Work Text:
Yuu sits idly on the worn down couch, the cushions old and matted and worn down, a couple springs sticking out from the frame, it’s a miracle it hasn’t collapsed under the combined weight of them.
They could probably bribe Crowley to get a new couch, or at least fix up the old one. They hug the plushie closer to their chest, losing themselves in thought of what to do with Ramshackle.
They tighten their hold around the eel themed plushie, Floyd had bought it for them out of impulse, “in case shrimpy will miss me,” was his reasoning. It was a thoughtful one, and they cherished it deeply.
But Yuu can FEEL Floyd staring them down, his eyes narrowed and shoulders slumped, sitting crisscross apple sauce on the couch beside Yuu. They had honestly thought he left from how quiet he was. They knew he was a handful to deal with, mood swings, impulsive behavior, never knowing if he’ll find them boring and leave or not. Yet somehow, he’s stuck around long enough with them.
“Shrimpy..” He draws out the nickname, leaving it off with a whine of annoyance, like a hurt puppy. Yuu threw a glance at Floyd, noticing his expression of annoyance. “Yes?” Yuu tilts their head him.
“Why are ya still huggin’ that plushie..” Yuu raises an eyebrow, confused on what’s the problem with them holding a plushie. “Because you.. gave it to me?..”
That seems to make Floyd even MORE pouty, his lips growing into an even deeper pout than before. “Well yeah, but I’m here!” He exclaims, whining again.
Well, this is confusing. “So?” Yuu questions again, attempting to get a more clear reason as to why Floyd is so annoyed by the presence of an object.
“It’s not fair!” He exclaims, catching Yuu off guard. “You don’t need a damn eel plushie if I’m here! I’m supposed to be your favorite moray eel!” He whines loudly, his voice getting more childish by the second as he keeps pouting at Yuu for an answer.
Yuu looks surprised, amused, and confused at the same time. They don’t even get enough time to process Floyd moving over to fling the plushie out of their arms, the plushie version of the eel falling pitifully to the ground. “Hey!–“
Yuu attempts to reach out of the plushie before it hits the ground, before getting stopped by Floyd wiggling into their arms, his weight keeping them pressed to the couch. He rests his head against their chest, listening to their heart beat as he seems much happier that the plushie is stripped away from Yuu’s grasp.
“See, having the real deal is better than the cheap knockoff!” Floyd exclaims happily, the corners of his eyes crinkling, razor sharp teeth glinting in the light. He snuggles up closer to Yuu, trying to keep their body warmth for himself.
Yuu sighs, yet still keeps holding Floyd close. “Yeah.” They respond back softly, keeping their arms wrapped loosely around Floyd.
Floyd giggles, satisfied with the response he got. “Yer luckily I like you so much shrimpy! I would’ve left a loooong time ago if you weren’t as interesting!” He flashes them a smug, toothy grin.
Yuu knows he’s right, had they been any less entertaining he would’ve gotten bored and left. It’s a bittersweet thought that stings a little, the fact that he’s stayed so long and also the fact he’s willing to leave in a heartbeat if he finds someone else interesting.
Whatever, Yuu shakes the thought away. “I’m aware.” They respond coldly, yet still somewhat warm. They lean down to press a gentle kiss to Floyd’s head, lips lingering a little while long to take in his scent. “Hehe..~” Floyd giggles softly at the gesture, smiling softly up at Yuu.
He yawns right after Yuu takes their lips away and off his head, noticing his eyes are slightly droopy. “I’m tired..” He grumbles, sinking deeper into Yuu’s grasp.
“Then sleep.” Floyd glances down at the plushie, still and motionless on the floor. “You won’t get up and grab that fake one, right?” His tone lingers on a threatening one, daring Yuu to leave him for the plushie that”s on the floor.
“I won’t, I promise.” Yuu sighs, surprised Floyd hadn’t gotten over the whole ordeal yet. He seems happy with that answer, pressing a quick kiss to Yuu’s arm. “Good, goodnight shrimpy..~”
He rests his head down back against their chest, letting their heart beat bring him to sleep. Yuu smiles softly back down, hints of a smile curling at the corners of their lips. “Goodnight.”
