Harry had always been Louis’ best friend ever since they were in kindergarten. They were those typical inseparable duo at school, so when Harry left for another country after middle school without telling anyone, everyone was surprised. Not even Louis knew what happened; he had spent endless nights wondering about what could’ve changed between the two of them, but he never found an answer that made sense, because it didn’t make sense.
Harry never reached out to Louis after that, but neither did Louis, maybe because of his own pride, or maybe because he was hurt Harry had left without telling him, but he decided to erase him from his mind completely; if Harry didn’t want Louis in his life anymore, then neither did Louis.
College was what brought Harry back to Louis’ life, and he was the opposite of happy about it; this meant Louis could no longer ignore his existence, and all the questions he had once asked himself every night since he left would come back to life. Despite everything, he was honestly shocked about how much Harry had changed; he was a completely different person, not in a good way. Everyone at college knew Harry was now what Louis calls a “junkie,” but they’re junkies with money, and that’s the worst type of junkie. It’s not like Louis even cares about that at all, but it’s still surprising for him, given that Louis would’ve never thought Harry would end up like this, ever.
