The summer at Eugene's

Summary:

After Pugsley went missing, Eugene realises he can’t deny his feelings for him and he invites Pugsley to his house for the summer. This uses a lot of canons from the series!!!

Chapter 1: the trip there

Chapter Text

==Pugsley's pov==

Me and Lurch were driving to Eugene's house.

"Address?" Lurch grumbled.

"Yeah, it's Oakwood Lane 24, Jericho."

Lurch was always like this, grumpy and emotionless. I mean, I don't blame him; I would be as well if I were a zombie butler working for the Addams family. I'm surprised he even agreed to drive me all the way to the other side of town. I'm more surprised Eugene invited me to his house. A couple of months ago he would never. We only ever became 'friends' because of Slurp, but even then he was distant. How could a relationship with him be possible if I can't even hold a friendship with him? Gosh, I wish I wasn't this in love with him. My family knows I'm gay; I told them. And they reacted how you would expect. Wednesday didn't care, my dad just patted me on the back, and my mom cried with joy, and so did Uncle Fester, weirdly enough. I don't know if Eugene is, he tells me about the girls he likes, and I just have to pretend I like girls too. I'm going to come out to him when I get there. He of all people would know what it's like. He has two mums, Sue and Janet. They're nice.

"Almost there," Lurch said.

We arrive, and I step out of the car, and Eugene and his moms are standing there. It was a medium-sized house, and it had lots of plants.

"Pugsley! Welcome! We are so happy to have you!" Janet said,

"Yes, thanks, I'm happy to be here."

"Come inside; Eugene will show you your room." Janet said.

"Bye Lur—" Pugsley said before Lurch had already closed the door and sped off.

"I'll help you with that," Eugene said while he grabbed a bag. "Why is this bag so heavy?"

"It's got the bare necessities, you know, an axe, rat poison, a shovel... that kind of stuff."

Usually people are weirded out when I say things like that, but Eugene wasn't; he just smiled. Eugene and I went upstairs, where we entered his very yellow, bee-themed room. It had a mattress on the floor with some kind of plant pattern on the blanket.

"Is this where I'll be sleeping? On the floor?"

"Yes? Isn't that what you do when you sleep over at a friend's?"

"I never slept over at a friend's house before..."

"I mean, we could swap if you want... I don't mind."

"No, it's fine, thanks."

"Boys! Time for dinner!' Sue called from the kitchen.

"In a sec, Mum!" Eugene said back. "Just put your bag there... okay, come."

While me and Eugene went downstairs, I could smell something herbal, sweet and tangy. Better than the food we eat at home; it always reeks of blood and death at my house, but you get used to it, and you learn to enjoy it.

"I made some roasted goat cheese with some of Eugene's honey on it, and on the side, some Greek salad," Sue said, looking proud of her creation.

"Wow, thanks! It looks amazing!" I said.

"Thanks!" Sue said while putting some food on my plate, "Now tell me, Pugsley, what do you think of our house?"

"Oh yeah, it's great; I love the plants and all that. It's way better than my house, way too big and black."

We finished dinner, and me and Eugene went upstairs to his room. If I wanted to come out to him, this was the time.

"Eugene, I have to tell you something."

"Sure, what's up?"

"Well, I just wanted to say... that I'm well... I'm gay."

"Oh yeah, cool dude..." Eugene said, noticeably looking away from me.

Why was he looking away? Does he not like gay people? I don't think so because he has two mums. Maybe he was just happy I felt like I could tell him? Maybe that's it...

For the rest of the night, me and Eugene played video games, talked about school, and got ready for bed. We stayed up till 2 am laughing about a random sound outside. But something was off about Eugene... he seemed nervous.

Chapter 2: Day 1: confessions as sweet as honey.

Notes:

Note: if Eugene is talking about his mum he's talking about Sue and if he's talking about his mom then hes talking about Janet.

==Eugene's POV==

Why did I think this was a good idea? Inviting my crush over during the summer? And he's gay? I have to tell him now... gosh, this guy is stressing me out. Then the sun comes up. Did I not sleep at all? I hear Pugsley wake up.

"Good morning... why are you covered in sweat?" he says.

Great, I've been stressing out all night because there might be a chance my crush likes me, and now I'm also sweating...

"Oh, I don't know; must have been a warm night, I guess."

"Hmm, okay... so what time do you normally have breakfast?

"Depends; if my mum makes breakfast, then around 9 am, and seeing that we have a guest, I'm sure she will be going over the top for breakfast."

Pugsley chuckles, then jumps out of bed and changes into some clothes. It was a black shirt with a white star on the back of it. I always loved Pugsley's clothing style, but I think that's just because I love how he looks. The way his hair looks even when he just woke up, his dark deep eyes and his tall body. He is like three inches taller than me.

"Are you not going to get up?" Pugsley asks with a grin.

I stand up feeling dizzy. I almost forgot that I didn't sleep at all last night. I quickly put on some comfortable clothes and put on my glasses. I and Pugsley walk downstairs, greeted by—as I predicted—a lot of food. It looked like a scene taken straight out of Coraline, except this was made by my real mother.

"Is all this food for us?" I asked.

"Yes, of course!" my mum said.

I was a little irritated that my mum was always this over the top about everything, but I was hungry, so I let it slide. I sat down at my spot, and Pugsley sat directly next to me. Shit, now I can't stare at him. Pugsley grabbed some food, and I felt his shoulder brushing against mine. For the rest of breakfast I can't think straight. Every little thing Pugsley did stressed me out. Not because he irritates me but because he is just so damn perfect. Every bite he takes, I feel butterflies; every scoop of scrambled eggs he puts on his plate, I get dizzy.

"Hello? Earth to Eugene?" my mom said.

"Uh, yeah?" I asked, shaking my head back to reality.

"I just asked what you two were going to do today." My mom asked.

"Oh, I don't know; maybe I'll show him my beehive here at home?"

My mom nods while getting up to bring some dishes to the kitchen. I and Pugsley get up and help my mom with cleaning the table. Then we go up and brush our teeth, and we walk into the forest to my beehive. I don't spend that much time here, seeing that I live in a border school, so my mum takes care of them while I'm gone.

"So you're a bee nerd at school and at home?" Pugsley asked.

"Yes, I am, smartass." I replied.

"What is this?" Pugsley said, pointing to a shelf filled with jars of honey and flowerpots.

"Oh, it's an experiment I'm running; I'm testing if the flowers a bee pollinates change the way its honey tastes." I say back.

I show him all the stuff I have, but I move and talk slowly.

"Eugene?"

"Yes?"

"Is something wrong? You seem so different today."

"No, it's just I kind of didn't sleep at all last night."

"Why not? Is something wrong?"

"No, it's...forget it, it's nothing."

"No, tell me, I care about you."

My heart skips a beat. He cares about me? That's not something any normal friends say to each other.

"You do?"

"Yes, I care about you! Of course! Tell me, what is it?"

"Well, it just... I, uh... like you, Pugsley."

A moment of silence falls between us.

"You—you do?"

"Yes, I do... It's fine if you don't like me back."

"Eugene... I do like you."

"Really?"

"Yes! I liked you ever since we became roommates! Why have you never told me that you liked me?"

I feel tears forming in my eyes.

"It's just, I've been bullied for having two mums at school. It was bad, and only after Wednesday came to school and came up for me did they stop. But I was afraid that they would start bullying me again if they found I liked you. So I hid my feelings, scared. And when you got taken away by Slurp, I got scared, depressed, and mad at myself for not trying. I couldn't sleep or eat, and I was out every day looking for you even though I still have traumas from that forest. When you finally came back I was so happy, and that's why I invited you here, to admit my feelings for you."

"Eugene..."

Pugsley pulls me into a kiss, a soft, gentle and soothing one. He pulled back from the kiss and looked at me, really looked at me, and then he hugged me. I snicker as I slowly stop crying.

"What are we going to tell your parents?"

"We won't tell them yet. I'm sure they will be overly excited."

"So, are we boyfriends now then?"

I smile. "I guess we are."

I feel my phone buzzing and see that my mom said dinner was ready, so I and Pugsley walk back to the house.

"Boys! "There you are!" my mum says as she serves us the pancakes she made. "Eugene? You look like you've been crying."

"Yeah, a bee flew into my eye." I say quickly before accidentally putting a little too much maple syrup on my pancakes.

We eat dinner, and Pugsley and I go back upstairs.

"So? Does this mean I get to cuddle you now? Because I want to cuddle my boyfriend right now." Pugsley said with a big grin.

"Yes, I'll allow it." I reply sarcastically.

Pugsley chuckles, and we get into bed. I'm in my comfy bee shirt, and he's in his black shirt with the name of a metal band on it I can't even read. I'm tired from the night before, even though it's only 9 o'clock. I fall asleep in the arms of my very cute boyfriend.

Chapter 3: Day 2: marked.

Chapter Text

==Pugsley's POV==

I wake up with Eugene in my arms. God, he is cute when he is sleeping. I still can't believe he actually likes me. How could he ever like me? He is so perfect with his tinted skin, his brown curly hair and his nerdy voice. I lay a gentle kiss on his forehead.

"Good morning, boyfriend of mine," he says while waking up.

"Did you actually sleep this time?" I ask jokingly.

"It's kind of hard not to when I have your arms wrapped around me," he says, smiling with his sleepy eyes.

I laugh a little and play with his hair, which is very messy from sleeping.

"Pugsley, don't you think we should get out of bed before my parents come in here and see us cuddling in bed together?" Eugene asked.

"Mghhhhh, I don't want to..." I say.

Eugene moves my arm gently and gets out of bed. And throws my clothes at me.

"Get dressed, Pugsley... I don't want my parents to know we're together." Eugene says, pulling up his own pants.

I get clothed and get out of bed, and I and Eugene go downstairs, greeted by an empty dining room with a note saying 'gone off to the town centre for groceries' in Sue's handwriting.

"Great, so I just rushed into clothes for nothing..." I say. "... but I guess that means we can hold hands during breakfast?"

"Do you really have to touch me 24/7 now?" Eugene asks, grinning, while walking to the kitchen to make some breakfast.

"Yes, I'm required to do so." I reply with a smile.

"This stupid toaster won't heat up..." Eugene says while struggling with the toaster.

"Let me fix it." I say as I use my spark to start the toaster. "There you go."

"Thanks, what do I owe you, mister electrician?" Eugene asked sarcastically.

"A kiss," I say before kissing Eugene. He definitely did not expect that, seeing the shade of red he's turning.

Me and Eugene make ourselves some breakfast and sit down at the table. I grabbed his hand like I said I was going to do.

"So? When do you think your parents will be home?" I ask between bites.

"The afternoon, I think. They... they take their time when they go shopping," he replies.

"Perfect, then I'll have enough time to kiss you." I say, grinning.

"Shut up, Pugsley!" Eugene says while obviously being flushed.

I love how innocent he is; he is so cute. We finish breakfast and put the dishes in the sink.

"Eugene, you know you're blushing real hard right now?" I ask, smirking.

"Yeah, well, I can't help it because of you and your comments," he says, trying to hide his face.

"You loveee me, don't you?" I ask playfully.

Eugene walks away to his bedroom. I follow him.

"Eugene? What is it?" I ask.

"You're making me go crazy, Pugsley, more than I would like to admit, especially when you talk about loving each other." Eugene says, embarrassed.

I kiss Eugene gently on the neck. He groans.

"Shh, just give in. I'm your boyfriend, and I'm right here." I say while kissing his neck hard.

"I just wish I would've told you sooner that I liked you..." Eugene says while pouring his emotions over me.

I look back at Eugene. "Eugene..." I notice a hickey on Eugene's neck. "Wait, you got like a giant hickey on your neck," I say as I burst out laughing.

"Oh my gosh, Pugsley! What are we going to tell my parents?" Eugene says, even more embarrassed.

"Relax, we'll just say a book fell and hit your neck or something like that." I say put Eugene's hair behind his ear.

For the rest of the day, me and Pugsley sit on the sofa, him lying on my chest, watching TV. Then we hear the front door opening, and we quickly go to sit next to each other.

"Boys! I'm going to make dinner." Sue says, walking into the kitchen.

Janet goes to sit next to Eugene. "Eugene, why do you have such a big bruise on your neck?" she asked, looking suspicious of us.

"Yeah, a book fell and hit his neck!" I say quickly, pointing to a bookshelf we rearranged just so I could use it as an excuse.

"Hmmm... okay." Janet says, but she is still not convinced. She sits between us until Sue says dinner is ready.

Me and Eugene practically rushed through dinner – even though Sue made a really nice Caesar salad – and went upstairs to change back into our regular sleeping clothes. Eugene pushes me into bed playfully and hugs me tight.

"You know, Wednesday would hate to see us like this right now." I say, chuckling.

"Yeah, she would." Eugene says.

Stupid little playful comments like that filled the rest of the evening until I saw my cute boyfriend drift off to sleep, and so did I.

Chapter Text

==Eugene's POV==

Me and Pugs wake once again wrapped around each other like baby kittens. We get up and go downstairs.

Me and Pugsley are sitting on the couch eating breakfast when my mum comes out of nowhere.

"Boys, could you go swimming today? One of my friends has a pool in her backyard, and she has a son," my mom says.

The thought of Pugsley in swimming shorts made me blush instantly, and as I look at him, I see him smirking.

"Yeah, that sounds fun!" Pugsley already speaks before I can say anything.

We eat our breakfast and get ready. I can't believe how nervous I am to go swimming, also because of the fact that Damien will be there. Me and Pugsley bike to my mom's friend's house.

"Hey, Eugene! And Pugsley, right?" the woman says.

"Yes, nice to meet you." Pugsley says while shaking the woman's hand.

The guy my mom was talking about was also standing there, Damien. I knew Damien. Our parents used to force us to play together when we were little, but I hated him because he made fun of my mums.

We walk to the backyard, and Pugsley goes to get changed.

"So, do you still have two lesbian mums?" Damien asks.

"Yes, of course I do." I reply.

"Disgusting," Damien hisses under his breath.

Then Pugsley comes back now in swimming shorts, making me turn red instantly. I hide my face and quickly walk into the changing room (which was actually more like a shed). When I walk out, I see Pugsley looking at me with a grin. He is so flirtatious. I quickly jump into the pool to hide my dark red face. Pugsley and Damien follow.

"Why are you looking at Pugsley like that, Eugene?" Damien says with a mean laugh.

"Like what?" Pugsley asked back protectively.

"Like a fucking faggot." Damien hisses back.

I look in surprise to Pugsley, whose eyes are filled with rage.

"What did you just call him?" Pugsley says.

"You heard me; he's looking at you like a fucking faggot." Damien says.

Pugsley visibly snaps. The next second Pugsley's fist jams into Damien's nose, making him fall back with his head cutting on the edge of the pool. Both his nose and the back of his head start bleeding.

"What the fuck, dude?" Damien says while he gets out of the pool and runs into the house.

"Pugs, why did you do that!" I say with a weak voice.

"Because he said mean things about my boyfriend," Pugsley says without a stutter.

I hug Pugsley tight and look him in the eyes.

"That doesn't mean you can just break his nose and cut the back of his head!" I say with a softer voice.

Pugsley chuckles, realising how protective he was, and then he lifts me up.

"I'll just carry you around from now on, then there won't be any harm done." Pugsley says while laughing.

"Pugs! Put me down! Don't let me fall!" I say, panicked.

Pugsley drops me into the water.

"We should probably go home before Damien's mom comes here and yells at us." Pugsley says while getting out of the pool.

Me and Pugsley grab our clothes and jump on our bikes while we are still soaking wet. We bike home and go inside.

"Boys! Hello! Why are you home so early?" my mum asks.

"Damien and I had a... disagreement." Pugsley replies.

"Uh-huh... well, you guys could help Sue with dinner, but first put some clothes on." My mum says.

We nod in agreement, and me and Pugsley get changed into normal clothes. We walk into the kitchen. My mom gives us both a vegetable to peel and cut while she starts making chicken broth for the soup. We finish making dinner and go to sit down at the dinner table.

"So, what was your disagreement about, Pugsley?" my mum asks.

"Oh well, Damien said something mean about Eugene, and I... pushed him." Pugsley says, to put it lightly.

"Well, good that you stood up for Eugene," my mum says while sipping on her soup.

We finish the soup and go to sit down on the couch. My mum throws a blanket at us.

"Get comfortable because we will be watching a movie, and I get to choose," my mum says while laughing.

I groan because I know what kind of movies my mom watches. Boring old romance movies with a worse plot than a kids' movie. As we lie under the blanket, I feel Pugsley's hand softly touching mine, and we eventually hold hands under the blanket. For the rest of the movie my mom actually cries, but me and Pugs just laugh about how bad it is. When the movie is finally done, me and Pugsley go upstairs and once again change into sleep clothes and get into bed.

"Pugsley?" I ask.

"Yeah?" he says.

"Will you promise not to hurt anyone just because they're mean to me?" I ask.

"Okay, fine," Pugsley says.

Then, without me expecting it, he kisses me, short but hard.

"I saw you checking me out while I was shirtless, by the way." Pugsley says while laughing.

"Shut up!" I say as I bury my face in his chest out of embarrassment.

"You know, I don't mind." Pugsley says while hugging me.

I smile and kiss him on the cheek. The rest of the night we keep kissing, cuddling and joking about the movie. He eventually falls asleep, and so do I while hugging him.

Chapter 5: Day 4: A date and a diary.

Chapter Text

==Pugsley's POV==

I wake up with my hands tangled around Eugene's waist. Eugene was already awake and smiling at me.

"I hope you don't get into a fight today, or else I might have to keep you locked here, in my arms." Eugene says jokingly.

I laugh it off, but deep inside I feel my stomach twist; I don't want Eugene to think I'm violent or something. My mom always says, 'If you love someone, you should show your heart, not your fists,' which is weird because my dad enjoys pain. Either way, I should make up to Eugene about yesterday. I have the perfect idea how to.

"Eugene?" I ask.

"Yeah?" he replies.

"I have something to take care of today... maybe you should join your mums at shopping." I say, trying to buy time.

"Hmmmmmm... fine." Eugene groans in dissatisfaction.

Eugene and I get up, and Eugene gets into this cute yellow shirt that I adore. We go downstairs and have our usual breakfast. Eugene leaves to go shopping with his mums. Once they leave, I act quickly; I bake cookies and wrap my gift. I go to the forest and find a spot just outside the old graveyard my uncle used to take me and Wednesday to. It was one of my favourite graveyards when I was little, but it was far from home, so we didn't get to go there often. I set up a cosy blanket and some candles. I quickly go back to the house where Eugene and his mums already are.

"Eugene! I have to show you something." I say, smiling but also looking kind of nervous.

Eugene nods, and we walk into the forest to the picnic spot.

"You set up a date for us?" Eugene says while laughing.

I nod, and I take Eugene's hand, and we sit down. I grab a cookie and force-feed it to Eugene in a playful way.

"So... tell me, why did you do this?" Eugene asks.

"I wanted to make up for yesterday. I wanted to show you that I can also be nice." I say.

"And I wanted to give you this..." I say while handing Eugene a wrapped present. He opens it, and it's a diary with a title saying 'Life at Nevermore'.

Eugene looks speechless while he reads the first page. It was filled with things about Eugene. He reads further, tear-covered pages, about me thinking he hates me.

"You had a whole diary about me?" Eugene says with a sweet, loving smile.

"Yes..." I say.

"That's... really romantic." Eugene says.

I feel something I never felt before, a warm tingling feeling in my cheeks. I was blushing for the first time ever, I always thought that only normal people did that. Eugene notices.

"I... I love you, Pugsley." Eugene says.

"I love you too." I say with a big smile.

Eugene pushes me on the blanket fight-cuddling with me. I try to fight back, but Eugene is too strong. Then out of the blue he kisses me, more intensely than we ever did before.

"Eugene... you kiss so damn well." I say.

"I know... you know I've been thinking, maybe it's time to tell my mums about us." Eugene says.

I instantly burst with joy, and I stand up.

"You do?" I ask, grinning widely.

Eugene nods. I lift Eugene off the ground and carry him over my shoulder.

"Then we'll go tell them right now." I say, walking back to the house while still carrying Eugene over my shoulder.

"Put me down," Eugene says while laughing.

I do, and we walk back to the house where Eugene's mums are sitting in the yard.

"Mum, Mom, we have something to tell you." Eugene starts.

"Yeah sure, what's up?" Janet says while smiling, like she already knows what is about to come.

"Pugsley and I… well, uh... " Eugene fidgets with his hands.

"We are together! Okay?" I blurt out.

"I was going to say that..." Eugene whispers to me.

"Oh really? I would've never known." Janet says sarcastically.

"Janet! Act more serious!" Sue says to her wife. "That's wonderful, Eugene! I always thought you guys had chemistry." she says, looking back at us.

"So? When is the wedding?" Janet says while snorting.

That wasn't so hard, I guess. We all go inside for dinner. The whole dinner Janet kept making jokes about how she already knew, and I was the only one laughing at them. We finish dinner.

"I guess we'll have to give you guys some alone time now, but remember, hands above the blanket." Janet says while laughing at her own joke.

Eugene looked irritated, but we went upstairs.

"Gosh, my mum thinks she's funny." Eugene says.

"Don't think about her; we are alone now." I say while giving Eugene a light kiss on his cheek.

We watched a Tim Burton movie on his laptop, which thankfully wasn't as boring as last night's movie. After the movie I felt tired, so I slept against Eugene's shoulder while he read in my diary. Eventually we lay down and fell asleep.

Chapter 6: Day 5. The fair of Jericho.

Notes:

Note: Eugene's mum is janet, Eugene's mom is Sue.

Chapter Text

==Eugene's POV==

I wake up with Pugsley lying next to me. Do I deserve him? The stunt he pulled off yesterday really won my heart... it kind of forced me to say that I loved him. Also the fact that we came out to my parents really freaks me out. I'm sure my mum will be cracking more jokes than I can handle. I look at Pugsley. It's weird how someone can look this handsome while sleeping like a baby. I pull out my phone and look at myself. My hair was all ruffled and messy, and I looked as sleep-deprived as Slurp. I try to get up and fix myself, but Pugsley pulls me back into bed. I was forced to stay in bed with my boyfriend instead of being allowed to make myself look good for him. I hear him yawning and feel him stretching as he wakes up.
"Eugene... can you not look so good so early in the morning?" Pugs says while complimenting me.
He really thought I looked good right now? Really?
"Pugsley! Don't say such sweet stuff, or else I might melt..." I say, being totally honest.
Pugsley smiles softly and lays a soft kiss on my jaw. Pugsley literally pulls me out of bed and kisses me. We stumble to the door while kissing. I pull back from the kiss and open the door. We walk downstairs, and my mom made breakfast.

"If it isn't our two lovey-dovey Eugene and Pugsley!" My mum says.

Gosh, I hate her sense of 'humour'. But Pugsley finds it funny, or he's just agreeing with her.

My mom shovels some food on Pugsley's and my plate.

"You know, today's Jericho's funfair! I could drop you off if you wanted to," my mom says with a warm smile.

She was nice, at least... but I don't really like funfairs, but I guess that's more 'date' time with my boyfriend.

"Yeah, that would be fun." I say, smiling.

We finish breakfast, and Pugsley and I go upstairs. Then, as soon as the door closes, Pugsley kisses me. It's like he kisses me whenever he gets too.

"Pugs... can't you give my lips a break?" I say, chuckling.

"I'm sorry, it just feels so good to kiss you." Pugsley replies, grinning.

Shit... stuff like this really makes me melt.

"I'm in love with you, Eugene, like full-on proper in love with you." Pugsley says.

"I'm in love with you too..." I say.

Pugsley throws me on the bed, cuddling me tightly. My phone buzzes, and it's my mom saying that she was leaving in ten minutes.

"We have to go..." I say, disappointed that we needed to stop cuddling.

Pugsley groans but gets up, and we walk down to my mom's car, where she and my mum are already waiting.

"Why are you just coming with us to drop us off?" I ask my mum.

"So I can tease you a little more on the way." My mum says jokingly.

And she did; the whole way to the fair she kept teasing me about how Pugsley's lips taste. When we finally arrive, I take Pugsley's hand, and I practically jump and run out of the car to escape my mum. The fair was fun. We went on a haunted house ride; I was scared and grabbing Pugsley's hand while he was just laughing. Pugsley won me a giant bee plushie for me, which I loved. We also shared a hotdog, which was... kind of romantic. My mum picked us up instead of my mom.

"Heyyy, had a good time? Did you kiss on the drop tower?" My mum asks.

"Mum!! Shut up!" I say, looking around to see if anyone heard.

"Don't be dramatic... just get in," my mum says, giggling.

Pugs and I get in the back of the car. I see Pugsley looking at me trying to keep himself from laughing, then he reaches for my hand to calm me down.

"So... no kissing at the fair then?" my mom asks.

"Not that I can remember," Pugsley says while still holding my hand.

"Hmm... too bad," my mum says, acting like she's disappointed.

We get home, and my mom asks Pugsley to help her in the kitchen. Me and my mum are alone at the dinner table.

"Mum, can you tune it down a bit with your jokes? They don't help at all..." I ask.

"Does it really bother you that much?" My mum asks back.

"Yes! You don't want your future son-in-law to think you're some sort of sarcastic, mom-joke freak, right?" I say.

"To be fair, I think Pugsley likes my jokes!" My mum says. "But if it really bothers you, then sure, I will."

"Thanks," I say.

"You two are a great couple, and I just say what I see! I'm happy for you, Eugene." My mum says.

I guess she's right...

"Here we are! Me and Pugsley made a shepherd's pot pie! We followed his grandmother's recipe, but with beef instead of possum, of course." My mom says while carrying a big pot of food.

"This boy can also cook? Damn, you hit the jackpot, Eugene," my mum says.

We ate the pot pie, and it was very tasty. Me and Pugs clean up and go upstairs once again.

"So my boyfriend is handsome and can cook?" I ask when we are back alone in my room.

"You think I'm handsome?" Pugsley said with a big grin.

"Shit... uh, yes, I do..." I say embarrassed.

"Well, I definitely think you're very handsome." Pugsley says while kissing me again.

I get very red, and Pugsley pulls me into bed. He hugs me tight, and I'm too flustered to do anything. Pugsley intentionally kisses me hard on my neck. I lie on his chest, and we talk about the fair. I fall asleep while lying on him.

==Pugsley's POV==
I wake up expecting to have Eugene with me, but he's gone. I get out of bed, and I hear groaning from the bathroom.
"Eugene? What are you doing?" I ask, walking into the bathroom.
Eugene turns around to reveal a hickey on his neck.
"Was this really necessary?" Eugene goes back to scrubbing his neck.
"Yes, it was. You were acting too cute not to." I say, trying to hold my laugh back.

Eugene looks very frustrated, so I grab his chin and face him toward me.

"It's not that bad..." I say, examining the hickey. "It just needs a little..." I kiss Eugene where his hickey is to make it worse. "Kiss."

"What! Why did you do that?!" Eugene yells.

"Because you're my boyfriend, everyone needs to know." I say, grinning.
Eugene puts his head down and leans on my stomach with his forehead while hugging me.

I take small steps toward his bedroom door and then lift him up back into the bed.

"Now let's cuddle again!" I say, grabbing Eugene around his waist and burying my face in his chest.

Without me knowing, Eugene grabs a small box of powder out of his pyjama pocket, which he secretly grabbed while in the bedroom. He applies the powder on his neck, covering the hickey. I look up at him to see what he is doing.

"Ah, too bad... I liked the way that hickey looked." I say while fake frowning.

Eugene gets out of bed, and I'm forced to follow. We walk downstairs.
"Good morning!" Sue says, sipping on her tea.

"Good morning," I say while still holding Eugene.

"Couldn't wait to hold your boyfriend, Pugsley?" Janet asks.

"No, not really." I say while Eugene tries to escape.

Eugene does escape, and he walks to the kitchen to make some breakfast. It was raining and thundering outside. Eugene pours some milk into our bowls of cereal, and, almost in sync, a flash of thunder flashes close by the kitchen window. Eugene looks scared, and he walks away with his bowl. I quickly grab mine and follow Eugene to the kitchen table. As we sit down the lights suddenly turn off, making Eugene even more stressed out. I quickly grab Eugene's hand to comfort him. He eats his cereal fast, and he chokes on it, spitting out his cereal all over the table.

"Shit..." Eugene says.

"Don't worry, I'll handle it." I say while getting up to grab a towel.
I clean up the mess, and another lightning strike occurs. Eugene looks scared but looks like he hopes I don't notice that. I wanted to say something, but I decided not to. Instead I kissed him, then I refilled his bowl of cereal, and I sat next to him.

"Don't be scared. I'm right here." I say, laying a soft kiss on Eugene's hand. Eugene sighed, knowing I know he was scared, but he gave in.

He let me cuddle him for the rest of breakfast. Then when we were done, I pulled Eugene upstairs. We got into bed, and I played with his hair. Eugene kissed me on my cheek.

"Thanks for being so nice." Eugene says while blushing slightly.

Gosh, my boyfriend is cute.

"Let's do some sort of board game. The power is out anyway." I say while grabbing a spooky board game from my bag.

'What kind of game is this?' Eugene asks.

"Oh, it's a game I and Wednesday used to play when we were little." I say while setting up the board game on the bed.

I explain the rules to Eugene, and we play.

"How do you keep winning? I have years of experience!" I ask sarcastically, "I guess you are too smart for games like this." I was letting him win, of course.

"Oh please, my bees could play this game better than you," Eugene replies. "But it doesn't matter; I still love you." Eugene says.

"I'm tired..." I say, just to make an excuse to take a nap with Eugene.

"Go to sleep then," Eugene says, smiling.

And I do, pretty quickly. It was hard not to because of Eugene's body warmth. I had a dream about giving a banana to a monkey to befriend him, and I gave the monkey to Eugene. I wake up with the lights in the hallway back on again, and Eugene's looking at me.

"Were you just looking at me sleeping?" I ask, confused.

"No... uh... I was admiring your eyes." Eugene quickly makes up.

"Too bad, otherwise we would have shared hobbies." I say, chuckling.

Eugene laughs, and we get out of bed and go back to the dinner table, where Janet is sitting.

"Hey! Food is coming!" Janet says. "I ordered some pizza because Sue is working tonight."

I was starving, and it took another 15 minutes of complaining to Eugene for the pizza to finally get here. I quickly eat my pizza, and all three of us go to the sofa and watch some TV. Me and Eugene go back upstairs. We weren't that tired because of the nap we took earlier, so we stayed up all night impersonating different people we know.

"Thanks for being such a good boyfriend." Eugene says.

"No problem," I reply.

Eugene cuddles me, and for the first time I fall asleep in his arms.

Chapter 8: Day 7: Talents I never knew you had.

Chapter Text

==Eugene's POV==

I wake with birds chirping outside. It wasn't anything like yesterday, the sun was shining, it was warm, and Pugsley lays besides me. Yesterday was so rainy, filthy and scary. But Pugsley was there to comfort me, so I'm not complaining. I feel like Pugsley is a way better boyfriend to me than I am to him...

"Why are you always up so early?" Pugsley groans with a sleepy voice.

I chuckle, and I play with Pugsley's hair. He tries to stop me so he can sleep further, but eventually he gives up and falls asleep with my hands in his hair.

"It's already ten, Pugs. You shouldn't have stayed up all night 'protecting' me from the thunder instead of sleeping." I say, smiling.

"I was just protecting my cute, scared little boyfriend." Pugsley says being very honest.

"Shut up! I'm not that cute!" I say back.

"Yes, you definitely are..." Pugsley says with half-closed eyes.

I pull the covers from the bed, making Pugsley groan. I stand up and get ready.

"Get up, Pugs..." I say, pulling on his arm.

"Ughhh no," Pugsley says while I pull him out of bed.

Eventually he gets up and he puts his clothes on. We walk downstairs, and we sit down in the dining room, where my mum was already putting food on the table. Pugsley eats his pancakes while trying not to fall asleep. I jokingly feed him some fruits, acting like he's a baby that can't do anything himself. We finish breakfast, and I go upstairs alone because Pugsley was only half conscious. I grab my guitar and begin to play it. Normally I only play it when I'm alone and I play stupid songs, but because of Pugsley, the notes easily do as I say, and the lyrics roll off the tongue. I wasn't intending Pugsley to hear it, but he comes into my room, curious.

"Can you... play guitar?" Pugsley asks.

I quickly try to hide my guitar. I don't think I have the greatest guitar talents, and I don't want my boyfriend to think so either.

"What? No! I was just..." I say.

"That's really attractive." Pugsley says, completely ignoring my excuses.

"Oh... well, thanks."  I say, being flustered.

"Play some more? I really enjoyed that." Pugsley says with a wide grin.

I chuckle nervously and play a song I know. I know it isn't anything like Pugsley's music taste, but he just keeps staring at me with wide eyes.

"That's awesome," Pugsley says when I'm finished.

"Really? You think so?" I ask.

"Yes! I have such a talented boyfriend..." Pugsley replies.

I smile at the compliment. Being called his boyfriend was already a compliment, but being called a talented boyfriend made me even more happy. I play some songs for him until my mum calls that dinner is ready. We sit down, and Pugsley holds my hand under the table. We finish the dinner like usual and go back to my room.

"We should play a video game," I say.

"Nooo... I just want to cuddle my talented boyfriend all evening." Pugsley says.

"Too scared to lose?" I say challenging him.

"Ugh, fine, but cuddling after." Pugsley says while grabbing the controller.

We play, I win, and Pugsley replies to defeat with a hug. He was warm and tired, and he fell asleep in my arms. I look at him sleeping, thinking about today, and that tomorrow is my last full day with him. I slowly fall asleep.

Chapter 9: Day 8: The sleep-talking mess called Eugene

Notes:

This is based on a hc that Eugene sleep-talks :)

Chapter Text

==Pugsley's POV==

It was late at night, and I woke up; my throat was dry. I try to get out of bed without waking up my boyfriend, and as soon as I do, I feel the cold summer breeze coming from Eugene's slightly opened window. I walk to his bathroom with eyes half opened, and I grab a glass of water. I drink too fast, so I accidentally cough my water out all over Eugene's floor. I dry the floor with some tea towels and walk back to Eugene. I lay next to him. Just when I try to go back to sleep, I hear Eugene murmuring something. He was sleep-talking. He did this regularly at our dorm, saying names of people and saying random words. He never really said clear sentences, but I always thought it was cute.

"Pugsley..." Eugene murmurs unconsciously.

"Pugsley... I'm scared." He continues in his sleep.

My heart skips a beat. Scared? Of what?

"I love you." Eugene murmurs.

I feel weird; what could he possibly be talking about? I hold Eugene in a hug and fall asleep.

I wake up to Eugene playing with my hair.

"Good morning, did you sleep well?' He asks.

"Yeah, I did. Did you?" I ask back.

Eugene goes silent for a little bit, but then he just murmurs, "Fine..."

"Are you sure? You can always tell me." I say. "I heard you dreaming..."

"Well..." Eugene says, looking up at me, "I dreamed about the bullies."

"Eugene..." I hug Eugene tightly. "I wouldn't ever let anything happen to you."

I feel Eugene smile softly against me.

"What did the bullies do in your dream?" I ask.

"They... told me to kill myself..." Eugene says.

"Really? ... well, don't, because I love you." I say back.

And with that Eugene is comforted, and we get out of bed. Eugene throws on this adorable yellow jumper, and I wear my usual boring clothes. We walk downstairs.

"Morning!" Sue says with an overly enthusiastic tone.

"Good morning." I reply with a big smile, being the good son-in-law that I am.

"Since your last day with us, we thought it would be a good idea to eat out tonight." Janet says. "But maybe you two prefer a private date?"

The thought of going on a date with Eugene made me happy; Eugene, on the other hand, looked kind of nervous.

"I'd prefer that any time of the week," I say back.

We eat our usual breakfast, and later Eugene pulls me away from his moms.

"Really? A date? Are you serious?" Eugene says with his usual frustrated face.

"Yeah? Why not?" I say back.

"Because our relationship isn't really public yet!" Eugene says back.

"Why would it matter?" I ask.

"Because I'm scared that people will make fun of us for being gay..."

"Eugene... don't worry about that. I'll just zap anyone that makes you uncomfortable." I say back.

Eugene agrees, and we spend the day on the couch playing video games and watching some boring movie Eugene picked. While Eugene is trying to actually focus on the movie, I just try to kiss him. Eventually Janet brings us to some cheap pizza restaurant. We walk in, and we are greeted by Bianca.

"Pugsley and Eugene! What a surprise to see you here! What are you guys doing here?" Bianca asks, looking surprised.

"We're on a date," I say.

Bianca is silent for a second, her eyes flicking from mine to Eugene's to Eugene's neck, where a big hickey is located.

"Fun! So a table for two then?" Bianca asks, breaking the silence.

We nod, and Bianca leads us to our table. I and Eugene sit down.

"Great, now the whole of Nevermore will know we are together." Eugene says, irritated.

"Fantastic, I want them to know you're mine." I say teasingly.

Eugene rolls his eyes and goes to look at the menu. He spends an awfully long time deciding on the most basic cheese pizza ever. Bianca comes over to take our order, trying not to laugh. I hold Eugene's hand as soon as she leaves. After some time Bianca comes back with two big plates.

"So a cheese pizza for you and an anchovy with mustard with extra cheese for you." Bianca says, looking weirded out by my pizza.

Eugene and I eat our pizza while talking about some bullshit topic. After we finish our pizza, Bianca comes back with one bowl of ice cream with two spoons.

"I get to give one free dessert to a friend once a week, and it's not like I know anyone else that comes in here." Bianca explains.

"Thanks!" Eugene says.

"No problem! Now tell me, are you guys together?" Bianca says.

"Yes," I say.

"Oh, well, I guess I just lost a bet to Enid... not that she's in a human form right now anyway." Bianca says.

"You guys placed a bet on us being together?" Eugene asks.

"Oh yeah, totally; it's all Enid's been talking about since you guys became roommates." Bianca says.
We all laugh and chat a little until we finish dinner. I pay, being the gentleman that I am, and Janet comes to pick us up. When we get home, we go up to Eugene's bedroom, where we stay all night cuddling. Then I see Eugene crying softly.

"Why are you crying?" I ask.

"Because you are going to leave tomorrow and I'm not going to see you for three weeks." Eugene says.

"But after that we are going to be in the same dorm for ten months, and I'm going to call you every day." I say.

Eugene kisses me, tears mixing into the kiss. Then he goes back to cuddling me. I wipe his tears, and he falls asleep, and so do I.
