Yuu walks along the path towards Leona’s room, brushing past other Savanaclaw students that eye them, some waving and saying hello. Yuu waves back, but only barely.
They look back down at their phone, Ruggie had demanded them specifically to come down immediately to Savanaclaw, not Yuu and Grim, just Yuu. “Leona was acting strange and I don’t know why.” They re-read the message over again, he seemed urgent to get them over so quickly.
They shove their phone back into their pocket, sighing softly as they continue down the path, feet crunching against the dried up leaves that hadn’t been bothered to be cleaned.
“There you are!” Ruggie exclaims loudly, his eyes lightening up at the sight of Yuu. His back was up against Leona’s door, taking a hesitant step forward from away from the door. He sighs loudly, shoulders slumping forward.
“Leona’s been acting weird all last week, he’s barely came out of his room, and when he does, he’s so overly cautious of everyone, even me!” Ruggie yells in exasperation, flinging his arms up in the air as he shakes his head. “You were the only person I think Leona wouldn’t wanna gauge the eyes out of..”
Yuu tenses at the comment, they’re thankful but at the same time slightly nervous. “So.. that’s it?”
Ruggie’s ears twitch subtly, flashing Yuu a toothy grin, the light highlighting his canines. “Well duh, Leona’s been a pain in my ass the entire week!” Ruggie shrugs his shoulders, before stepping away from the door and allowing Yuu to step forward.
Yuu hesitated before sighing, turning the knob to Leona’s room and stepping forward. They close the door behind softly, clicking shut as they stand in the dark room. The blinds were closed, the room was a mess, as usual.
“Leona..?” They call out cautiously, stepping from foot to foot as they try to see the faint outlines of the objects in his room.
“Herbivore.” Leona calls from behind them, catching them off guard as they jump with a surprised yelp. “What are you doing here..?” Leona growls low at them, narrowing his eyes down.
Yuu looks back at Leona, slightly relieved he’s not dead yet but scared at the way he was acting so.. hostile towards them. “Ruggie asked me to check up on you..”
The tension in Leona’s body subsides, no longer glaring down at Yuu. They watch as he walks to turn on the lamp on his bedside table, the light flickering on to highlight his form.
Yuu’s eyes widen in surprise, he looks the same yet he has a bump on his belly, a small one but still noticeable nonetheless.
“What’s with the bump, ate too much?” Yuu jokes light heartily, coughing awkwardly as Leona doesn’t seem amused by the joke.
“No,” he hissed, his tail flicking in agitation. “Try and guess what it is, herbivore.” He smirked down at them, watching as they processed his question.
“Uhh..” They trail their voice off, before inevitably shrugging their shoulders. “Not sure.”
Leona groans in annoyance. “Seriously? Do I HAVE to spell it out for you?” He growled.
Yuu blinks. “Yes..?”
Leona sighs, shaking his head. “I’m pregnant.”
The room goes dead silent, save for the wind that blows through occasionally from the windows. Yuu blinks at Leona. “What..?”
“Do I have to say it again for you?” He seemed to be getting more and more annoyed, looking like he was ready to pounce and kill Yuu tight then and there. Yuu shakes their head quickly. “Nope! I get it.. completely..” Their voice trails off into a soft murmur, rubbing the back of their neck awkwardly.
Leona stares long and hard at Yuu, knowing that they probably don’t get it at all how it’s even biologically possible for him to be pregnant or who the other parent is. “Well, if we’re done here, I’m taking a nap.”
Leona turns to lie down on his bed, his body curling up into a ball to keep his body warm. He looks expectantly over his shoulder at Yuu, flicking his tail at them. “What are you standing there for? I never said you could leave.” He could see them going for the door then stopping once he calls out to them, surprisingly, he feels more.. comfortable with Yuu around.
Yuu brings their hand down slowly from the knob, sighing as they reluctantly turn around to sit down on the edge of Leona’s bed.
They look down at Leona’s stomach, the soft swell of his belly of whoever’s kids are growing in there. Yuu wonders, who’s kids are these even? Would he be considered a mom? Would he see them as the other parent for his kids? How is he gonna give birth?? the thoughts race endlessly in their head before shaking them away, no need to indulge in those thoughts now.
They glance back down at Leona, his back rising and falling with each gentle breath he takes. “So uh,” They murmur softly, hoping Leona would hear and bother to answer. “When are you due..? For your birthing.. I guess.”
“Don’t know.” Leona huffed, curling up closer to his body. “No one else really knows except for a few and the doctor.”
“Well when are you gonna know it’s time?” Yuu asked again, sounding a lot more curious rather than confused.
“If I feel them kicking.” Leona answered groggily, drifting off to sleep as he spoke. “Or when the doctor says so.” He finishes off, letting sleep consume him.
Yuu nods softly, they don’t really understand how or why Leona is pregnant, but they’ve decided it’s not really their problem to know why now. They rest their hand subconsciously on Leona’s baby bump, feeling the warmness of his skin seep into their hand.
“Goodnight.” Yuu whispered softly, keeping their hand stuck to Leona’s stomach.
