in tomorrow. Let’s just take a day. You ever tried shawarma? There’s a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don’t know what it is, but I wanna try it." Tony says still laying on the ground
But Thor looks up at the tower Loki is in "We're not done yet."
"Shawarma after?" Tony asks hopefully.
Loki turns around slowly and faces the Avengers, Hawkeye has an arrow aimed on Loki's eye, Natasha is holding the scepter and Hulk growls angrily, Loki turns his head a little and says "If it's all the same I would like that drink now?"
