Chapter Text
Ah, what a nice day—the sun was shining, the birds were chirping, and a car was racing down the street well past the speed limit.
The perfect time to be awake and alive right now—
Wait. A car was speeding?!
“candy, speed up!” Spray shouted, standing in the trunk and gripping the edge with one hand.
In the other, he held a water balloon.
They were being chased by two admins—Brightness and Clockwatch, or something like that?
It wasn’t his fault they thought his graffiti was “vandalism” and not art.
Spray squinted one eye, stuck out his tongue, and aimed carefully at the admin behind the wheel.
A second later—SPLAT!
Paint exploded across the windshield, forcing the admin's car to screech to a halt.
Spray laughed and flipped them off, letting go of the car—his laughter cut short as he nearly tumbled out of the trunk.
He would’ve fallen if it weren’t for Vinyll grabbing the back of his hood just in time.
"carefull!” Vinyll grunted, yanking Spray back into the trunk.
The car jerked as Candy took a sharp left, tires squealing.
spray sprawled back beside Vinyll with paint smudged across his hoodie. “Did you see that shot? That was Picasso-level precision.” he stared up at the blue haired teen a playfull smirk tugging on his lips.
“You nearly became street art yourself,” Vinyll muttered, flicking spray's forehead with a frown.
Still, there was the faintest smirk tugging at the corner of his mouth.
In the driver’s seat, Candy turned the wheel into an alley shrouded by overgrown ivy and rusted chain-link fences. “you owe my car a paint job if she gets scratched in this place.”
Spray popped up to peek, makking sure that they were in the clear.
sure enough—no headlights. No sirens. Just the fading echo of chaos behind them.
“chaos gang 5, admin goons zero!” he chuckled reaching for a wet wipe to get the paint off himself.
having to bend across vinyll's lap to reach it.
"more like admins 20, we got lucky getting away this time" candy sighed as she leaned back agajnst the car seat.
Vinyll nodded in agreement before he reached into the trunk for his portable speaker.
A chill lo-fi beat drifted into the night air, slow and calm.
"how about we calm down , just enjoy the night?" he suggested tossing open the cooler and grabbing 3 soda's
they all climbed into the trunk and for once, Spray didn’t feel the urge to talk.
He just… breathed.
The three of them sat together in the trunk, drinking from cold soda bottles.
After a while, sprayy spoke up, “You guys ever think about how lucky we are? Like… we could be stuck living someone else’s idea of normal. But we’ve got this. We’ve got us.”
Candy smiled softly. “Yeah. We’ve got color in our lives.”
“And noise,” Vinyll added patting his speaker with a smirk.
“i think this is the best night of my life,” he said quietly.
Nobody said anything else.
They didn’t have to.
—————
Nothing good lasts forever.
"Spray? Kid, hey—open your eyes."
The voice rang out, pulling him from the fog of unconsciousness.
Groaning, he pushed himself upright, one hand gripping his head as a dull throb pulsed behind his eyes.
Slowly, he blinked them open, wincing at the harsh brightness.
As his vision adjusted, the blurry shapes around him sharpened into people—an entire group standing in a loose circle.
Among them, kneeling beside him, was Builderman, one of the admins, his expression tight with concern.
They were inside a log cabin...? Wooden beams, a cozy fireplace, the faint smell of pine and smoke—it didn’t make any sense.
“Where the fuck am I…” Spray muttered, voice hoarse and uncertain.
