Chapter Text

January 8th. Yokohama, Japan.

Working at a Mafia isn't for the weak. Killing people, terrorizing agencies, it was unbearable during some moments. So, sometimes, Chuuya Nakahara needs a break. A break from the world, a break from his boss, a break from anything.
A break from reality.

Chuuya entered a bar, which was quite lively inside. Full of drunken men and women, with them was a beer or perhaps a Bloody Mary. Chuuya? He was there for a simple red wine. Damn.. work stresses him out like hell. He sat down at a bar stool as he sighed, laying his head flat onto the counter. A bartender walked up, and before she could say a word, Chuuya spoke up.
"Red wine. Most expensive you got."

She stayed stunned for a moment, before muttering a 'Yes sir,' and ushering her way to where the wines were rested. As she got the glass and poured the nearly-blood-looking-liquid into it, Chuuya lifted his head and looked to his right. He squinted his eyes.. holy shit! Is that —?!

Kunikida Doppo. A man with long, almost-green blonde hair, that when it's not up in a casual ponytail, it reaches around his waist. He usually wore his uniform for his job as a detective at the ADA, but when he's not at the office, he's in a more casual outfit. As of today, his glasses are resting on top of his nose. He had a dark-brown coat on top of an almost cream color button-up shirt, with black pants, and simple shoes to top it all off. But.. the man's presence confused Chuuya, he's never seen Kunikida at this bar; albeit any bar.

Oh. He had a water.

Dazai was next to him.

..Well that explains it. Dazai was getting drunk.. and someone has to be bringing him home; like hell will anyone let Osamu drive by himself in the first place.

Chuuya was snapped out his thoughts as the bartender placed the wine glass infront of Chuuya's face. He mumbled a 'Thanks' before taking a sip. Hm. Not bad, actually tasted pretty damn good, surprising for a drink you'd get at some shitty bar. Or maybe it's just because he needs some sort of separation from life, and anything that could satisfy that need was delightful.

Chuuya sighed, this time with slight calmness, as if he's finally relaxed. Until he heard Osamu 'Mackerel' Dazai's voice, now he feels like absolute dogshit again.

Gasp. "Oh, is that the almighty Chuuya Nakahara?!" The man-childs voice was oh-so-slightly slurred, probably from the 8 empty beer glasses infront of him.

Doppo groaned. He was already (like always) tired of Dazai's bullshit. Kunikida took off his glasses as he rubbed his temples, letting out a deep sigh of frustration. The man chose to just ignore Dazai.. for now, atleast.

Chuuya rolled his eyed and groaned. He chugged the rest of wine left in his glass, and slammed the cup down, nearly shattering the glass.
"Oh, fuck off, Osamu!" Chuuya half-yelled. The raise of his voice made Doppo look over.
"..You.. know him?"
"..Yeah.. you're.. his partner in the agency.. right?"
"Yeah."
..
The silence between the three was unbearable. Chuuya and Doppo's eyes were locked. The nearly-hazy blue and brown eyes of Chuuya, and Doppo's sharp-green eyes. A loud bang made the two jump. Dazai fell out the bar stool. Kunikida sighed and got out of his seat, bending down to pick Dazai up.

Chuuya kept getting more and more drinks.

....

A few minutes later, Kunikida got tired of Dazai, and called Dr. Yosano to pick him up (Doppo is not dealing with all of Dazai's bullshit), as Chuuya would ring up the bartender constantly for a refill. Second by second, he was getting hammered.

Dr. Yosano eventually got there, picked up Dazai and leading him to her car. Once that was dealt with, Kunikida grabbed his coat, putting it on, and began to get up. Yet, the second Kunikida's shoes hit the ground, Chuuya muttered.
"..nnh..wait.."
...
Kunikida looked over with a raised eyebrow, and lifted his glasses with his index finger. "Yes?" He questioned. Chuuya lifted his head up from the counter. "ymmnh.. you.. b— hic —ring me home.." His voice was slurred. He pointed at Kunikida, his finger poking the taller man's chest. Doppo looked at the man with confusion. He took a second before responding. "Excuse me?"
"..youu heard me.. deetective.. guy.. take me hoomee..!" Chuuya repeated, as if it'll explain anything to Kunikida.
"Ahem. I don't know you personally. I may help you with finding ride, though.."
Chuuya just grumbled, he hopped out his stool, almost immediately falling down. Kunikida's quick reflexes let him grab Chuuya's left arm and the boy's waist, making sure he didn't fall. "Be careful, you're drunk." Their height difference was more obvious now, almost a whole foot difference. Chuuya looked up at the man.. his pink cheeks slowly turned to a soft rose color.

Kunikida grabbed his phone from his pants pocket, checking the time. "It's.. 22:34, you need to get home.." He spoke with a sigh. Gently, he lifted Chuuya up onto his shoulder, holding the man by his back. Doppo opened the door, walking outside into the cold, Yokohama wind. Chuuya groaned softly, as Kunikida walked onto the sidewalk to try and spot a taxi. He waited for about 5 minutes, not seeing one. The taller man sighed, he glanced to the parking lot at his left. There was his car.. he could bring Chuuya home himself.
And so he decided.
Doppo walked over to where his car was parked, grabbing his keys from his pocket, unlocking the car doors which made a 'beep' sound. Doppo opened the passenger side door, as he gently placed Chuuya into the seat. He buckled the man up, moving his feet and shutting the door. Kunikida walked over to the drivers side, repeating the process but for himself. Once he shut the door, he looked over at Chuuya.
"Alright, where am I bringing you..?" The man sighed. Chuuya looked over and smirked. "Wherever.. yyoouu.. want.. sexy.."

....

"..What did you just call me..?"
"..hnn..? Sexy.."
"..."
"Don-Don't call me that," Kunikida began to blush slightly, from a few drunken words spoken from the enemy. Kunikida snapped back into his thoughts, tightly holding onto the steering wheel. "..sigh. Just.. tell me where i'm bringing you." Kunikida spoke sternly. Chuuya closed his eyes, pulling his hat over his face. "Mnnhn.. the mutter mutter mutter.." Kunikida looked over at Chuuya, who was now asleep (and snorning). Doppo looked at the road, and began driving.

....

Eventually, the wheels of the car softly rubbed against the rocky concrete of Kunikida's driveway. He turned the car off, taking one last glance at Chuuya. Eventually, he got out the car, shutting the door and walking to the passenger side. Doppo opened the door quietly, peaking under the man's hat to try and see if he woke up yet. Once Kunikida noticed the man was still out cold, he chuckled and unbuckled the seatbelt. He gently picked Chuuya up as he did before, holding the man by his waist. He shut the car door, and used his keys to lock the car. Doppo walked to the front door of his house, unlocking it and opening the door. He was welcomed with the warmth of the living room, which was neatly organized. There wasn't much, but he didn't need a fully-decorated house to be content.

Doppo gently placed Chuuya onto the couch, hanging up the ginger's coat and hat. He began to walk into the laundry room, only a door away from where Chuuya was resting. Kunikida grabbed the man a pillow and blanket, walking back into the room and got Chuuya all settled.

....

As dawn settled into the sky, Chuuya woke up with a killer headache. He mentally cursed at himself and opened his eyes. "What the.." The place was new.. it smelt nice and it was clean, though. He couldn't retrack his thoughts to last night, until he spotted a bottle of water, Advil, a note, and some.. clothes? He picked up the note, squinting his eyes slightly. It read:

———
"Dear, Chuuya.
You had gotten drunk last night, to a near unhealthy level. I took it into my own hands to bring you to my place, since you wouldn't be able to tell me where your adobe was. I got you a painkiller for your headache, some water, and a spare change of clothes. To change, the bathroom is two doors to the right, and if you ever need me, I will either be in my bedroom (The fourth door), or, in my office (The only door on the right).
- Doppo Kunikida."
———
Chuuya was astonished. Nobody has ever done this for him. Nor did he ever do this for himself.

A stranger. A stranger did this.
For him.
A Mafia member. A literal murderer.

Chuuya looked at the water bottle, lifting it up to make sure it wasn't poisoned or anything. Once he noticed it wasn't, he then checked the pill. Yep. It's Advil. Chuuya didn't change into the clothes just yet, he didn't want, or even really need to.

He took it, (im)patiently waiting for it to kick in. The headache was a near migraine, and Advil might not be enough. So, he slowly looked over at the hallway, then back at the note, semi-calculating the location of Kunikida's room. Once he had a good idea which one it was, he picked up his feet. He winced slightly at the pain he was getting, but he was .. somewhat surviving. He knocked three times, no answer. He just opened the door.
"mn.. Kunikida..? you awake..?" Kunikida, actually, was in a deep slumber, his long hair was out of his usual ponytail, his glasses laid peacefully on the bedside table, and the sheets barely covered his chest. So, Chuuya walked closer to the sleeping man, observing his face. Chuuya slowly lifted his hand, his fingers softly touching Kunikida's face. "Woah..".. And he carressed the man's face again. Slowly (he didn't even realize), he began crawling into the bed beside Kunikida. He didn't quite go under the covers, but he did lay right beside the man. His head still hurt, but that didn't matter at the momment. All that did matter was Kunikida's sleeping face, and gorgeous features.

Thankfully, the Advil slightly tuned down his headache, but it still not fully gone. Chuuya then looked at the covers. Should he really cuddle up to Kunikida..? I mean, the man was undeniably hot, so..
He did it. Chuuya lifted the sheets, sliding under them. Gently, he pressed himself against Kunikida's warm body, he got shivers down his spine feeling the man's bare skin against his clothes. He rested his hand on Doppo's arm, before closing his eyes and sighing contently. Damn, this hangover is getting to him. He's making decisions he'd never even dare do. If you told him, he'd be cuddling up to a handsome, warm, detective? He'd laugh in your face. But there he was, all comfortable.. he couldn't believe himself. He wanted to move, but at the same time, he just.. couldn't. So, he stayed, and slowly drifted back asleep.

....

Hours later, Chuuya woke up again, he checked the time, 9:18 AM..? Damn, he slept in for a while. Chuuya immediately noticed one important thing.

Kunikida wasn't sleeping beside him anymore.

Well, Shit! Where is he?! Chuuya shot out the bed, walking out of the room. He began to search every room, until the relaxing scent of food filled the house. He sighed, before walking into the kitchen. There Doppo was, cooking some breakfast. Kunikida looked over, muttering a small "Good morning.." Before looking back at the pan, flipping a pancake. There were already a few on a plate, butter and syrup weren't on them, but placed on the counter. Doppo spoke to Chuuya without looking, "Those are for you, I'm making my own currently." So, with those words, Chuuya walked over. He grabbed a sliver of butter, putting it on the pancakes, and poured some syrup on it. He smiled, saying a soft "Thank you..". He grabbed a fork, cutting the pancakes and taking a bite, humming with content. "Oh, damn these are good!"

Suddenly. There was a noise Chuuya wasn't expecting.

Bark!

A dog? Theres a dog?!

Chuuya snapped his head up and looked over. "Where did that come from..?! Do- do you have a dog?!"
Kunikida chuckled softly. "No, it's the neighbors. But, he does come visit often. You can go pet him, he loves attention." Chuuya's eyes widened. He cleared his throat and tried to calm his racing heart, but he immediately dropped the fork and ran outside, where he was met with a big ol' golden retriever whose tail was excitedly wagging. Chuuya knelt down, immediately petting the dogs head and whispering high-pitched praises. The dog jumped on Chuuya's knees, and was loving all over the man, in which he was not complaining. Kunikida soon walked out and spoke.

"I need to tell you something."

Chapter Text

Chuuya suddenly stopped petting the neighbors dog. He looked over behind him, noticing Kunikida standing there, slightly blushing.

Those words were racing through Chuuya's mind. "I need to tell you something." So, Chuuya answered him. "..Yes, Kunikida..?" There was a slight tremble in his voice. Kunikida had a blush on his cheeks, kneeling down next to Chuuya.

"I quite enjoyed your company in bed.. it's been a while since I had someone to hold in my sleep, and with you, it felt strangely nice."

Chuuya froze. Completely froze. Did Kunikida really just say that..? Or was he just going insane..? "Repeat yourself, I don't think I heard you properly-" Chuuya spoke, before Doppo interrupted him. "Oh, you heard me. You heard me correctly." Once those words fell from the mans mouth, Chuuya couldn't get him out of his head. He stared at Kunikida's lips. Slowly, the man leaned in, cupping Doppo's jaw.

....
"Well then.."
....

It took a second for it to register in Kunikida's mind what was happening. But once it did, his eyes completely widened.

They were kissing. Chuuya's lips were so soft, and oh god-so addictive. Kunikida leaned in, kissing the man back, shutting his eyes. Chuuya let out a soft moan as their lips would separate and connect once more. Kunikida bit the shorter man's bottom lip, making Chuuya softly gasp and his lips separate. Doppo took this as an invitation, slipping his tounge into the man's mouth. Their tounges were in a dance, as the two would sometimes separate just to breathe, and a string of saliva would be the only thing connecting their lips.

"H-holy shit.." Chuuya eventually whimpered out. "You're killing me here.." His eyes locked with Kunikida's, and they slowly back from each other.

....

It began to rain, and the two were still sitting outside on the back porch. Kunikida muttered a small "Shit," before picking Chuuya up in his arms, which shocked the smaller male. He let out a "Eh..?!" as Doppo carried him inside.

Kunikida set Chuuya down on the kitchen floor, letting the man's feet hit the ground. The pair looked at each other for a moment, before Chuuya spoke up. ".. So, uhm. Can you bring me home..?" In response, Kunikida nodded, grabbing his car keys. "Make sure you have everything.. like your phone," So, Chuuya checked his pockets, which his phone was in the left and his wallet in the right. Chuuya nodded and he tossed the coat over his shoulder and put his hat on.

They walked out the door together, and Chuuya waited for Kunikida to unlock the car door. Once he heard a beep, Chuuya opened the door to the passenger side, he sat down and buckled himself in. Kunikida sat in his own seat, and Chuuya informed the man on where his address was.

The ride was quiet, only the sound of cars and traffic were heard. Suddenly, Doppo spoke up. "I.. need your number." Chuuya looked up, immediately splurting out his phone number to Kunikida.

".."

Silence, and Doppo's face turned red.
"No, you idiot.. the apartment number."
"Oh. It's YK-455,"
"Thanks."

....

Once they got there, Chuuya immediately got out of the car in embarrassment, he didn't even say bye, just walked out.

Kunikida, on the other hand, waited for Chuuya to go in the apartment, making sure he got there safely. When the man was inside, Doppo left no hesitation in grabbing his phone. Thank god for his good memory.

....

Chuuya was inside, he didn't care about putting his coat up properly, he just tossed it. (Of course, his hat is important to him, so yes he put that up with care.) He walked into his personal bedroom, and turned on the lights. He kicked off his shoes and tossed his phone onto the bed. Chuuya began to strip out of his current clothes and was about to grab clothes to change into, before glancing at his body in the mirror. He smirked, looking at his top-surgery scars that he was so damn proud of. They were currently healing, and they seemed healthy currently.

Once he stopped glazing himself, he changed. Just a pair of blue-green plaid sleep pants and a grey pull-over hoodie. He went to plop onto his gaming chair, booting up his PC, when he heard a buzz from his phone. So, he walked up to grab it.

It was a message from an unknown number. "Hello? Is this Chuuya?" It read. Chuuya smiled, getting all giddy knowing damn well who it was. "Yes, Doppo, its me."

The two began texting for so long, a smile plattered on Chuuya's face the entire time. "Oh.. i'm gone for him.. so damm gone.."

Gone isn't a good way to even summarize his love.

He's done for.
