There were times when it really got on Rhajat's nerves how little time there was in a day. Granted, she did spend a good chunk of it asleep. Staying up late meant she'd need to sleep during the day. That didn't make her feel any better though. Especially given that for her current charm, she needed sunlight, starlight, and moonlight. It'd be worth it for her boyfriends. There was no way she was going to give up on something like this. And yet, she still found herself annoyed. She was up a bit early today, in an attempt to get the sunlight. The charm called for her to rise early after all.
It also called for her to get the sunlight last, so she couldn't just get it out of the way. At the very least, once she had gotten it, the worst would be over. Then she could take her tired self back to bed, and get some rest before she had to work on it. With her expertise, there was no way she couldn't get it done in a matter of hours. Once she had everything she needed anyway.
Good luck charms weren't really something Rhajat used often. Ever since her encounter with Ophelia, she had to admit she had a bit more of a liking towards them. That wasn't really why she wanted to do it now though. Whether Ophelia "cleansed her soul" or whatever, she'd still want to do this. Ignatius was the one who really got her invested. His love for charms rubbed off on her. She figured an enchanted charm would be a perfect gift to him. Something to keep him safe in battle. The same would be shared with Forrest.
She knew they were strong. However, it didn't hurt to be a bit careful. She couldn't always be around to protect her boys after all. This way, it was like she WAS always there. It wouldn't do anything like full protection from any attack. As much as she'd like to do so. It was more smaller things like noticing an incoming attack faster than they would normally. Or being able to shoot a precise spot on an enemy, taking them down with ease.
Granted, Rhajat had been looking into ways to keep them even safer. The only thing stopping her from creating a hex that'd just kill anyone who tried to hurt them during a battle was knowledge. If she knew how to do that, she'd do it in a heartbeat. That didn't mean she'd never do it, just that it'd take a while. There had been complications, such as the charm not being able to make a distinction between friend and foe. While there was admittedly a part of her that wouldn't mind having the two all to herself, she begrudgingly understood that was unfair. Besides, it wasn't like she didn't have friends outside of the two of them. Regardless, she hoped that one day she'd be able to figure out how to make things on the battle field less up to chance.
To many, the rise of the sun was something to be celebrated, enough to bring someone to tears. That was only half true for Rhajat's current mind frame. If she cried, it'd more be tears of relief rather than the idea that she saw something beautiful. She pulled out her charms and placed them on the ground. Then she sat down and waited impatiently for the charm to work it's magic. As light spread throughout the kingdom, the charms began to glow. They slowly rose higher and higher as they faced the direction of the sun.
Thanks to the ensuing flash of light, Rhajat covered her eyes. Just another reminder of how she hated when things were too bright. When it faded the charms were still floating. A few moments later, they slowly descended to the ground. Rhajat picked them both up and rubbed her thumbs over them. She could feel her magical aura coming off of them. A giggle escaped her lips. It seemed that everything had gone according to plan. All she had to do was figure out how to give it to them.
She didn't want to just throw it at them and call it a day. She wanted it to feel special. She knew there wasn't really an event coming up like an anniversary or anything. She really did it just because it occurred to her. As much as those dates meant to her, she didn't want to only give them gifts or spend time with them then. She wanted every day with them to feel special really. At the same time, she wasn't sure what to say when they received it.
Giving it to them was just another love language. Proof of how much she cared for them, how much she wanted them to be safe. She supposed she could sneak it into their bags or something. She was no stranger to being subtle. Yet, she wanted to be there, in their faces to see their reactions and the like.
She couldn't help but laugh a bit to herself. She wondered what was happening to her, wanting to be perceived instead of hiding out. She supposed that was what love was like. Love changed people, and it was changing her. It was scary, but at the same time, it was exciting. She knew it was sappy but, she couldn't wait to see how much more would change.
Regardless of how she was, or how she was going to give it to them, one thing was for sure. It was too damn early to be thinking this hard. It was time to retire to her quarters. She figured she should sleep on it, hoping that'd get her creative juices flowing. Worst case scenario, she wouldn't be exhausted and therefore able to actually think things through. She turned around and began to walk back to her house. Hopefully her family wouldn't mind her staying out so late. If they did, that was a problem for future Rhajat.
Rhajat groaned. "They minded a lot."
Forrest put a hand on her shoulder. "You know it's just because they care."
"You also didn't tell them you were leaving." Ignatius interjected.
Rhajat rolled her eyes. "Even still, I'm older than my Father. You'd think that'd give me some sort of privilege."
She did appreciate her family's concern, but it didn't make being scolded by someone younger than her feel a bit obnoxious and awkward. She loved her Father, she really did. But he really got on her nerves sometimes. Then again, she supposed that was how most daughters felt about their fathers.
"Either way, I don't think you called us here just to complain about Hayato." Ignatius pointed out. "You can continue if you want! I just figured there was something else going on?"
"No, you're right. There will be plenty of time for my complaints later." She stood up and walked a few steps forward. She turned around then reached into her pocket, then put her hands behind her back. She had thought a bit more about how she wanted to approach the situation. She didn't want to ham it up or anything, she just had to speak from the heart.
"Okay so... Ignatius, you're a knight. And Forrest, you're a prince. There are going to be people after you, and people who want you dead. You're both going to be in combat, possibly for the rest of your lives. That's what you've chosen to do, and I respect it. I can't always be there to help, but I know both of you are strong enough to take care of yourselves. Even still... I can't help but worry about you two. Because..." Rhajat began to blush. "...Of how much I love you. So... to thank you for all you do for me..." Rhajat put her hand out. "I made these charms. They're for good luck... So... I hope you like them." She said sheepishly.
Forrest and Ignatius looked at each other before looking back to her. A smile quickly spread across their faces. They grabbed their respective charms and started looking at them.
"Wow... even without the spell on it... this is so lovingly crafted." Ignatius complimented. "You put so much time and effort into this. It's beautiful Rhajat. Thank you." He said as he put his hand to his chest.
"I'll make sure to keep this around me as much as possible. Like you said... it'll be like you're always there. Protecting me. This means a lot to me too." Forrest added.
"It's... nothing. I'm just glad you liked it." Rhajat replied.
She was just glad that her efforts paid off. She would have been heartbroken if they didn't like it. As well as kinda angry. She put a lot of effort into it. At the same time, she couldn't see her partners being unappreciative. They were both such good loving people. If they were the kinda people who didn't appreciate her, she wasn't even sure if she'd be dating them.
"I don't think it's nothing." Forrest countered with a smile. "It means a lot to us how much you care."
He stood up and embraced Rhajat in a hug, making her blush furiously. Ignatius did the same, prompting her to hug them back. Before she started dating her boys, she wasn't that into physical affection. Now though, she adored it. She struggled to keep her hands off of them sometimes. She'd always want to kiss them on their faces, or hold their hands. Not only was she changing, she was learning new things about herself ever since she entered the relationship.
"Love you Rhajat." Ignatius said softly.
"Love you Rhajat." Forrest parroted.
"I... I love you too." Rhajat replied shyly.
The three sat back down as Forrest and Ignatius embraced Rhajat. Rhajat sighed, though she wasn't sure if it was out of exasperation or contentment. Either way, she was happy. One of her favorite people on her left, and another one of her favorite people on her right. Times like this made it a bit hard to believe there was a time when she was alone. Of course she always wanted to be loved, and to have friends, despite her hesitance to admit it. After joining Corrin's army, she made many friends. She wouldn't trade that for anything, as selfish as it sounded. She knew that people lost their lives due to the vallites. She didn't think they deserved it or anything, but she wouldn't undo it if it meant she'd lose what she now had. Of course their fates were tragic, it was just how much she loved them.
Because of her beloved Corrin, she ended up meeting the loves of her life. Even if there was a part of her still sad that she ended up with someone else, she was glad she had someone who reciprocated her feelings. That wasn't to say she didn't love Corrin anymore, she'd always love her. If anything, her introducing her to Forrest and Ignatius made her love Corrin even more. She'd always be thankful to her for bringing the two nations together.
Nobody was going to take them away from her. Especially with their new charms. She'd probably keep trying to find a way to perfect it, to make sure nothing would hurt them. She wasn't sure if it was a hex even possible to create. If it was, others would be using it. Yet, if it did exist, she'd find it. Anything for them. Hell she could even give them faceless body guards. If she ever figured out how to control them anyway.
She continued to cuddle with her partners, warmth creeping into her chest. Her heart was racing in the best way possible. To the point that it could burst out of her chest at any moment. If this was what heaven was like, she'd become devout in a second. All of her problems seemed a million miles away. She was barely thinking at this point, just enjoying her boyfriend's company. Her eyes were starting to shut. She tried to keep them open, but it was becoming more and more difficult. Eventually, she decided to let it claim her. She knew she was safe here anyway. She knew she was home.
