Chapter Text
Ron scowled. Tonight was a lost cause from the off. Not only was Hermione here with Viktor fucking Krum but he looked like an absolute tit. In all honesty maybe it would have been better if he had just gone naked…
This stupid frilly collar was driving him mad. He yanked on it angrily as he watched Hermione and Krum dance by.

Pansy Parkinson was bored. She was bored of Greg and Vince and their fart jokes. She was bored of Draco constantly bitching and moaning about Potter. She was most definitely bored of Millicent talking about her cat. Honestly, if they weren’t roommates she’d have half a mind to feed the damn thing to the giant squid so she’d never have to hear about it again. She could always blame that oaf game-keeper…
She frowned at the slight chip in her nail polish. Maybe she’d slip off to the loo’s and fix it. There wasn’t much of interest going on tonight. Everything was pretty predictable. Diggory was hot in that puppy dog sort of way and had some pretty Ravenclaw on his arm. Potter was clearly out of his depth and had plodded around the dance floor like he’d never seen one before before giving up. Now Granger showing up with Krum was a bit of a twist- clearly a love potion job and she’d obviously dumped an entire vat of sleazkys on her hair but still…
Her eyes flickered over to them dancing - Krum was duck-footed and she amused herself watching him waddle around the dance floor inelegantly. But then something else caught her eye, someone else was watching them.
Weasley was yanking on the collar of … Merlin those robes had to be almost 18th century! And from the colour and the fit that was - that was a vintage Odessa Wrenhurst!
She was startled - since when did Weasley have fashion sense? She quickly looked around for the other Weasleys - No…no…. And no. All pretty boring and plain if clearly cheap…
So Weasley had obviously gone out of his way to get those robes. Perhaps it was a family heirloom? Still if her great-aunt had a vintage Odessa Wrenhurst going, Pansy would snap it up.
She studied him. In those robes, with his height and that murderous look on his face, he looked rather …formidable.
She fiddled with the neckline of her robes. Wasn’t this supposed to be a Winter Wonderland - why was the room so bloody stuffy and hot all of a sudden?
And the thought came unbidden - those burgundy robes would go so very well with her pink ones swirling on the dance floor - such a sophisticated combination, the tonal contrast would be marvellous.
She scowled at the boring black robes Draco had opted for. He was always showing her up like this.
And it would be so deliciously unpredictable of her. It might liven things up around here…
But what’s this? Daphne Greengrass was manoeuvring her way between tables, her eyes fixed on one Ronald Weasley.

Daphne Greengrass knew a thing or two about fashion and clearly Ron Weasley had won best dressed man tonight. Merlin - vintage Odessa Wrenhurst - what an unexpected coup he’d pulled off!
She didn’t know much about him at all really - hadn’t given him much thought… But in first year he’d clinched that ridiculous win over Slytherin by beating McGonagall at some chess game -how very Slytherin of him. He clearly had brains then. And he’d apparently gone charging down into the Chamber of Secrets to demand the return of his sister from a Basilisk - that was pretty hot. Not to mention, family loyalty means a lot to the old lines…
He may come from poverty and his family may be blood traitors but they are in the Sacred 28 and father has been telling her to stay away from some of the other Slytherin boys. He says it’s only a matter of time before families like the Malfoys and the Notts get caught in flagrante delicto. That they’ve gotten sloppy and careless with the passage of time. Father was always telling her to think ahead…
She considered him - he had a ferocious, sulky look on his pale face - befitting an 18th century Lord of the Manor. And with his height and big hands and feet she felt pretty certain he’d grow into quite the intimidating specimen one day.
There’s no harm in just going over for a little chat now is there?

Pansy was on her feet and making her way over. Daphne’s evident interest had made her mind up. If anyone was going to be the talk of the Ball, it was going to be her.
She pushed past and forcibly grabbed a goblet out of that gormless Longbottoms hands. “Need this!” She yelled at him.
Then she forcefully bumped her hip into Daphnes as they both tried to make their way through the final couple of tables. “Whoops!” She smirked as she poured half the goblet on Daphne’s front. “Oh Daphne love, what a shame!”
Daphne simply smirked as the juice from the goblet soddened the top of her dress, making it cling to her suddenly very visible chest. “Now now Pansy dear, accidents will happen.”
Pansy smirked even wider “Indeed.” And she chucked the remainder of the juice at Daphnes crotch.
“You. Bitch.” Daphne hissed as she started trying to dig her wand out of her robes.
“Ta ta love” Pansy waved and skipped off to claim the prize.
