On: Peace

Summary:

Imagine waking up on an early Sunday with Sevika. It’s raining and she’s particularly growly and lazy on those types of days.

Work Text:

Rain drummed against your bedroom window, accented by the distant rip-roar of thunder and a strum of lightning. It certainly wasn’t your favorite concert in the world, but you’d accept it for now since you had nowhere else to be. It woke you, though, and what little light that filtered through the curtains was enough to guestimate the time.

Early.

You would have moved, stretched your aching muscles if you could, but you were pinned. A heavy arm draped over your midsection while a bristly leg covered yours. The owner of both snored lightly into the nape of your neck. Took one deep breath. Snored again.

Well, then.

You hated waking Sevika when she slept like this. Odd hours and overtime-bleeding-into-days wrecked her schedule enough. She might have been a fairly heavy sleeper most of the time, but she’d stir easily at the slightest shift of movement. Didn’t wanna risk it.

You traced her fingers up to blunt nails, down and around and between the digits, once again marveling at the size difference between yours. How she contrasted you. How she contrasted herself when awake. To others, she was Silco’s fearsome right-hand. To you? Your giant teddy bear. When you laced your fingers with hers, she pulled you closer out of instinct. You closed your eyes.

You weren’t sure what time it was when you opened them next. The bedroom was still cloaked in grey and Sevika hadn’t moved a perceptible inch. You did, however, really fucking need some water.

As gently as you could, you moved Sevika’s hand and leg and scooted from under her grasp. The entire ordeal took at least a minute. You freed yourself and crept off the bed…

…At least until a strong arm pulled you back down.

Sevika sighed and grumbled, tickling your ear. “You leavin’ me?”

Janna, you shivered at her husky voice. She’d been awake, but, judging by the sleep still coloring her words, not for long. The slightest twitch and she trapped you close, bare chest against your bare back. A gentle, growly groan followed.

“Mm-mm… Stay.”

She pressed chapped lips to your neck and shoulder. Little laughs escaped when you breathed, causing Sevika to chuckle through trying to stay awake. You gave up trying to escape and turned to face her.

Dark hair cascaded her face, long enough to barely hide the smile in her eyes as she stared at you. You brushed the locks away, and Sevika closed her eyes once more to rest her forehead against yours.

The warmth and connection and safety was infectious. And it was Sunday. Nowhere to go and nowhere to be. So, maybe you could stay just a little bit longer.
