Chapter Text
Carlos let out a deep sigh as he turned the key and pushed open the front door to his house. He tiptoed into the kitchen, doing his best to stay quiet, his eyes catching the time glowing softly on the stove. As he was making his way to Jonah's room to check on him before heading to bed, he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist. "Mm, hi baby," he said to TK no response; instead, a pair of lips hungrily attached to his neck. "Babe, not tonight, I'm really tired." Once again, there were no responses as the kissing grew more aggressive. Carlos pushed Tk off him, confirming his suspicions—this was not his husband.
"Who are you!" he shouted at the figure who started to laugh manically and make his way towards Jonas' room. Carlos ran after him and tackled him to the ground. "Answer me who are and what are you doing in my home!" Carlos demanded once again and received once again no response. Carlos reached into his duty belt grabbing the handcuffs. He swiftly handcuffed the intruder and left him lying on the ground. running to Jonah's room to check on him. "TK, are you here?" he shouted, desperately hoping that the gnawing anxiety in his chest was wrong and that his husband and son were safely hiding somewhere in the house. Reaching Jonah's room, his fears were coming to life. The room was in shambles, and there was no sign of Jonah.
"Don't worry, we didn't separate them, but you'll never find them," a voice echoed from the hallway.
Running back out with his heart pounding in his chest, he once again found himself standing in front of the intruder. "If you don't start talking right now, I will personally make sure the rest of your life is a living hell." Instead of a response, he was met with a smirk. Carlos grabbed his phone and quickly sent a text to Campbell and Mitchell, and before he knew it, his home was swarming with police and Texas Rangers.
Trying to hold back tears, he barely registered Sam beginning to speak. "The perp's name is Adam Logan. He has ties to the mafia. I'm not sure what the reasoning behind all of this is, but Carlos, I give you my word we will find them. It's going to be all right, I promise." He tried to speak, but the words wouldn’t come. Instead, he broke down, and before he knew it, his mom and Owen were there, trying to comfort him. "Mijo, va a estar bien," he heard his mom say softly.
"I failed them, Mom. I failed them both," he sobbed, struggling to make eye contact with them. "Owen, I'm so sorry. I should've come home sooner." "Son, you didn't fail anyone. It's going to be okay. We're going to find them both and bring them back safely." Owen comforted him out of the corner of his eye. He noticed Lexi making his way toward him with Campbell and his chief.
"Carlos, we've got something you're going to want to see."
