Work Text:

Graham puts the last pancake on the table and grabs his cuppa before he takes his spot next to Ace. “Did you catch the most recent episode,” Tegan asks her friend.

“I did, I have to listen to it on the way to work or at the gym. This one,” using her fork she steals some of Graham’s vegan sausage. “Doesn’t like to listen to them.”

“True Crime podcasts?” He grabs her hand and puts his piece of sausage in his mouth.

“One of the few things that you can’t stand that I listen to,” she glares at him.

“What, it was my food that you stole. If you want more, the plate is next to Tegan.” Tegan hands the plate as Ace dishes herself up more sausage.

“Is it considered murder if you say sorry after,” Tegan poses the question.

“Not if you don’t get caught,” Ace smiles knowing how Graham will feel about this line of conversation.

“Do you guys really have to discuss this over breakfast?”

“You know when Tegan is here, it’s our job to make you uncomfortable,” Ace kisses his cheek.

“Yeah Tegan, did Kate tell you what she wanted you to do this time? I know last time turned out to be pretty Ace.”

“That was bad Graham,” Tegan says.

“What, the last time both of you worked for UNIT and Kate at the same time was when we met. I think meeting my soon to be wife is ace.”

“Come on, I know you love her, but there is no need to make these stupid jokes.” Two holograms pop up.

“She likes them,” they say in unison.

“Thanks a lot Professor and Celery Stick, they didn’t need to know.”

“I already knew,” Graham smiles, “you get this look on you when I make those jokes.”

“I do, what kind of look?”

“You try to hold back a smile, scrunch up your nose, your eyes shine a little bit.” He kisses her nose. “Just like that.”

“Ace you managed to get someone that really loves you,” Tegan adds with a large smile.

“Are you just learning that? Wasn’t it obvious how he was at my side at every gala or fundraiser that I have done for A Charitable Earth.”

“Oh it was, but this time it’s even more so. Now lets talk murder.”

“You mean what we will do if he hurts me,” asks Ace.

“I will never do that, but I know my cue. I am out.” Graham leaves the kitchen as both hologram Doctors disappear.

“Tegan, want to help me clean up?”

“Sure,” after doing the dishes they move to the couch. “While I am here do you want to go looking for your dress?”

“I am not wearing a dress.”

“You wear them all the time for your fundraisers. Why not for your wedding?”

“I am not trying to get people to give to my charity. I am marrying a man that understands me.”

“A man that you said had a reaction to the first time he saw you in a dress.”

“He had the right, considering the reaction I had the first time I saw him in a tux.”

“Mhmm.”

“You were there; you must remember.”

“Oh I do, and I remember the night of that gala he couldn’t take his hands off of you.”

“I did something to surprise him before we left.”

“I don't want to know.” Tegan shakes her head as Graham pokes his head around the corner.

“Are the two of you done talking about murder?”

“Yes, we are. Just talking about what happened before the first gala.”

“You did surprise me,” he adds with a small smile.

“I’m gone,” Tegan goes to the living room to grab her things before she leaves.
