"Today is the day I finally go to explore the abandoned center!! I've been trying to find a way to get in for WAY too long now but, no one had the address for some reason.. Untiiil I found it on a weird site that almost gave my pc a virus but it was worth it! I followed the address with my gun just in case of an emergency and it was actually the center! Or, at least, the gate entrance to the center. Now I have all my stuff ready for my departure, and if I don't make it out alive, I.. left a message for all my friends and family. Hopefully this goes well!! [Name] out!"
I turned of my voice recorder, shoving it into my pocket and grabbing my backpack. I breathed a heavy sigh before grabbing my keys making my way to the front door, looking back at the house. I froze for a moment, pondering if I should even go through with this. This had been a goal of mine for the past 7 years now, I can't just give up now because I'm scared. Get it together, [Name]!
I gave myself a few taps on the face, snapping myself out of my train of thoughts. I look around before stopping at my feet, noticing a familiar feline staring up at me with curious eyes. The tuxedo meowed at me, almost as if asking a question. 'Where are you going?'
I stared at her a while longer before responding in a hushed tone.
"I'm going somewhere.. exciting."
I kneeled down to get somewhat closer to eye level with her, pondering for longer than normal.
"Do you.. wanna come with? It would be stupid to leave you home alone anyways." I giggled.
She tilted her head at the question, the words foreign to her yet some how understandable, before meowing contently. Hearing her response, I quickly rushed back to my room, grabbing a second backpack with a clear front with holes. Walking past the kitchen, I decided I should grab a few more snacks along. Can't let either of us go hungry!
I grabbed a few more snacks for the both of us and stuffed them in the already full backpack. I made my way back to the front door, finding Nebula already waiting for me patiently. I opened the kitty pack, signaling for her to get in before zipping it back up, making sure none of her fur got in the way.
I quickly headed out, locking the door behind me and heading to my vehicle. I opened the door to the passenger seat and put both backpacks down before settling in the driver seat.
"Alright Nebs, you ready to go?" I interrogated, smiling confidently at her. I got a slightly louder then usual meow in response as she got comfortable in her pack. I took that as a yes and started my vehicle, sparing no time to get on the road to my destination.
The ride just seemed like a long, uneventful, road trip. The view throughout the entire thing was nice, being able to take in things I never realised before. Either way, the 9 hour drive was worth it!
It was already dark by the time we got there, pitch black overlapped everything. I took out my flashlight, enlightening everything in it's reach.
We stood in front of a giant gate, the entrance being blocked off with yellow tape. I hesitated, looking down at the kitty pack in my hands.
"Do we haaave to.?" I pleaded. Yes, even though this was MY idea, I still have the right to be scared..
She looked up at me and, angrily, stomped her foot in response. Well, there was my answer.
"Fine.. We'll go past the scary yellow tape and into our doom. If anything happens it's your fault." All I got as a response was a small purr as she got comfortable in her bag.
I looked at the tape one last time before hesitantly tearing through, the sound echoing in the silence.
A long path laid in front of us, seemingly continuing into the darkness where my light couldn't reach.
All I could do was take a deep breath and pray that I don't get killed while walking in a restricted area.
I made sure my steps were planned, moving lightly and trying to avoid any inconvenience that could get in the way of my full-proof, well thought out, absolutely amazing, plan!
I continued on the path for a while, almost forgetting about my fantastic silence plan. This path was really long. Too long. I tried shining my flashlight behind me but to continue on forever, just like the path in front of me.
Now this was just creepy.
I tightened my grip on my bags and my flashlight for the who-knows-how-many-ith time, a cold sweat rolling down my face as I trudge on. I'm just glad that nothing has happened to me or Nebula.. yet.
While I was lost in thought, I noticed something in the light from my hand. Instinctively, I froze. But, after making out what the shape was, I smiled. A smile of pure relief.
Gardenview, Educational Center.
