Chapter Text
Cries of Digimon echoed throughout a war torn plaza. Rain phased through the digital breaks in the air before crashing into the ground. In the midst of it all, Lucky— a white haired neko girl—slipped in the mud as she struggled to her knees. It wasn’t supposed to be like this... Her vision warped as she frantically searched for her Digivice. She could sense the murderous intent of various Champion level Digimon around her. Ah! Lucky’s hand grazed something cold and metallic in the mud. Frantically brushing the muck from her Digivice, a sigh of relief left her lips. Only to be cut short as she gazed down with a lump in her throat upon seeing a crack spiderweb across the screen. All I wanted was a friend who would understand me. I thought the voice I kept hearing was supposed to be… Tears welled up on Lucky’s face, but she wiped them off with the sleeve of her black and yellow hoodie. No, it doesn’t matter now. Struggling to her feet with a determined expression, her blue and red eyes gleamed like gemstones meeting a morning sun. Taking a deep breath, her body felt warm and lighter as mana circulated through her magical circuits. Groups of Kuwagamon, Dokugumon, Tyrannomon and Cyclonemon closed in on Lucky.
“Maybe I wasn’t meant to have a friend… Maybe. But that won’t stop me from believing there is someone out there!”
Lucky clenched her rectangular Digivice, unintentionally pouring mana into it. Dramatically raising her right hand she stuck out her pointer finger and thumb, making a gun shape. Mana roared from her gate, coursing through her body into a singular point at the tip of her index finger. Pulses of energy rippled through the air, bouncing her twintails to the rhythm of her power. Black-and-pink sparks flew from her aura as she chanted.
Lucky’s voice echoed through the plaza, “CELESTIAL TRIGGER!!!”
A lump in her throat formed as the spell quickly fizzled out instead of screeching through the sky like it usually would. I- I don’t understand. Almost collapsing, she wobbled to remain standing. The odds continued to rise against her as a Kuwagamon closed the distance, but defiance was etched into her face.
“SCISSOR ARMS!” The massive insect descended onto Lucky, swiping ferociously at her.
Just as it was about to make contact a mysterious trilling pierced through the air, followed by a bright light. My Digivice?! Looking down at her left hand Lucky saw the remnants of a Digiegg on the screen of her Digivice.
“You were right to believe, Lucky!” A sigil popped up from her Digivice, shining brilliantly. “You sought a friend who would understand...” The light erupted pushing back the Kuwagamon, “Your words and your will reached me.” A massive silhouette formed before Lucky, shielding her from the oncoming Champions. “In your courage, I found hope. In your sincerity, I found strength. You are not alone, Lucky. From this moment on, I, Alphamon, will fight by your side!”
Lucky stared at the back of her partner Digimon for the first time. Her giant black-and-gold armour repelled the rain with ease, “A-Alphamon?!” Lucky squealed. So cool!
Alphamon extended her arm to Lucky, causing her purple and white cape to flow majestically. Nodding, Lucky took a step forward—allowing Alphamon to lift her up onto their shoulder. Butterflies filled Lucky’s tummy as they rocketed up into the sky, leaving behind a crater on the plaza’s ground. Extending both of her arms to the side, Alphamon gathered rainbow colored energy in her palms. A strange pull on Lucky’s Gate caught her attention for a moment but she quickly forgot about it as Alphamon called out her attack.
“PRISMATIC BARRAGE!!!” Her voice reverberated.
Bringing her palms together in front of her, streams of digitally infused magic spewed forth. They scattered into the crowd of Digimon. KABLOOOOOM!!! Exploding on impact, the Champion level Digimon didn’t stand a chance. Dematerializing into blocks of data quickly—Before disappearing from the world entirely.
“T-that was amazing, Alphamon!” Lucky said breathlessly, “You saved me!”
Alphamon gently took Lucky from her shoulder and set her down, “No, you saved me. But I’m afraid our time together is about to be cut short.” She said somberly.
Tears welled up in Lucky’s eyes, “What?! No! Why?!”
Alphamon gazed at the digital wormhole that had formed from some of the digital breaks in the atmosphere, “You may not understand it now, but if you keep looking for the answers you’ll find me again. I wish I had more time to explain, I’m sorry.”
Lucky went to grab Alphamon but she was too late. Alphamon had already launched herself back into the air, gathering mana. Blurred vision and a ringing sound took hold over Lucky as she tried to take a step forward, “Alphamon… No, please don’t go!”
The last thing Lucky saw as she fainted was Alphamon holding something massive in her hands as she approached one of the wormholes, “I will find you again.” She muttered right before her face fell into the concrete ground below.
