Chapter Text
"Give up, little girl," a cop said walking into an alley, his gun drawn.
"Over my dead body," Harper retorted. She jumped down right behind the cop and drew one of her G19 gen5 compact pistols. A shot rang out and the cop fell to the ground. She grabbed his gun and strolled out of the alley into the warm sun and pulled up her hood. She made her way to the main street. When she got there she put her mask on and kept walking.
A woman stopped her and asked, "what is a girl your age doing with all those weapons? Oh dear, are those guns?"
"Yeah so," she said through gritted teeth.
"Where are your parents?" the woman asked. Some people gave them looks and Harper gave them right back.
"I don't have parents," Harper responded, getting mad cause she was going to be late.
"Then I am taking you to the orphanage," the woman said, grabbing her arm.
"No you're not," Harper said. Harper pulled her arm away from the woman and ran across the street and around the block just to be sure she lost the woman. She slowed, turned and walked into an abandoned warehouse. Once inside she opened the door farthest from the entrance and went in.
"Ahhh, Shadow how are you?" a Russian man in a chair said bowing when she came in.
"Cut the charades, what do you want," Harper said.
"My, my demanding aren't we. Well the plan is simple, I have gathered the best criminals and they are going to find the truth behind the Avengers," he said.
"First, my men are the best nobody else's, and second a group of super people, why would I want to do that?" she crossed her arms.
"The government has been hiding something about them and I intend to find out," he continued.
"You mean you want to know what and if they are hiding something," Harper said uninterested.
"Exactly!" he exclaimed.
"Why do you want me," Harper said, shifting her feet out of boredom.
"I need you to be the brains of this operation. No loose ends, no spies, and complete success. Now I know that you normally only work with your people but we need you," he said leaning forward in his seat.
"What's in it for me?" she asked.
"A hefty chunk of change," the man said. Harper put on an evil smile and slightly nodded her head.
"Where's my team?"
~
"Here they are," the man said, showing her into a large room with 5 criminals. "These people are your best?" she said disgusted.
"Why yes. Is there a problem," he asked, looking slightly scared.
"No, just next time make them look...better," she said, crossing her arms once more.
"O-o-ok-okay," he said, collecting himself. "Ok listen up here is your leader, Luna," he moved out of the way to let her talk.
"The kid?" one of the guys in the back scoffed unimpressed.
"Yeah and you better listen to me too," she said standing on a crate on the floor. "This is probably going to be the hardest job you're going to do. This is no stealing candy from a baby job. We are going to break into Avengers Tower," she said glaring at them. A couple gasped but the rest stayed silent.
"And why did he bring a kid in to do this job," the same guy in the back sneered. She took off her mask and hood to reveal not some 14 year old, but a hardened criminal known throughout the underworld. The man's eyes widened and she asked,
"Any more questions?"
Silence filled the room
"Good"

"I'm splitting you into two teams. I want Max, Rena and Nova in group one. Kai and Rider with me. These are your teams for when we break in and I want you to know their strengths and weaknesses." Harper announced when the man walked out of the room.
"Heh, I don't have any weaknesses," Kai scoffed.
"Then how's your fighting," Harper looked at him.
"Better than yours."
"Ok you and me right now" Harper said, "each group work on double attacks. Two people will attack the one."
"Heh, get ready to get beat, little girl," Kai said.
"Rider give me a sec," Harper said and Kai threw the first punch, but it was sloppy and Harper dodged it easily. She returned with her own and it hit him in the stomach. She swept his feet out from under him and he landed with a thud on the concrete floor. She placed her foot on his neck and pushed down.
"Ok! OK!" Kai tapped out.
Harper turned around and said, "what was wrong with that?"
"He should have expected your return strike," Max said.
She shook her head and Rider said, "He tapped out."
"Perfect, get back to sparring," Harper said and everyone did as they were told.
A week passed by and they were ready.

"Good, now gear up and move out!" Harper said. They were ahead of schedule which is what Harper liked. They boarded a plane and were off. Once they got to where they needed to be, Harper went over the plan again.
"Max, Rider east wall, Rena and Nova west, and Kai and I north. Keep your walkie-talkies on at all times and stick to the plan," Harper shouted. They nodded their heads and were off. Harper and the Kai army crawled through the shrubs and overgrown weeds as a Quinjet flew overhead.
"How did you become a feared criminal?" Kai asked.
"By not giving out all the information" she responded, "Here we are." She set a hovering, homemade EMP to the side of the building and ran back to the brush. A shock wave rippled through everything and the normal lights shut off and the emergency lights came on.
'Right on schedule,' she thought. They ran to the wall and shot the grappling hooks up to the middle. Once there she unstrapped her sniper rifle and made her way to the door. She smashed through a glass and bullets started whizzing past her from a machine gun, and as she looked through her scope she smiled.
Her finger hit the trigger and the bullets stopped.
HARPER'S POV
The machine gun smoked and sputtered as a real person ran into the room. He looked directly at me. We stood there just looking at each other. The man had what I assumed to be his plaid pajamas on and something strapped to his back. I turned and ran, heavy footsteps followed behind me. "Kai grab it and go," I yelled into my comm my mask distorting my voice. My sword banged against my side and I strained my ears to hear if the man was still following me.
NO ONE'S POV
A sound of metal hitting plaster was faintly heard and a piece of metal suddenly hit her in the back and she collapsed on the ground.
"I found one of the intruders," the man in his pajamas said into a comm.
"Grab it and go! Grab and Go!" the crime lord yelled into her own comm. She got to her feet and pulled out the comm. She dropped it on the floor and smashed it. The man looked at his shield and she looked at it as well.
It was closer to her than him.
She lunged for it and blocked the punch that the man threw. She swept his feet out from under him and ran towards the closest window. She jumped through and pulled out her grappling gun. She shot it up to the top, but before she was pulled upwards she saluted the man in his pajamas and dropped the shield.
As she flew through the air, she counted the number of floors. She pushed on the comm in her ear and asked, "Is everyone out?" A chorus of yesses replied in her ear.
"Deliver the package to head man, if I need you again I'll contact you," she said as she reached the top floor. She crept along the side of the wall keeping out of sight of the windows and cameras.
She slid past an iron man suit that was watching upstairs and slipped inside the top floor. She walked to the elevator and pried the doors open. She grabbed onto the cables and slid down to where she assumed the computers would be.
She walked along the hall straining her ears for any noise. Then heavy footsteps echoed down the corridor and Harper ducked into the nearest room. She waited until the footsteps passed to look back out. The hallway was all clear. She ran into an open area and found all the Avengers talking about the intruders and the girl. She peeked around the corner as the pajama guy looked her way.
"It's her," the blonde man who was still in his pajamas said. Tony Stark clicked something on his wrist and the pajama guy grabbed his shield. Shadow looked at them and then glanced at the window. Tony's suit flew to him and he aimed the ion blaster at her.
"Stand down," Tony Stark said. Harper unsheathed her sword and said,
"No."
Tony blasted her and she ducked. The pajama guy threw his shield and Harper caught it mid air. Natasha Romanoff swung her batons at her feet as she flipped over Natasha, turned around and ran her blade through Natasha's abdomen.
The criminal looked at the Avengers and ran for the window, she had all she needed to survive the 100 story drop. The glass shattered and Tony blasted at her one more time before he went to help Nat. If she didn't time the slowing down correctly she would become a bony splat on the ground. She stabbed her sword into the wall to slow down first. Then sheathed her sword, curled up in a ball on the shield and readied for the impact.
'Hopefully the shield softens the impact' she thought as the ground closed in.
