Work Text:
Lando was sitting in his hotel in Bahrain, evening light filtering through the blinds. He was simply scrolling through TikTok when he discovered a post where there were pictures of Oscar with the caption “Would he look so good in makeup, or is it just me!?”
That gave Lando an idea. He opened his messages, clicking on Oscar’s contact.
OSCAR!
oh god
I have an idea
Come to my hotel room
I’m scared yet intrigued
omw
He giggled, kicking his feet like some middle school girl with a crush.
Finally, Lando heard a knock at his door. “Come in!” He called, already moving towards the door.
Lando opened the door, being greeted with Oscar’s stupid perfectness. Lando already felt a blush creeping up as he stepped back to let Oscar in, closing the hotel room door with a click.
“Hey,” Oscar greeted, his lips twitching up in a small smile, gaze flickering around the room. “So, what are we doing here?”
Lando paused for a moment, then simply pointed to the pristine white vanity near the center of the right wall. “Sit.” He walked over to the table, looking back to see a confused expression on Oscar’s face. His eyes crinkled slightly, head tilted to one side.
Adorable.
Lando gestured to a small stool, to which Oscar just stared at for a moment before sitting down on it. “Now will you tell me your plan?” Oscar leaned against the desk.
Placing his hands on Oscar’s shoulders, Lando straightened Oscar up. “You’ll see.” Lando felt Oscar’s body tense beneath his hands before melting into the touch.
Oscar watched Lando in the vanity, who was reaching over him and rummaging through the drawers.
Lando pulled out some blush and a feathery blush, beginning to coat it in the pink powder.
“Makeup?” Oscar met Lando’s gaze in the mirror, but didn’t resist.
“Thought you’d look cute in it.” Lando murmured, tilting Oscar’s chin up to get a better look at his face.
Oscar’s natural red shone through the artificial blush, the gentleness of Lando’s touch and words igniting a spark within him. “Can we listen to music?” He blurted.
Lando smiled, resting his head on Oscar’s hair. “First, admire my blush skills.” He set down the makeup brush on the vanity.
Oscar grinned. “You’re really good at this.” He reached back to hold Lando’s face.
Lando felt gratitude and pride swell within him, nuzzling into Oscar’s soft hair and inhaling his scent—hotel shampoo, citrus, and something uniquely him.
Pulling out his phone, Lando opened Spotify. “What do you want to listen to?”
“Hmm… Taylor Swift?” Oscar suggested.
Lando smiled, searching her name up. “Any specific song?”
”Paper rings?” Oscar looked at Lando in the mirror.
“Good choice.” Lando clicked on the song and set the phone down, rummaging through the vanity drawers once more for some burnt auburn eye shadow.
Oscar watched Lando coat a small brush with the orange makeup.
Lando gently shut Oscar’s eyes with his thumbs, the touch oddly intimate and soft. Oscar sighed, letting himself relax as the upbeat music filled his ears, and the brush begin to drag along his eyelids.
Oscar hummed the song, making Lando giggle. “C’mon!” Oscar smiled. “Sing with me.”
Lando rolled his eyes fondly even though Oscar couldn’t see.
“I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings” They sung, laughing like idiots as Lando tried to keep his hand steady.
“In the winter in the icy outdoor pool, when you jumped in first I went in too. I’m with you even if it makes me blue.”
Oscar opened his eyes, shining with stupid happiness. “We should do that sometime.” He murmured.
“Jump in an icy outdoor pool in the middle of winter?” Lando cupped Oscar’s face.
Oscar nodded, giggling.
“I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings, uh-huh, that’s right, darling, you’re the one I want!”
Shutting his eyes again, Oscar still sung as Lando continued applying the makeup.
Lando set down the eyeshadow brush, admiring Oscar’s pretty face in the mirror before pulling out eyeliner.
Lando began to make a deliberate wing, and Oscar’s eyelid twitched. “Stay still.” Lando instructed.
Oscar forced himself to stay still, the cool eyeliner running across his skin providing a weird sensation. “So, why are you doing this?” He finally asked.
Lando paused for a moment, dropping the eyeliner to inspect his work. “What do you mean?” He began to work on the other eye.
“The makeup.” Oscar opened the eye Lando had already applied the makeup to, surprised by his skill. “Do you think I’m not pretty or..? What does this mean?” He asked hesitantly.
Lando finished the other wing before speaking. “Oscar, you are pretty.” He assured, sending butterflies to Oscar’s stomach. “I thought this would be fun, and I thought you’d look really cute in makeup. And you do.”
Oscar blushed again, not sure what to make of Lando’s words. “Was this just because you thought it’d make me look cute, or look yours?”
I want to fly away with you.
That caught Lando off-guard. “Look mine?” He echoed before opening another drawer, pulling out bright red lipstick.
I want your complications too, I want your dreary Monday’s
Oscar watched in half-awe, half-surprise, as Lando smeared it on his lips and leaned closer.
Wrap your arms around me, baby boy!
Lando then kissed Oscar’s cheekbone, leaving a bright red mark. “There. Mine.” His sweet voice was laced with something darker, almost possessive.
Oscar sat frozen, cheeks flaming hotter than the Bahrain sun. He let out a strangled squeak, staring at the lip mark. “Y-you just…” He blinked.
“Was that okay?” Lando’s voice softened as he let go of Oscar’s face, giving him space. “I’m sorry if—”
But Oscar spun the chair around, just staring at Lando for a moment.
Uh-huh
“Kiss me properly.” Oscar demanded.
Lando’s face flushed red, matching Oscar’s. “I—” He stammered.
I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings
Before he could think about it much longer, Lando leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to Oscar’s lips, hugging him close.
Oscar kissed back, fingers tangling in Lando’s hair to pull him closer.
Fireworks exploded between them, setting off sparks of pure joy as their lips moved together.
Lando couldn’t help but giggle in happiness against Oscar’s lips, who stood up to hug Lando tight.
I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this.
Oscar pulled back slightly, smiling in complete giddiness, Lando’s own face mirroring his.
I like shiny things but I’d marry you with paper rings!
Oscar spun Lando around, slightly lifting the smaller up.
Lando hugged Oscar’s neck, giggling like an idiot.
Uh-huh, that’s right, darling, you’re the one I want!
Lando’s legs instinctively wrapped around Oscar’s waist, pulling him into another kiss.
Oscar halted his spinning to kiss Lando, deeper this time.
When they finally broke apart, breathless and panting, they stared at one another with stars in their eyes.
“H-holy shit!” Lando squeaked. “Wh-what did we just do?” But he didn’t seem regretful, gaze flickering down to where Oscar’s mouth had smudged lipstick.
“I-I’m not sure, but I want to do it again.” Oscar confessed, resting his forehead against Lando’s.
Lando rubbed away some of the smeared lipstick on the edge of Oscar’s mouth. “Me too.”
“But, first.” Oscar’s voice dropped an octave. “Lando, I love you.”
Lando’s eyes widened, breath catching in his throat. “I-I love you too!” His voice cracked with joy.
“Th-then, will you be my boyfriend?” Oscar’s voice had a hint of desperation.
Lando’s eyes lit up even more. “Y-yes! Of course!” He peppered Oscar’s face with little kisses.
Oscar giggled, leaning into Lando’s touch.
They looked into each other’s eyes, and for a moment, time froze.
What had started as a fun little makeup thing has turned into… this.
Oscar and Lando. Lando and Oscar.
Boyfriends. Lovers. Theirs.
Forever.
